Halloween H2O (1998, R)
The Halloween films have always been my favorites, and while H2O has more than it's share of flaws, it's definitely one of my guilty pleasures. While I liked some of the previous Halloween sequels I think it was a good idea to ignore them and stick to the Laurie Strode story. Of course the movie isn't scary in the least, but it's got some great nostalgic Halloween moments and the cast is quite good (especially Jamie Lee). My one major gripe with the movie is that it tries to be more like Scream than Halloween, and that's what makes it an average sequel instead of a great one. Still, it's a nice addition to the Halloween series and would have been a great place to end it (let's all pretend the woeful Resurrection was never made). |
