Shoot 'Em Up (2007, R)
Very Tarantino-esque flick. But I can't make up my mind on whether they pulled it off successfully or not. Some parts they managed, but surely not the whole thing. It is very enjoyable nevertheless. Which I guess is a good thing even if it was really cheesy at times. |

10,000 B.C. (2008, PG-13)
The movie was epic and beautiful in terms of the visual effects, rendered cg and and the scenery, but the first half of the movie was more like an epic failure. It improved somewhat later on but except for Camilla Belle and Steve Strait, some of the acting was really poor and most of the main characters in the film were horrible. Some looked really out of place and there were far too many cheesy scenes for my liking with some terrible dialogue. For instance, asking a trapped sabre tooth tiger not to eat himself before helping it free itself? Wtf? And predictably enough, the tiger comes back to help out later on in the film. Hilarious. And that "Old Mother" character was a joke. |

Iron Man (2008, PG-13)
Let me get this off first. I've never been a big fan of Iron Man. I dislike most comic book characters with funny looking costumes, which happens to be almost all of them aside from a couple like Batman for instance. But this film is highly enjoyable to watch. Infact I think this even managed to go as far as to actually make me an Iron Man fan. |

The Incredible Hulk (2008, PG-13)
Perhaps Edward Norton could turn around the Hulk's fortune like Christian Bale and Christoper Nolan did with Batman. |

Hellboy II: The Golden Army (Hellboy 2) (2008, PG-13)
The trailer was really sweet so I had to go to a theater to watch this and I think it's only fair you watch something like this at a theater. The film was good but not as good as I had expected though. I think Del Toro tried a little too much to be Hollywood friendly, which kind of resulted in a lot of cheesy and stupid scenes, some of which were quite funny and appropriate (getting drunk and singing scene for example) but others not nearly as effective. Otherwise, his wild imagination is put to good use, with some stunning creatures to gawk at. Specially loved the winged angel like creature which appears near the end. Splendid cinematography and special effects all around but storywise, it's quite disappointing. It could've been a lot better though with a bit of editing here and there I think. |

The Dark Knight (2008, PG-13)
Best superhero flick ever. There's just no competition. I just fucking loved watching this at the cinema. It surely is one of the best experiences I've had at a cinema. |

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor (2008, PG-13)
Almost the same storyline as the new Hellboy and you'd do well to watch that instead of this. Didn't like the casting at all, apart from Brendan Fraser to an extent. The guy who played Fraser's son actually looked like he was older than Fraser himself and it was kind of awkward. Michelle Yeoh (who's a fine actress) is pretty much miscast I'd say. Likewise Jet Li too is all but wasted with that poorly written script. As for Maria Bello, she may be a good actress but she did a terrible job replacing Rachel Weisz. Rachel is certainly missed but I'm glad she didn't take the role. This film really made everyone in it look like horrible actors and some of the acting actually is quite bad for real. |

Max Payne (2008, PG-13)
Loved the first Max Payne game but the film turned out to be a bit boring at times, specially at the beginning. It improved somewhat later on but the plot twist was all too obvious and there wasn't as much action as I had hoped for. Disappointing in a way but it wasn't too bad. |

Underworld: The Rise of the Lycans (2009, R)
Love the whole look and feel of the Underworld series and this time even the special effects have improved quite a bit and it's a good thing coz these kind of films rely quite heavily on it. |

X-Men Origins - Wolverine (2009, PG-13) |

Terminator Salvation (2009, PG-13)
It's okay but definitely nowhere near as good or memorable as T2. They needed to flesh out some of the characters a lot more and cut out the unrealistic crap. Guess I should learn not to raise my expectations too high every time a film as big as this comes out. But then again, what could you really expect from the guy who directed Charlie's Angels. |

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009, PG-13)
If you're expecting Oscar worthy acting, great dialogue and all that, you won't find it here. |
