Hitch (2005,  PG-13)
Hitch
Will Smith is a brilliant actor and he proves it time and time again. However, in Hitch I just could not bring myself to like him. Eva Mendes is also a pain in the bottom, which detracts a lot of the fun. The direction and plot are excellent and bring tears of laughter, joy, but it just doesn't cut it. This is one of those films that proves the nice guy can get the girl.

The Matrix (1999,  R)
The Matrix
Kinetic, atmospheric, visually stunning, and mind-bending (literally).

Keanu Reeves is amazing. His character has depths, obvious and hidden. I think this is one of the best films of his whole acting career, especially in more recent films i.e. The Day the Earth Stood Still. The acting and direction are brilliant. Each angle and shot is well thought out and done to create tension and a darker atmosphere. The lighting used is also very important as it creates plenty of atmosphere, never failing to keep you on the edge of your seat. The Wachowski brothers have really out done the sci-fi action genre. The Matrix is a film that you will watch and watch again, still being able to find new concepts and ideas that leave more than a little food for thought.

Mean Girls
Okay, so it is a bit better than I expected, but let me tell you now my expectations were low. Real low.

Lindsay Lohan is one of the most annoying actresses (excluding Kate Winslet) that I have ever had to see. She fits in the The Plastics well before she actually "becomes one of them". It has its funny moments, but it tends to demean everything and makes you really wonder what directors these days actually remember about high school. I'm sure almost everyone can vouch for me when I say its nothing like this.
