OH SO GOOD! What a perfectly beautiful, well-told story, illuminated by Emmy Award-winning performances from Meryl Streep (Queen Meryl!), Al Pacino, Jeffrey Wright, & Mary Louise Parker. Rounding out the superb cast is Emma Thomson, Patrick Wilson, Ben Shenkman, & Justin Kirk. Brilliant is an understatement!
One of the best gay romances ever put on film. It's an every day guy looking for more than just the next best thing. Sean Hayes (pre-Will & Grace) is great...
Not for all tastes, I found Boogie Nights to be a masterpiece. Layers and layers of interesting characters, a great script, and incredible acting makes this one not-to-be-missed...
Surprisingly likeable. A unconventional story with a terrific message. It's not without some flaws, but, as gay movies go, this one is quite recommended...
Don't let the coverbox fool you. This is not a "sex drama". It has a clever (if implausible) story, mediocre acting at time, yet somehow it works well...
Astounding portrait of 2 girls who will stop at NOTHING to stay together. Very graphic & unsettling, the fantasy sequences will stick in your head for days. HIGHLY RECCOMENDED...
Not as good as it's predecessor, but still good in all respects. Tackles some heavy issues in a graceful way. The final segment (with Vanessa Redgrave) is certainlt the best. Redgrave is stellar...
One of the most triumphant movies I have ever seen! After seeing this, I thought how sad, some 30 years later, we still continue to fight for gay rights. The whole cast is profound. Sean Penn gives another golden performance. He literally embodies the role of Milk, and deserves another Oscar for it. He was intense, charming, inspirational, & frightened; it truly begs Oscar. 'Milk' is the type of movie that will resonate in my mind (and heart) for a very long time. I can officially say it is the BEST movie of 2008!!!
Under-rated gem! It's one of the best "feel good" movies ever made! The entire cast, down to the intricate, smallest characters, are so interesting & Toni Collette, Rachel Griffiths, and Jeanie Drynan (as the under-apprecciated mom), are terrific! Don't miss...
Even in the realm of gay cinema, this one is outstanding! Thought-provoking, well-acted, sharply written, and fiercely believable. Judith Light gives a stellar performance. It's certainly the best "alternative" film this year...
