Ride the High Country (1962, Unrated)
Beautiful wewstern from Peckinpah. Ride the High Country touches on alot of themes Peckinpah would later refine in The Wild Bunch and others. But he does it best in The Wild Bunch. Thats not to say Ride the High Country isnt without merit. Its a damn good western and one of the best for its time. Joel McCrea and Randolph Scott kick major acting ass here. Iam not that found of Mariette Hartley, but she was pleasent enough in this. Highly recommended to all Packinpah fans. |

The Ballad of Cable Hogue (1970, Unrated)
Sam Peckinpah has never made a more gentler film than The Ballad Of Cable Hogue. This was his reply to critics who thought he was nothing more than a blood and guts director. This is Peckinpah defying expectations and making a relativly non violent western. Cable Hogue is a comedy western and theres even a musical number!! This is the film he immediatly followed The Wild Bunch with. But its still trademark Peckinpah. He films the west better than anybody because he was a product of the west. The way he frames the landscape in the background, he makes it a central character. |

Junior Bonner (1972, PG)
Ive seriously tried my ass of to get in to this..but i cant. Its boring as hell and puts me to sleep evrytime. I LOVE Peckinpah, but what the hell was he thinking about with this. Who the hell finds Rodeo films entertaining. And slo-mo bulldozers!? He mustve been really letting the booze and drugs take control around this time. |

Convoy (1978, PG)
Made during the peak of Peckinpahs alcohal and drug abuse, Convoy feels like it was made during that time. Its a cash in on the Smokey and The Bandit craze and the plot is pretty thin. James Coburn is purported to of directed quite a bit of the film too. |
