martain and caine are superb, and great comic moments, from both actors, caine is a conman living in south of france, making a nice and rich living conning single women as a prince, but when martain turns up he feels thretend, and makes a deal the first person to con the lady of there choosing the other will leave town, so from this point the two go at it as a women played by glenn headley is set upon, each one trying to out do each other with various lies, and deciet, and through all this manage to be working together but still carrying out bet, some great moments here, martain as a wheelchair bound war veteran, and caine as a doctor who can help him is so funny and well executed, each actor goin that little bit further each time, and of course martain as caines dumb and stupid brother, is hilarious, what i love about this film is, even though these guys are competing, it never gets evil or turns dark, and is lighthearted throughout, even though situations could take it places much darker, a great double act, and great 3rd act which throws you, and in a way a great twist, and certainly makes sence, lush setting in south of france, and a easy going pace, a great comedy gem from the 80s

ridley scott leisurely directs nic cage, in a great con caper, and in alison lohan a superb performance as his daughter, he never knew he had, and having to get her mixed up in his dealings with cons, and especially a con that hes working on, which will make him very rich, con really is the name of the game in this film, and along with sam rockwells charactor along for the ride, its hard to tell whos doing who, and not knowing how its going to go, is interesting to watch, and believe me, the outcome is not what youll expect, the whole film s handled well by scott, shot nicely, with some great moments, cage, plays his manic cage, with lots of quirks, which i know a lt of people dont like, but hes great, probely in my top 5 ridley scott films

great conman film as smith plays a guy pretending ro be poitiers son, and cons his way into different families, hes never better here

matt damon isc creepy ripley a guy just seeking attension, and will do anything to maintain a lie while taking someones life, damon as always is tense in a great 30s setting, and a great jude law and phillip seymour hoffman backing things up, although can paltrows charactor really be that nice, hmm

conmen film set in los angeles, john c riley and diego luna star as 2 conmen, who come into possession of a piece of currency, that they find out is very valuble, they need tro pass it off and spend a frantic day in l.a sorting things out , trying to get things into motion, with obstacles coming at every turn, to ruin there plans, they hear of a businessman, who may be interested, at a hotel, where rileys sister works, a exellent performance from mggie gyllenhall, will they sell it by a deadline, its great finding out, great performances all round a great main role for riley, great l.a locations, and a great twist at the end which hopefully will have you watching again, interesting point, this is a remake of argentinian film, nine queens, which is also very good, and criminal, keeps it faithful

anyon who saw the film ciminal, with john c riley should check this out, as this is the original which criminal is based, story cocerning a conman who witnsses another conman going about his business badly, so intervines when he gets caught, from this point he takes the guy under his wing, teaching him tricks and as hes setting up a big scam, wil invole him, as hes been left in te lurch by his partner, a great conman film from argentina the set up is great and simple to follow, certainly in my top ten conman flms, but whos scaming who and why, might keep you guessing, the two guys work well together, as there in every scene, and great direction as well, telling you how much crimial is similer to this i wont say, as it may spoil your enjoymnt of either one as, theres more to it than you think. im also fully recommending that fim as well, criminal is a very good remake, watch this then the other, its actually a good doube bill.

interesting true life story, based on a novelist, whos running out of options when his latest book isnt picked up for publication, he picks up on the idea that, if he tells his publishers he doing a biography on businessman howard hughes, with hughes permission, which he hasent, it will work, as hughes was known for being a recluse, and not talking to his closest business men, so he then takes on the task of writing the book, getting information, from hughes assosiates, and trying to get into the mind of hgughes him self, things get complicated when payment is exchanged, and hughes assosiates are on to what is going on, a great little look at what you can or can not get away with when your subject is a looney like hughes, and a sinister lok at what hughes might have been involved with during his later years of his life, and connectiobs with the goverment, great performances from all, especially alfred molina as geres friend in on the act. a good watch
