Boys Don't Cry
I disagree with the academy and critics on this. I have nothing against homosexuality, but this was done all wrong. It's hard to admit or even doubt a movie if it's inspired and based on a true tragedy that's happened. This wasn't hard at all to get out.

Hillary Swank has the redneck charm to consume herself in this character and that's where it ends. She was not believable as a boy from the outside, nor in any other way. Her face and hair scream dike and to think that she's actually a male just doesn't fit together. Wasn't it obvious. Did the brutal interrogation of her sexual identity at least come by believable. Sure enough it did. Though, I have no confidence in her performance or appearance as Teena Brandon. The only close-cornered likeness was the hair-cut, and that was plainly off as well.

Teena Brandon had a strong face. It had intensity and masculinity heightened. She wasn't "butch", but she was easier to mistaken genders with. Instead of the jolly, always smiling Joe that Swank portrayed, the real Brandon was as persuaded with her sexuality as she was with her body. She wouldn't act like girl being a boy, she was a boy. No giggles, no pressure, no falseness or visible shed from her reality, just the mental build and nothing else.

Okay, so most adaptions don't go so in depth with each and every detail. More than most of the time events and dialog will be exaggerated. But characters need no change. History can never change, so leave it as it was remembered. Don't vary it on how either the audience would react to it or thinking a change might be the trick to spicing it up; forget all thoughts to change the past. Revive it, but don't harm it.

[new review coming soon]

As plain and simple as i can express it: this is the most exhilarating film i have ever witnessed. from the second it started i was entertained. it had a nice opening scene and after that, i was anticipating ever other scene to come along. Never have i seen a film with such detail. it was nearly-perfect, the music was superb and the visuals were vicious eye-candy. this also carried the always mind-blowing, creative art of foreshadow. however, to tend to miss all the noticeable clues during your first viewing. this is again, a movie you will have to watch a few times. One of the biggest themes of this film was how dark and horrifying the atmosphere is, yet it did spring in some raunchy and risque humor. but what impressed me the most was the character's lifestyle. he needed a serious change in his life if he were to carry on in the world. and he did change his life...but later, he realizes just how much change he had. it may be confusing to interpret what i have written, but it will all make sense when you see the film.

...AND: In my opinion, a movie is only as good as its ending. Most of you may disagree, but to me every film needs a surprising way of climaxing. Cliff-hangers DO NOT fall under this category. Sorry, they just don't. Anyway, the reason as to why FIGHT CLUB is my all-time favorite movie, is because it has EVERYTHING I look for in a movie. "Are you watching closely?". Here's what it has that makes it such an irresistible experience - Narration, Dark Humor, Foreshadow, Cliches, Morals, Remarkable Special Effects, An Original Score, Twists & Turns, Split-personality, Feuds, Relationships, Violence, Risque Occurences, Sensational Directing & Aacting [...and lastly...] The Most Instense & Surprising Ending Ever Shown On Screen!

FIGHT CLUB = PERFECTION

Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace
now, what exactly was Lucas thinking when he made this movie? did he assume that no matter what he had to offer us, that this film would end in success? i honestly dont know. Actually, i dont think it's fair to judge him like that. Prequels are a tricky thing to perfect, let alone make even the least bit entertaining. Lucas wanted a way to start Star Wars from the beginning, a way to show a side of Anikin that we never had the chance to see. As we watched him fight for the Dark Side, hoping that the idea of making 3 prequles to the saga all about his awakening and transformation into the ruthless Vader was a dream come true for many excited fans. As soon as the opening credits rolled the sold out theater had cheered and screamed there heads off. But when the end credits rolled, the excited had faded with the lonely sounds of sighs and tears. Such a built-up hype deserved an epic appearence. As to why it was so painful to enjoy, well, let me just say it lacked the following a movie should have: a good plot, decent acting by ALL performers, a purpose, dialouge that tells more than just a story or feable, pointless terms.
i'm sure there is alot that i left out, mainly being that all we got to see was Anikin as a bratty, selfish, careless boy. I would expected more of him as a Light character. the observation of being a boy alone does not provide that.
