Fabulous. One of the best movies ever made and one of the few that are as good as the book which in it's own is one of the best American books ever written. See it, you'll see it again and again. I know you'll love the score by Elmer Bernstein.

Catch-22 (1970,  R)
Catch-22 5.0 Stars
This, along with M*A*S*H, is one of the greatest satirical anti-war movies. Perhaps add King of Hearts to this list. This is the story of Yosserian, rebel of rebels and yet a medal winning bombadier. This movie is just to much to describe. I mean that. If you've never seen it you must. If you can't see it read it. If you've seen it read it. Double your money back guarantee on this one. Please, take the time. I'ld give it five stars except the book is just sooo much better I can't bring myself to.

M*A*S*H (MASH) (1970,  PG)
M*A*S*H (MASH) 5.0 Stars
Along with Catch - 22 this is tied as best satirical anti-war movie ever. It is just tooo funny while at the same time being an incredibly distrubing commentary on the futility of war. Only barely like the TV show and with much better acting. Imagine the TV show with Robert Duvall playing Frank Burns. Can you even do that? Well that's who plays him here. I promise you'll love this movie!

This is one of the most wonderful yet heavy psycological battle of wills that has ever been fimed, and then a terrifying ending. Richard Widmark was Sidney Poitiers mentor and best friend. They wrote this screenplay for themselves.

This was freaking fantastic! I just watched it and I'll review it again after I've seen it again but for now it's a combanation of 1984, the Phantom of the Opera and Beauty and the Beast with overtures of Faust thrown in. Natalie Portman was superior and the whole ensemble cast was terrific.

Castle Keep (1969,  R)
Castle Keep 4.5 Stars
This is one of my favorite movies of all time. This might take place during WWII, there might be a lot of guns and shooting going on during the movie but fundamentally this is not a war movie. It is a gorgeously intellectual exercise in the futility of war and to a degree, life. There is so much beauty in this movie and it exist on the knife edge of existence. You might not like it, or even want to see it because it is a "war" movie but I promise you that it is so much more than that.

I think that this is close to the most important political movie ever made. I also don't believe that this is just satire. No, no I'm not saying that it's real, I think rather that it's irony, not satire. Unlike a lot of political movies that try to hammer home morales and ethics, either desirous or just missing, this movie pounds home the fact that there is no way of knowing what reality is these days. We, the people have to trust "the system." That all the information we have is what they tell us. How do we know what's true and what's just plain old bullshit. This movie demonstrates that anything is possible, just anything. This movie is increadibly well written and the acting on all parts is just magnificent. I can't recomend this movie highly enough and I'm offering a rare guarantee. If you write me and convince me you really didn't love this movie I'll send you $5. Seriously!

This movie is simply magical. They have made a wonderful telling of the creation of perhaps the greatest of all childrens tales. And they have made it in the midst of tradgedy. One of the best screenplays I have ever witnessed and the acting is superb. By everyone, not just Johnny Depp but Dustin Hoffman, Kate Winslet, everyone. See it but see it with a kid.

I just watched this and it was the most surreal thing I've ever seen. It was like watching Caligula destroying Rome. It is icreadibly well written and Forest Whitaker's performance is a tour d'force. I have always loved him and this performance was a masterpiece. I'm going to recomend this movie for everyone to see. I'm not sure that you all will "like" it. I'm not sure that I "like" it. It's a little like Schindler's List or something on that order but it is simply brilliant cinema and whether you just want to watch some fantastic acting or you are interested in history I think that you should see it. I'm not going to give the money back guarantee on it but I reccomend it to all.
