Boogie Nights is a film about the rise and fall of young pornstar, Dirk Diggler (Mark Wahlberg) in the 70's porn industry.

Now, I know that by reading this you get a sense of idea that this is sort of like a porn flick. Well it isn't, its more like a drama genre film about the life in the porn industry...if that makes any sense.

This being my very first time watching a Paul Thomas Anderson's film, I was fairly surprised and impressed as I've never seen anything like this before.

He has created some memorable scenes with originality and style such as the camera panning around the disco. Everything from the set pieces (behind the scenes portrayal of a porn shoot) to the soundtrack is simply amazing. Anderson manages to keep the film entertaining until the end concentrating on style as well as content.

The performances are pretty good here too. Ex-rap star and former Calvin Klien model Mark Wahlberg here proves to be a fine actor and is fairly impressive. Another brilliant performance would go to Julianne Moore, who portrays porn co-star Amber Waves. And of course, the rest of the cast including Heather Graham, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Burt Reynolds, John C. Reilly, Don Cheadle, and William H. Macy and many more are just as good.

Overall, Boogie Nights is truly outstanding with an all-star cast that everyone should check out.
