Platoon (1986,  R)
Platoon 5.0 Stars
A volonteer recruit stuck within 2 experienced sergeants with different mentalities, both supervised by an incapable captain.
The visual graphics and the score are just fantastic. Oliver Stone is surely one of the best.
The most realistic, emotional and intense war story you'll ever witness.

JFK (1991,  R)
JFK 4.5 Stars
One of the best political dramatic movies ever made.
The entire cast is fabulous.
Intriguing but convincing, you'd still want more after the 200 minutes of elapsed time.

Born on the Fourth of July (1989,  R)
Born on the Fourth of July 4.5 Stars
In "Platoon", Oliver Stone gets us to see the soldiers in Vietnam. Here, the work was about the effects the war could have on a marine afterwards.
The movie tells the true story of Sergeant Marine Ron Kovic, badly wounded thus handicapped in the war, and the struggle to regain a normal life afterwards, turning his back on the war and the government.
There's no better than Stone to convince in a political view in a movie, think "JFK" for example.
Cruise puts on a distinguinshed performance as well.

Having sympathy for Killers Mickey and Mallory Knox is incredible. The bond and chemistry between the couple is superb !
Oliver Stone made a great impact with Tarantino's story and delivered a picture to remember for ages to go.
We can't forget Tommy Lee Jones sublime performance.

The Doors 3.5 Stars
I'm not particulary a fan of Jim Morrison, but Oliver Stone is a living genius and knows how to make a good movie.
I've never seen a better performance by Val Kilmer. The physical resemblance is extraordinary, and you always have the feel it's really Morrison out there.
It's a successful hallucinatory psychodrama, but I guess it could have been cut shorter.

Nixon (1995,  R)
Nixon 4.0 Stars
"Takes a riveting look at a complex man whose chance at greatness was ultimately destroyed by his passion for power"
It really seems that everything Oliver Stone touches turns to gold. What if it's the great Anthony Hopkins headlining his phenomenal all-star cast !
Not as intriguing and compelling as JFK, this is nonetheless a masterpiece.
Lots will nag about the over three hours' running time, but it's really needed in such a rich biopic.
