A whole lot better than I thought it would be. Joel Schumacher certainly redeamed himself with this one. The plot is very heart wrenching. Colin Farrell's character is extremely deep and he is fascinating to watch. To begin with he seems like just an arrogant guy but as the film goes on you really begin to like and respect him for help out the other, more disadvantaged members of the platoon. By the end when he drives off in the truck I was close to tears. The other characters are all brilliant to watch as well. The ending was fantastic and the whole film is one of the best anti-war films i've ever seen. I liked that the word Fuck as used 276 times throughout this film. I think this is an extremely under-rated film and the actors deserve more credit for it because throughout filming the had no luxuries including trailers, make-up artists, hairstylists and chairs. Couldn't have been easy. A must see anti-war film.

American Outlaws (2001,  PG-13)
American Outlaws
Westerns aren't really my types of film. I don't tend to enjoy them as much as I would any other genre. But in this case I couldn't say no to Colin Farrell and Gabriel Macht. I didn't have a clue what it was about until about halfway through when the name Jesse James finally registered. Not the best Western, of very few, that i've ever seen. The stunt sequences were pretty average. Nothing special about the directing or the characterisation. That acting wasn't bad from Farrell and Macht. Although an Irishman playing an American figure like this was a bit odd. The rest of the cast were forgettable, especially Ali Larter. She just seemed completely out of place the whole way through the film. Not a film I would recommend unless you're a huge fan of one of the actors involved because any fan of Westerns would probably find this a really shit movie. I thought it was below average.

Minority Report (2002,  PG-13)
Minority Report
Really enjoyable film. Tom Cruise does an excellent job. It really is his type of film. If you like his other stuff then chances are your going to like this as well. Far removed from anything i'd expect Colin Farrell to do though. Not so much the film, more the character that he played and the way he played it. Never seen him do anything like this before. It was weird and very different but I really liked it. Shows just how versitile he is. The plot is really good and enjoyable. Not really much to complain about.

The Recruit (2003,  PG-13)
The Recruit
Decent thriller with decent performances. There is nothing outstanding from either Al Pacino or Colin Farrell but they were both solid through out and you can't complain about that. The plot was good. It kept me interested and desperate to know what exactly what was going on. Especially the few scenes just before they reveal what exactly is going on. A must see for Thriller fans.

Daredevil (2003,  PG-13)
Daredevil
Pretty decent comic book movie. Ben Affleck is surprisingly good at playing Daredevil. The plot is solid and entertaining as well. Colin Farrell is just great especially with his broad Irish accent. It's a decent film, and if you're into comic book movies like Batman and Spider-Man then this is a must see.

Phone Booth (2003,  R)
Phone Booth
Really good film. At first I didn't think so. When I watched it first I thought it was a little boring and pointless. When I watched it again, I thought it was actually quite good. It's a clever film that possibly takes more than one viewing to completely understand it. Colin Farrell's performance is pretty good as well, he's the one that stands out the most. I can't stand Katie Holmes, he performance is pathetic. Forest Whitaker gives a decent performance as well. A good entertaining film.

Intermission (2003,  R)
Intermission
I've been dying to see this film for ages but I have to say it was a huge disappointment. I was looking forward to seeing Colin Farrell and Cillian Murphy together and although they were both really good Murphy seemed to steal the show from all the other characters with the best performance. The rest of the cast did a fairly good job but it was the plot and the set up of the film that seemed like a bit of a mess. It didn't really know what it was wanting to say or do. I see that some people really like this film and others hate it. I'm sitting firmly on the fence. I guess i'll recommended it because it's a film you've got to make your own mind up about.

S.W.A.T. (2003,  PG-13)
S.W.A.T.
I've waited ages to see this film and it didn't disappoint in the slightest. Colin Farrell is great. Perhaps not his best performance but fantastic all the same. The same goes for Samual L. Jackson. LL Cool J is great as usual and this role suits him perfectly. Michelle Rodriguez is also suited to the type of character as well. Great action packed american police film. One of my favorites. I should have rented it sooner.

A Home at the End of the World (2004,  R)
A Home at the End of the World
Excellent film that i've been waiting for ages to see. Finally managed to get a hold of a copy and not a disappointment in the slightest. It has a lot to say about modern living that really is important in today's society. Dallas Roberts gave an excellent performance as Jonathon. And Robin Wright Penn was excellent as always but it has to Colin Farrell that stole the show. This character proves his acting ability really well because the character is very much far removed from what he is like in real life. His character is innocent and slightly naive so you can't help but fall in love with him. It's an amazing film that really should be seen by everyone.

Alexander (2004,  R)
Alexander
A lot of people say this film is a load of rubbish. Perhaps it's a little too long but other than that I think it's a decent film. The director's cut is even better. The history is fairly accurate, more so than many other films. The acting is very good. Colin Farrell's performance is above average and I don't see anything to complain about. I read that loads of people have a problem with all the actors having Irish accents. First of all I love the Irish accent so it didn't bother me, but I read somewhere that it also represented the difference between the Macedonian's and the Greek classes. Val Kilmer did a brilliant job. I also cannot finish writing this review without mentioning Jonathan Rhys-Meyers. He isn't mentioned in the cast list and certainly deserves it. He is a brilliant actor and plays his character beautifully. I think people shouldn't be so critical of this film before seeing it. Don't have preconcieved ideas of it either. Watch it and make up your own mind.

Ask the Dust
Really fantastic film. Colin Farrell did a great job and as a bonas he gets his kit off. Outstanding acting from him and one of his best films. I could never picture him playing a character like this but he does a fantastic job. Salma Hayek also does a brilliant job. This character suits her perfectly and she doesn't disappoint. Donald Sutherland only has a small role but pops up frequently in the duration of the film and does an excellent job as usual. Really beautiful love story. A must see film.

Miami Vice (2006,  R)
Miami Vice
I really did think it wasn't going to be as bad as people make it out to be. Oh how wrong was I. I love Colin Farrell and i'm sure he's a great actor but he just didn't prove me right in this film. Jamie Foxx disappointed me as well. His performance was weak which is just not what you expect from an actor like him. The plot was what made it really bad though. It was weak and unentertaining. A film to avoid for sure.

Cassandra's Dream (2007,  PG-13)
Cassandra's Dream
Another decent but nothing special film from the master that is Woody Allen. He really is an excellent film maker and this one is good but obviously far from his best work. It isn't quite as good as Match Point. That one flowed a lot better and the ending was stronger. Colin Farrell and Ewan McGregor work well together. Farrell is the stronger one of the two in terms of acting. His performance is far superior compared to McGregor's. The accents bothered me a little. They were both meant to be convincing characters from London and yet they cast a Scot and an Irishman. Doesn't really add up. McGregor cannot do accents so he really should just stop. Producers should accept the accent or not cast him. Farrell was slightly more convincing in that respect. The plot was good but didn't draw you in as much as Allen's films usually do. The rest of the actors were forgettable but this was still a worth while film. I would recommend it to people who like Woody Allen's work as it is very typical of him with the style and plot.

In Bruges (2008,  R)
In Bruges
I don't know why but I kind of laid off seeing this film for quite a while and I now regret it because it really was brilliant. Colin Farrell steals the show with a stunning performance of a complicated and troubled character. Brendan Gleeson is brilliant as well playing another hit man. I love that the characters are not typical types of hit men. You know that they have done some really terrible things and yet you really feel for them and really don't wish any harm to come to them. This in a lot of ways reminded me of the Sam Jackson and John Travolta in Pulp Fiction because in the same way you really like them even though they could be considered horrible people. Ralph Fiennes plays the mob boss really well and although you don't get to see much of his character until the end of the film the characterisation was brilliant especially when you got to see him speaking to his children, really gave you a look into the character. The thing I loved most about this film would have to be the ending though. No, not because I wanted it to end but more the way it was carried out. I wasn't sure how they were going to end it successfully. And they did so and a little more. I'm not going to say exactly what happens because it would spoil it but it works so well.
