Goya's Ghosts (2007,  R)

Babel (2006,  R)
Babel
Excellent ambitious multi-narrative drama which a gunshot in Africa has consequent repercussions in Mexico, the United States and Japan. I like two different individual stories are a wound American tourist who got shot in a bus by one of Moroccan brothers; and a deaf mute Tokyo teenager who struggles with an inattentive father, an inquisitive cop and a voracious sexual awakening. An unknown Japanese actress Rinko Kikuchi does an impressive performance by playing as a deaf-mute teenager where I could see her sign languages - I understood some, but very different from my own, because I'm a supporter of the deaf culture.

What the Bleep!?: Down the Rabbit Hole (2006,  Unrated)

Very good suspenseful with Elisha Cuthbert and Camilla Belle. It's like American Beauty meets When the Deaf Man Heard in the female version of thriller film.

What the Bleep Do We Know!? (2004,  Unrated)
What the Bleep Do We Know!?
It seems a fine documentary as I like Marlee Matlin who appears in that special interest film. (Disappointed it has no English substitles on DVD - that's impossible because it has support for the deaf culture including Marlee Matlin).

MVP: Most Valuable Primate (2000,  PG)
MVP: Most Valuable Primate
This family movie with a chimpanzee is so funny and surprised to see a deaf girl appear to use her sign languages who befriends a chimp to communicate each other. But sometimes it looks ridiculous with lots of mistake in the scenes between a girl and chimp while they are acting. In the ice-hockey game that gives me good memory since one of my best and favourite family movie, The Mighty Ducks.
18
The Miracle Worker (2000,  Unrated)
19
The Replacements (2000,  PG-13)
The Replacements
Really hilarious of the American football team and hottest of the cheerleaders. I was so happy to see a deaf guy appeared as one of players of the cool team in this sport comedy film with use his own American Sign Languages.

Speed 2 - Cruise Control (1997,  PG-13)
Speed 2 - Cruise Control
A big, loud, disappointing sequel that wastes the talent of everyone involved in a cruise ship. Director Jan De Bont still pours energy into the effects, but the story and performances lack that polish and care.

Dead Silence (1997,  R)
Dead Silence
This gripping and exciting thriller turns on a clever premise; a trio of violent psychopaths hold a busload of deaf-mute students hostage in a standoff with the police. The duel between the seasoned hostage negotiator (James Garner) and the hostage takers is superbly crafted. And I like Marlee Matlin's character as a confident teacher of the deaf who's trying to protect and plan to escape with her deaf students away from the psychopaths. The movie is well acted, and the on location photography is acceptable.
Highly recommendation!

Breaking Through (After the Silence) (1996,  Unrated)
Breaking Through (After the Silence)
What a masterpiece and emotional TV movie and the best deaf cultures film in the history I ever watched. Kellie Martin's performance is masterful remembering she cannot speak, and her adoption of the sign language is also brilliant. And JoBeth Williams is strong as the social worker, trying against the odds to rescue Kellie, and the supporting cast are all good. Highly recommended!

Beyond Silence (1996,  R)

It's My Party (1996,  R)

Mr. Holland's Opus (1995,  PG)
Mr. Holland's Opus
Extraordinatry lifetime of a music teacher by helping his students reach their goals. Dreyfuss did very well in American sign language on the scenes to communicate with his deaf son.
34
Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994,  R)
Four Weddings and a Funeral
The ensemble cast give this clever comedy-drama film true charm. Rowan Atkinson is hilarious as a nervous novice priest.
35
Danielle Steel's Once in a Lifetime (,  Unrated)
36
The River Wild (1994,  PG-13)
The River Wild
I started to like Meryl Streep in this adventure-thriler film because she's fantastic for the American deaf culture by using American sign language in her character. And she successfully invades Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone territory when her family is terrorized by a psychotic killer while on a white-water rafting vacation.
37
Against Her Will: The Carrie Buck Story (1994,  Unrated)
38
Hear No Evil (1993,  R)
Hear No Evil
Magnificent thriller of a deaf athletic trainer who finds herself living a nightmare after a client plants a rare coin on her. The deaf angle gives this thriller a decent edge that I like it so much for my support of deaf culture.
39
L'Homme au masque d'or (The Man in the Golden Mask) (1991,  Unrated)
40
Wildflower (1991,  PG-13)
41
Bridge to Silence (1989,  Unrated)
Bridge to Silence
Wonderful performances by a talented cast, including Marlee Matlin in her first speaking role, cannot quite overcome a melodramatic story in which a deaf woman nearly loses custody of her daughter to the mother who never understand her. I always regards the deaf culture for the rights to communicate with hearing people to give great friendships and relationships that can make you understand positively.

The Linguini Incident (1992,  R)
