28 Days Later
This is one of the most amazing films i have ever seen. It was very atmospheric and i felt like i was in the movie going on the journey with the main characters. It was very spooky to see London looking so eerie. Music was used very well in this film.

The highlight of the film for me was the scene after Cillian had gauged the mans eyes out and his face was covered in blood, that was one of the sexiest scenes i have ever seen in a film. I just wanted to lick the blood off him, lol.

This Is England
The attention to detail in this movie is perfect, even the sweets looked like they actually did in 1983 and it makes you realise just how much sweets have shrunk! The acting was some of the best i have ever watched. Thomas Turgoose was amazing, this was his first acting role.

The One and Only (2002,  Unrated)
The One and Only
The movie starts off with two couples, the first being sour faced Jenny and Neil who talks about kitchen cupboards 24/7 who are trying to adopt and the second Italian footballer star Sonny and his wife Stevie who are trying for a baby. Both couples have their problems and when Neil and Stevie bump into each other its love at first sight but then Jenny and Neil get the yes from the adoption agency and become parents to a six year old African girl called Mgala (no one knows how to say it so they all call her Me-lager) and Stevie becomes pregnant by Sonny so the path to true love is not an easy one.

The first time i watched this movie i had missed the first 45 minutes so i was really confused but gripped and within minutes of watching it i was laughing out loud (which is rare for me). Its an hard movie to write about because nothing really happens and nothings really amazing (although the locations look quite stunning) but to me it is one of the most romantic, funny movies i have ever seen. If i had to describe it in one word i would say "easy" - easy to laugh at,easy to watch, easy to love. The characters could be seen as boring but i found them hilarious.

Imagine Me & You (2006,  R)
Imagine Me & You
The path to true love isn't always straight...

The first time i watched this movie i had no idea what it was about but it doesnt take long to work out whats happening and i think the reason for this is because the chemistry between the two characters is very obvious so a big applause to Piper Perabo and Lena Headey for their excellent acting skills. The two main characters Rachel (Piper) the straight newlywed and Luce (Lena) the lesbian florist are both very likeable and sweet and between them they create a "love is in the air" kind of atmosphere that you will feel whether you are gay or straight.

A Town Like Alice (Rape of Malaya) (1956,  Unrated)
A Town Like Alice (Rape of Malaya)
This movie is a tearjerker from start to finish.

Right at the very start everytime i watch it i call out at the tv "Jean dont answer the phone, just leave" but obviously each time she doesnt and that is when she can not help to go and help her employers family and her journey begins.

I Don't Want to Be Born (The Baby)(It Lives Within Her)(Sharon's Baby)
Great horror movie from 1976. Joan Collins plays a stripper called Lucy who rejects the sexual advances of a dancing dwarf,in anger he puts an "you will have a big evil baby" curse on her. Lucy then meets an Italian man, they get married, she stops stripping and they have a baby boy called Nicholas who attacks and kills everyone he comes into contact with.

Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging
My daughter recommended this movie to me and i really did not fancy it but after i brought it her on dvd for Christmas she managed to convince me to watch it and i was surprised by how good it was,i even watched it again straight after because it made me laugh so much and it flowed really well that i think it will be one of those movies i have playing in the background whilst i do my housework or ironing.

Being the mother of a 14 year old girl i thought the teenage characters were really realistic and the embarassing parents were just brilliant plus Angus was adorable in his little outfits, bless.

Cass
I did not enjoy this as much as other movies i have seen that are about football hooligans but it was a good watchable movie. Cass was a very likeable character and i especially liked the scenes which featured Cass and his adopted mother Doll. It was also a very realistic movie and Nathalie Press portrayed the unhappy girlfriend Elaine excellently, she is a great actress.

The Other Boleyn Girl (2008,  PG-13)
The Other Boleyn Girl
This movie was okay and i loved the costumes, they were beautiful but overall i prefered the BBCs 2003 version even though it was done on a much smaller budget and was not as good to look at.

In regards to both films it is sickening to see what people will put their children through so that they, the elders, get power and wealth.

What i loved about both movies were the final scenes where we see a young Elizabeth running through the grass, simply beautiful.

Doomsday (2008,  R)
Doomsday
The following is the plot summary for my favorite kids tv show The Tribe........

'Where the virus came from, no-one knew... from deepest space, bacterial warfare or some nation's scientific experiments gone horrifically wrong? All the Adults are gone... All the teachers are gone... All peace and regular meals are gone... Just tribal instincts and war paint survive. If survival depends on not getting caught by the evil Locusts or rival cyber gang Demon Dogs or just finding your next meal... then the only option is to start your own Tribe.'

........so when i saw Doomsday advertised earlier this year i could not wait to watch it because it reminded me of my favorite show. I thought wow an adult version, what can we expect? I never got chance to see it on the cinema and over the last few months i became less and less excited because of all the bad reviews i had heard about it.

I finally watched it this week and i loved it. I would describe it as an action-packed black comedy rather than a thriller, there are quite a few laugh out loud scenes and the dinner scene was thoroughly entertaining,it reminded me of the evening entertainment at the top UK heavy metal festival Download but i could not help thinking how is that one BBQ cooked man going to feed such a large crowd of cannibals.

I would love to see a sequel!

The Company of Wolves (1984,  R)
119
The Wolves of Willoughby Chase (1989,  Unrated)
The Wolves of Willoughby Chase
Quite a funny movie, not what i expected. Its quite unusual for a childrens film especially when one of the children dies in a scene that resembled something from Final Destination. There is also quite a few sexual jokes between Stephanie Beacham and Mel Smith characters that would probably not be picked up on by younger viewers.

Red Road (2007,  Unrated)
Red Road
This movie was subtle and slow, the characters were desperate and everything about it was bleak. I would imagine many viewers would get bored within the first fifteen minutes but the slowness of the movie is worth bearing because this films storyline is both interesting and moving.

The Hide (2008,  Unrated)
The Hide
The Hide is about two men in a birdwatchers hide, one an avid birdwatcher and the other a stranger covered in blood. The story is boring and the end was very predicatable and obvious from the start of the movie. There was little tension, everything that happened was expected. I am surprised that many viewers on IMDB were shocked by the ending and the twist(what twist? surely they saw it coming). One thing i have learnt from watching this movie is that if i had the choice of being trapped in a small wooden shed with either Michael Myers or a birdwatcher i would opt for Michael,at least my death would be quick rather than dying of boredom listening to some idiot ramble on about the different noises that birds make.
135
Wilderness (2006,  R)
Wilderness
Recommended by Deano78.

Wilderness is a watchable but average British horror/thriller movie. A group of young offenders are sent to a remote uninhabited island on a team building exercise. Once on the island they are hunted down and murdered by a trained killer and his pack of dogs, the killer is the father of a young offender who killed himself after being bullied by several of the other boys. The father wants revenge and this is the ideal place to get it.

What i did not like about the movie was the fact that the killer did not care about who he killed,if he had of just killed the bullies i think i would of enjoyed it a great deal more. There is plenty of blood, violence and gore but nothing creative,we have seen it all before infact many times.
136
In Bruges (2008,  R)
In Bruges
I enjoyed it more than i thought i would,i was expecting to hate it. I didnt like the character played by Colin Farrell so didnt really care what happened to him, infact i didnt care for any of the characters in this movie, they were all lowlifes. Brendon Gleesons character was slightly likeable. The pregnant lady was an unrealistic character,no woman puts her babys life at risk and mouths off at a gangster with a gun and what made it more far fetched was that she never showed the slightest bit of fear whilst doing it. Also Colin Farrell seems okay in real life but i really do not like him as an actor, also he kept reminding me of the character George from My Hero.

My husband couldnt stop laughing all the way through but i didnt laugh out loud once.
137
Tower of Evil, (Horror on Snape Island ) (1974,  PG)
Tower of Evil, (Horror on Snape Island )
Tower of Evil aka Horror of Snape Island is a good old fashioned slasher movie that features plenty of sex and gore. The script is quite silly and the acting is not that good either, its a bit wooden but this just adds to its charm.

The movie is set on an isolated island called Snape Island. One day two sailors visit the island and discover three dead teenagers and one traumatized naked female survivor who accidently stabs to death one of the sailors thinking he is the crazed killer who slaughtered her friends. The story then leaps forward to a hospital facility where we see the surviving girl who can not speak or move due to mental problems, she has been charged with murdering her friends. The girls parents then hire a private detective to go to the island to see if someone else could be behind the murders,he,the detective,is joined by an archaeological party who are looking for Phoenecian treasure. Once on the island they are killed one by one by an unknown killer.

Visually it looks cheap. Its a so bad its good kind of movie. One of the sets looks like it was made by a Blue Peter presenter but its a must see for true horror fans.

The Oxford Murders (2008,  Unrated)
The Oxford Murders
I watched 5 movies this weekend,4 i had previously rated Not Interested,i ended up giving these movies 4 stars. The one movie i had rated Want To See was The Oxford Murders.......

Everything about this movie is bad,its incredibly dull and boring. I needed matchsticks to keep my eyes open after just 15 minutes. The plot is stupid, the acting is awful and the script is badly written. The characters are lame. The visual look of the movie is glum and grey.

Who did it,who the f*ck cares?

The Children (2008,  R)
The Children
This movie looks great but my local cinema only showed it for a few days over Christmas and now they have took it off, damn them!

Update 2- yippee The Children is finally out on dvd.

Update 3 - It was worth the wait!

Yippee i finally got to watch The Children today with my husband and daughter,i watched the UK 18 version. It was amazing and gripping from start to finish,a good British movie. Hannah Tointon (Katie from Hollyoaks) plays the lead character Casey, one of the older children,i think she was suppose to be about 16/17. Caseys family joins her aunts family to stay for a few days to welcome in the New Year. One by one the children become poorly and turn into evil little killers who quickly turn on their parents and pets.

Overall the acting is excellent,Hanna Tointon is brilliant shes certainly improved since Hollyoaks and the smaller children are brilliant at being moody, spoilt, brattish and demonic. All the characters were believable and reminded me of people i know in real life especially the over protective middle class aunt(gold star charts, home schooling,my children would not behave like that attitude). The atmosphere was creepy and eerie and the visuals were stunning(blood and ice,the stunning country home set amongst the snow),it all worked well to create a feeling of doom and dread.

Green Street Hooligans 2: Stand Your Ground (2009,  Unrated)
Green Street Hooligans 2: Stand Your Ground
This movie get 0 stars.

WTF did i just watch? What a piss poor sequel to a brilliant movie. I loved the original and watched it over and over again.

Within minutes of watching Green Street 2 i was laughing(for all the wrong reasons),i could not believe my eyes. The movie starts where we see Dave one of the hooligans from the first movie in prison with two of his friends, they have been sent to prison for their involvement in the fight that occured at the end of the first movie in which their friend Pete was killed. Now what was suppose to be an English jail was in reality an American correction facility, with a blazing sun and sand on the floor. Instead of the pale washed out looking prisoners we see here in the real English jails these inmates were bronzed and built like bodybuilders. Add a few really dodgy accents and a five minute conversation about a woman shaving her bush, this is Green Street 2. The ending was so stupid that even the characters in the movie thought it was a joke.

This could be the worst movie i have ever watched.

For fans of movies with no storyline,no plot and bad acting.
146
Cradle of Fear (2000,  Unrated)
Cradle of Fear
This movie is two things - tits and gore.

Cradle of Fear stars Dani "Cradle of" Filth. In my opinion this movie is his own personal ego trip. Dani looked like he had walked straight off stage and into the movie with one exception........in this movie he was a great deal taller than he is in real life. The storyline went all over the place and at points i felt like i was watching a Direct Line commercial. The best thing about this movie is the title.

Having seen Dani perform many times i think its safe to say that he should stick to the singing.
147
Lawless Heart (2002,  R)
Lawless Heart
Good acting, great cast BUT it was like This Years Love but boring. A big thumbs down from me.
148
The Front Line (2007,  Unrated)
The Front Line
Is it a movie about a bank job or one about the horrors of war? Both together just did not work. Overall it was average but it could of been a great deal better with a few changes.

Eden Lake (2008,  R)
Eden Lake
Recommended by Deano78.

This movie could share the title of another movie Thomas Turgoose was in - This Is England. The chav kids in this movie are the kind of kids that roam the streets of England everyday causing chaos and trouble, this movie is a good reflection of England in 2009 and the most disturbing thing about this movie is that unlike vampires, werewolves and zombies......chavs are real.

Two naive but nice adults go camping at Eden Lake, they come across a group of chav kids who torture and humiliate them. The things the couple are subjected to are very disturbing but also the kind of things we read about in the newspapers everyday. The acting is very good and the characters are all believable. I was expecting the ending but it still left me feeling flat.
150
The Broken (2008,  R)
The Broken
Recommended by HorrorChick27 and DrLappos.

Better than Mirrors but thats not saying much.

This movie certainly seems broken......its as if some scenes are missing and it ends with no real explanation. When i first saw this dvd at the rental store i thought it sounded interesting but it really isnt, every single scene is dragged out and when its finished you feel unsatisfied.

A flat 3 stars.
151
Greenfingers (2000,  R)
Greenfingers
Well i thought i was in for a treat,Clive Owen and Danny Dyer both in the same movie........well no it was more like a trick,i was tricked into watching it lol.

Overall it was all a bit twee for me and come on the storyline was rather dull
152
My House in Umbria (2003,  PG-13)
153
The Crew (2008,  Unrated)
The Crew
Recommended by scottydgibbs.

The Crew is about British gangsters in Liverpool. Sadly this movie was not as good as i was expecting it to be. The characters were vile, not one of them was likeable and the lead hardman character Ged comes across like a pansy. Stephen Grahams* character was interesting and i thought he would of made the movie a good one but his character entered the movie too late on and offered very little. The storyline was weak and i felt like some random scenes were just thrown in for the sake of violence,i think it wanted to shock the viewer but instead it came across as needy and desperate. The acting was so-so. The cast were a bunch of meatheads(*with exception to SG). Clearly just another British gangster flick, just about watchable but it is quite boring in parts.
154
Satan's Slave (Evil Heritage) (1976,  R)
Satan's Slave (Evil Heritage)
This movie is not scary but its got a creepy feel to it. Good British horror, plenty of blood, gore and naked people. A must see for true horror fans.
155
Bronson (2009,  R)
Bronson

So far Bronson is my second biggest movie left down of 2009 (it gets 2nd place to Green Street 2),i was expecting a gritty violent British drama but what i got was a theatrical panto! Why was the movie made so arty and theatrical? It really did it no favours. Knowing nothing about Bronson the man i thought i was going to learn more about him from this movie but i feel like we never know his motivations, perhaps i should of skipped the movie and read one of the many books that have been written about him. My personal opinion is that someone should have another whack at doing a movie about Bronson,it needs a complete make over that would make it more real and factual. Feel bad for Tom Hardy because he clearly tried his best and its not his fault the movie sucked,i saw him in Martina Coles "The Take" a few weeks ago and he was amazing playing bad boy hard man Freddie. End verdict - a chance to make a great movie missed. End result - arty crappy panto.

Lesbian Vampire Killers (2009,  R)
Lesbian Vampire Killers
Well i was hoping for a vampire version of Shaun Of The Dead but what i got was a short unfunny movie that was dull and boring.
87 minutes of nothingness. Plus was it my ears or was there something really wrong with the sound? It was really unbalanced. Not funny, not scary, not good.

Recommended by DrLappos but it was a little too late because i had already had the displeasure of watching it.....bad times.

Genova (2008,  PG)
Genova
"A man moves his two daughters to Italy after their mother dies in a car accident, in order to revitalize their lives. Genova changes all three of them as the youngest daughter starts to see the ghost of her mother, while the older one discovers her sexuality."

Well i was told Genova was a supernatural thriller set in Italy and now i have finished watching it i know that it is not so i didnt enjoy the movie as much as i could of done because i was constantly waiting for the creepy stuff to begin lol. Its actually a story of how a family grieves after the sudden lost of the wife/mother. Colin Firth was very good and Perla Haney-Jardine (Kill Bill 2,Untraceable) is growing into a great little actress.

I can see some people thinking nothing happens and i can see some people thinking its slow and boring, you may all be right but personally i found the movie interesting,i was kept on edge.......constantly fearing for the family and i got the message that it was trying to send out so i enjoyed this movie. However i didnt like Genova the city,it made me feel claustrophobic but i think it was suppose to,it ties into the meaning of the story.

Hush

Hush reminded me of quite a few other movies including Road Kill and more recently Shuttle. I thought it started a bit slow but i got into it more during the second half. Nice to see this kind of movie made in the UK for a change. Overall it was watchable, just dont expect much in terms of a storyline or originality.

Franklyn (2008,  R)
Franklyn
Franklyn was visually stunning and full of mystery but sadly it was also uninteresting and disappointingly bland. It started off quite confusing (okay this might be my fault,i should of read the dvd cover) then it slips into not so confusing just boring so you sit there watching it thinking "ooo something really good is going to happen soon" and you wait and wait and then its the final scene and you are like "Oh....that....was....it....". I cant believe it was only on for 98 minutes,it felt more like 3 hours. The characters are also not very interesting and i didnt really like any of them.

Recommended not to bother with by DrLappos, sadly i had already tortured myself by watching it the day before.

The Secret of Moonacre was visually stunning and beautiful, the scenery was to die for! It was magical and gorgeous, one of the most amazing movies i have seen in a long time. The costumes were amazing, the house was my dream home and the characters were colourful and interesting. I loved the story and i loved how it ended....happily ever after. I want to live in Moonacre. Oh i loved the animals too....lets face it i loved it all, this was my kind of movie.

The Young Victoria

I had no desire to watch this movie BUT wow!!! It was amazing.

The Young Victoria is a beautiful movie. It was nice to see a young Queen Victoria for a change, usually tv shows and movies about her focus on the older Victoria. Emily Blunt shined in the leading role, she was perfect and the costumes were stunning. A great drama and a touching romance that showed us the chemistry between Victoria and Albert. I even had a little cry at the end because it was so touching.

Look out for Princess Beatrice who makes a brief appearance.

New Town Killers (2008,  Unrated)
New Town Killers
Impressive Scottish flick.

Dougray Scott plays a bloody good baddie,a vile character called Alistair and i was very impressed with James Anthony Pearson who played the lead character Sean.

Think Hard Target set in Edinburgh.

Perfect Creature
One of the better vampire flicks i have watched recently. It was a bit like Underworld crossed with The Matrix.

The Zombie Diaries
The Zombie Diaries was a decent movie,it was done quite realistic (lol as realistic as you can be with zombies),nothing was over the top (again by zombie standards lol).

"I do not doubt it; he is a dreamer like yourself. You both dream of another world that does not exist, and never will."

The Duchess is one of the best period dramas i have ever seen. The characters and storyline are both very interesting and the costumes are to die for. The love story between G and Charles Grey was real and heartbreaking, whilst the relationship between G and her husband The Duke of Devonshire is cruel and twisted.

The Duchess was a pleasure to watch - the wealth, the locations, the gowns and the acting was great, the only bad thing about this movie was it made me cry and cry and cry. When it ended i felt very emotional and just sat there weeping.

Having cried my eyes out at The Duchess this was probably not a wise choice for my next movie to watch. The Boy In The Striped Pajamas was not what i was expecting, for starters i guessed it was a subtitled movie when infact most of the cast were British and spoke like Eastenders extras.

I do not want to give too much away about the movie but its pulls on your heart, its an amazing example of how innocent young children are and how they view the world around them. This movie made me COL - cry out loud.

Tormented (2009,  R)
Tormented
Difficult to rate,i cant decide if it was utter rubbish, boring or okay. It was not an horror movie but it was not funny either...it was kind of pointless and full of nothingness.

The Damned (These Are the Damned) (1963,  Unrated)
The Damned (These Are the Damned)
I was disappointed with The Damned,it takes what seems like forever for the main storyline to get going because time is wasted on sub-plots that are pretty pointless. No scares or tension,no horror and the sci-fi feature is lame. It was almost like 2 movies had been edited together by accident, one the tale of a violent gang whose ringleader wants to shag his sister and the other story a mad scientist experimenting on children, the two together just did not work.
