Clean (2005, R)
Assayas has surely done few films but their cinematic value is filled with luminous energy.Cheung of course is the real maze here.Whilst the story process isn't the very best (Sherrybaby copied elements on the relationship between Emily and her son) and even if the dull moments of silence will annoy you,the heroine's loneliness will enrage you.A small pearl from Assayas. |

Exiles (Exils) (2004, Unrated)
Avoid one of the comments below, the film is original. If people still think Mamma Mias and Rents are the sole disposals of "entertainment",well they're wrong.Music comes from various backgrounds.Exils has a pair of most beloved protagonists and a dynamic beat.Of course it's a music movie, road trip fused with sounds and wonders.Identity and nostalgia.Common themes and yet Gatlif likes what he accomplishes. He should absolutely enchant us but with better scripts next time. |

Fahrenheit 9/11 (2004, R)
Plastic trees and not fake.Moore attacks the "emperor" and he forgets to wear his own clothes. It's incredible how much this film separates republican views from democratic ( which is pathetic since there's no political liberty, just simple duality). So Moore shows one-dimensional attitude.Fair enough. But why does it seem he offers an amusing propaganda and nothing more?Of course Bush is a prick and a new Hitler (along with other minions),one documentary however isn't a sort of war machine.Where is the irony? |

The Holy Girl (La Nina Santa) (2005, R)
Martel defies the canonized "Catholic" topics by alienating the values of love, detest and sickness.Inner sickness, vacant passion and finally, that tempest called teenage years. The languid pace of the film doesn't repulse the viewer,on the contrary...I felt more repulsed by the holiness of certain characters, thus giving me a reason to disrespect their religiousness. |
