Friday the 13th - The Final Chapter (1984, R)
Ok, so it wasn't exactly the Final Chapter....but Jason does finally get his comeuppance. The fourth entry in the Friday the 13th series is probably best remembered because of Corey Feldman and Crispin Glover's presence. Although FX master Tom Savini does provide the film with some of the best and bloodiest kills in the series. The acting is a little better than usual and the characters aren't quite as two-dimensional, but let's face it....we all watch these movies to see Jason dispatch stoned and horny teenagers in fucked up ways, and he does it brilliantly in this entry. One of the best in the series and worth watching just to see Crispin Glover's classic 80's dance moves. |

Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981, R)
The first Friday the 13th to feature Jason as the killer (although he didn't have the trademark hockey mask yet). This is easily one of the better sequels in the series and has a really creepy atmosphere that seemed to vanish in further sequels. Eventhough it's one of the most censored in the series, the good looking, horny teens are still knocked off in bizarre ways that'll hold your attention. This also remains the only Friday the 13th film to actually make me jump. Underrated and worth a look. |
