The Time Traveler's Wife (2009, PG-13)
The beginning of this movie was rather disjointed, but it got it together about half way in. Having read the book, I spent the entire movie comparing the two. They didn't miss any important plot twists - even the ones that I was hoping they would. I was rather hoping for a happily ever after movie ending - this ending really does leave a little something to be desired - but I can appreciate the need for it being done this way. I think that Bana and McAdams had great chemistry as two lovers thwarted by his temporal problems. |

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008, PG-13)
Aside from the fact that I had to sit in a movie theater for 3 hours to watch this... I loved this movie. It is another movie with a bittersweet ending. I don't completely hate these endings, but I really don't like watching the whole movie when I know what is coming. A great performance by all! I still have to figure out what is going on with Hurricane Katrina being a large part of this movie. |

Confessions of a Shopaholic (2009, PG)
The book series was much more wonderful. The major problem is that they try cramming everything that happens in the books into one feature length film. The romance between Rebecca and Luke does not just happen instantly - there are many awkward, endearing moments that lead up to their happily ever after. It was an entertaining movie in it's own right for chick flick fans. Once it was over I wanted very badly to go shopping! |

Sense and Sensibility (1995, PG)
I love movies based on Jane Austen's books because there is almost always a happy ending for everyone. Even if things look bad for the charcters things always work out for the best - at least for the main characters. Knowing that Winslet and Grant are stronger actors than they appear in this movie I can only imagine that they had very weak charcters and won't hold that against them. Rickman was completely creepy as the lurking suitor, but I liked him in that part. There is no way that I would have enjoyed this movie without Thompson to hold everything together. |

Mansfield Park (1999, PG-13)
I have never read the book so I can't compare the movie to that, but I did enjoy the movie. At the beginning it was hard to get into the story because I was having a hard time with following the characters and getting the relationships straight. Once I figured out how everyone connected to each other I really got into the story - nothing like a little romantic intrigue to make me happy. |
