Johnny Depp, my favourite chameleon. Well known for his portrayals of offbeat, eccentric characters.

Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl
Viewed this swashbuckling fantasy again and found it to be just as good as it was the first time. So it's two and a half hours long. I didn't notice it. Depp's performance aside, the best element of this 2003 picture is the story, a sweeping action-adventure story. It was stylishly designed and shot. Let's not forget Geoffrey Rush, he was suitably menacing and chilling with a touch of humor. A true treasure of a movie!

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
The Davy Jones character was fantastic, played so convincingly by Bill Nighy. The costume designs were even more outstanding and the locations look just breathtaking in Blue Ray. POTC 2 is indeed darker than the first. It is still filled with lots of action and adventure but I found it to be lacking of freshness in story. Some of the best dialogues came from the 1st POTC.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (2007,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
At wits end, I must say! This one in my opinion deserves to walk the plank, fed to the sharks. POTC 1 was too amazing for words. POTC 2 was not bad but the 3rd, where to start? The first problem with the movie is that Jack Sparrow isn't seen for half an hour and when he does come on, it one of the worst opening scene for him. You can find some of the most dimwitted dialogue here. The story was too long, clocking in at almost three hours. By the time it ends I got a tad seasick.

Don Juan DeMarco (1994,  PG-13)
Don Juan DeMarco
Quote:Every true lover knows that the moment of greatest satisfaction comes when ecstasy is long over and he beholds before him the flower that has blossomed beneath his touch.
It is interesing and has an unexpected plot. I was not even aware that Johnny Depp and Marlon Brando made a movie together. My favourite chameleon , Depp hypnotically believeable as Don Juan, the world's greatest lover, the legendary 17th-century Spanish lover.
Of course, it is always good to have the great Marlon Brandon on the screen.
Guys ought to pay some attention to this movie;)
Don Juan/Depp quoted: No woman has ever left my arms unsatisfied,"

Platoon
A war movie that is close to perfection. Each time I watch this, I appreciated this Oliver Stone's masterpiece more(wrote and directed). It portrays the very harsh realities of Nam war. Best ever performance from Charlie Sheen.

Public Enemies (2009,  R)
Public Enemies
Reasons I wanted to watch this one soooooooooo badly: Direction by Michael Mann. Bale n Depp against each other and who could forget the phenomenal performance by the luminous Marion Cotillard in La vie en rose. All the winning formula here right? Well it is not a total disaster of a movie but not quite up there with Heat. What s with shaky, quick-cutting camerawork style, I know it was intended to give it a sense of urgency and adrenaline, but to me it was downright distracting. One of the worst cinematography I ve encountered. What I find thats pretty good here were the elaborately staged shoot-out sequences by Mann aka King of film shootouts and Depp was mesmerizing as Dillinger.
Trivia: When Dillinger's body was lying in the street outside the Biograph theater, many by-standers dipped handkerchiefs in his blood to keep as a souvenir.
