The Missing (2003, R)
A unique Westerner -- has elements of myth, crime, good old-fashioned gunfights, and family issues. Basically a rancher woman's (Cate Blanchett) 2 daughters are taken out to town by a family friend when they are attacked, the friend killed, and one of the the daughters is kidnapped. The mother finds one of the girls almost immediately, but her eldest is missing, so with the help of her long estranged father she sets out to retrieve her from the bad guys. The Missing is a decent Western flick, but I got bored...something just doesn't click, not sure what. |

The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King (2003, PG-13)
Superb! Spectacular! A glorious epic revolving around honor, friendship, loyalty, love, and of course saving the world, lol. It's so refreshing because these qualities seem to be missing from many films. Acting and directing is top notch..score is truly incredible. Everything is absolutely perfect. Lord of the Rings unquestionably deserved Best Picture!! |
