For me this is A. Minghella's greatest achievement , far superior to the mishmash "Cold mountain",
I always think of "The english patient" as a great and intelligent puzzle , because of how the story is told. I only wish I read the book before, so that I could make a proper comparison.
It is a movie that is extremely meticulous , nothing is random: the script is good, the dialog is engaging, the cinematography is breathtaking, the music is emotional and interesting (I love those songs in hungarian, really beautiful), the acting is great too; Ralph Fiennes as count Almasy is impressive, one of this best parts, I think.
The only problem I might have are some of the choices made by the characters, but I guess in love and war anything goes.

How could anyone on this planet, not pick Mister Darcy, sorry, I meant Colin Firth, not beeing disrespectful to Jeffrey Dean Morgan, he seems nice and all,but come on!
The movie fallows the same recipe: 2 antagonists, a man and a woman who eventually fall in love. Nothing new under the sun. The formula usually works on condition that the leading man and leading lady deliver some sparks. No chemistry, no movie.
