The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill (2005,  G)
The Wild Parrots of Telegraph Hill 5.0 Stars
Excellent documentary/film especially the extras on the DVD. Must see for animal lovers especially those of the avian variety. Uplifting and realistic views of wild birds living in an urban area. It's a real life story but it reads like one that was very well written.

Breaker Morant 4.0 Stars
Great film about the potential insanity of mixing war, diplomacy, and politics. Solid plot with good characters that keep you hoping against hope till the end which is very crisp and shocking.

The Bridge (2006,  R)
The Bridge 4.0 Stars
Very interesting and well filmed documentary on the Golden Gate bridge, suicides from the bridge, and the families and friends of those who jumped. Includes actual footage of jumpers both being saved and committing their last act. Not a "feel good" movie by any means. It's a very good analysis and observation of depression and the impact of mental illness and behavioral illness on people, their friends and families.

Sunshine (1999) (2000,  R)
Sunshine (1999) 4.0 Stars
Intense film. Explorers several generatoins of Jewish-Hungarian family during Austro-Hungarian empire, Nazis and communism. Includes a Nazi torture scene that still shocks me and I saw this film several years ago. A bit long but so is European history.
