The Escapist (2008,  Unrated)
The Escapist
Brian Cox, Steven Mackintosh and Liam Cunningham are just a few talents who star in this British prison Drama.

Set at a fairly slow pace, yet a high standard of acting that keeps your interest throughout. The flashbacks keep your mind focussed on the story at hand and this allows for a chance to get to know the characters individually.

There was an element here which I feel was risky and brave, in that some of the Actors cast for the roles of the characters were in some senses, out of their usual comfort zones, particularly in the case of Damien Lewis, who seems an unlikely choice to play the King of the prison and yet all the characters worked really well and it was a risk which paid off.

I would love to think that this one will be widely enjoyed and that, I will have to wait and see.

Manhunter (1986,  R)
Manhunter
The original film of Red Draggon, probably should have watched this before the Hannibal films as it's not as good in comparison
3
Troy (2004,  R)
Troy
A huge Epic with a great cast. For me the one person who stood out, was Brian Cox as a supporting Actor. Brad Pitt, of course, looked every bit the role of Achiles and Eric Bana was another great choice.

A very enjoyable film, with some great battle scenes.
4
The Boxer (1997,  R)
The Boxer
Just a tad drawn out, but wonderful performances all around with a powerful topic.
5
The Bourne Identity (2002,  PG-13)
The Bourne Identity
A lot better than I remember it being, I think perhaps Matt Damon is more suited to Action films as I tend to find him a little unintereresting as a serious actor. The plot was action filled and good from stsart to finish.
6
The Bourne Supremacy (2004,  PG-13)
7
The Ring (2002,  PG-13)
8
Braveheart (1995,  R)
Braveheart
Quite a film and I'm ashamed to say, a story I knew very little about. A great historical tribute to Scotland's hero.

Therer wer some scenes where I lost concentration, but all in all a well made film.
9
The Long Kiss Goodnight (1996,  R)
10
Zodiac (2007,  R)
Zodiac
Slightly disappointed by the build up of this film, was hoping it would make the 5 stars. I still enjoyed it though and is a very detailed version of events in comparrison to the last film made about The Zodiac. A great performance by Jake Gyllenhaal and not a bad performance from Robert Downey Jr.

The special features are definitely worth a watch if you want to look at some of the real life characters and facts.

VERDICT: A very interesting account of the story, definitely worth a watch.

A fairly new list for me, but Brian Cox is clearly a great Actor whom I'm sure I am going to like more and more.
