Heavy Metal (1981, R)
For those of you who thought that Betty Boop and Jessica Rabbit were as sexy as cartoon characters could get, here is a film that may well change the way you perceive animation. Indeed, "Heavy Metal" epitomizes the expression "sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll". Featuring extensive scenes of cartoon violence and lots of naked women, this is a far cry from "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". |

Batman Returns (1992, PG-13)
This is it: Tim Burton's most perfect masterpiece!!! Kudos to everyone involved: the sets are awe-inspiring and Danny Elfman's score is wonderfully gloomy! Extra kudos to Danny DeVito for turning a comical villain into one of the most memorable tragic monsters ever! His sheer grandiloquence and bizzareness in the role of the Penguin make him worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as Quasimodo and the Phantom of the Opera! Lon Chaney would be proud! |
