Ok the first was the most original and the best. The second was the most out there, still the third has to be the most fun. The franchise turned into 'The Pinhead show' from here onwards. This happened with the elm street series, and the third hellraiser turned pinhead into the horror icon that he is today. This film has the best lines, by the man himself, and for the horror freaks, over the top acting and gory. "Save your tears. I'll reap your sorrow slowly. I have centuries to discover the things that make you whimper". Great gruesome fun.

Good idea never really reaching its potential, down to the fact that the film runs more like a training video for the us navy, and to many stereotypical old fashion americanisms for the japanese in the second world war. Still good performances from the leads and fun fighter pilot scenes save the day.

The elm street to bring the series back on target. The second was an original next step for freddy, but the public did'nt want to know. Number 3 brings more of the slap stick freddy attiude that the blood hunger target audience wanted. The third film also brought the freddy wit in bucket loads that would follow the other films. Still there is an original story not just the same from 1 and 2, including more on the fantasy element of dreams. The acting is good considering, and plenty of classic dream sequences with the clawed ones great oneliners.
