Ghost Rider
Oh i really enjoyed this Movie!! Sexy Nicolas Cage was great but the "age thing" with the character confused me as Cage is over 40 so i couldn't really work out what age the character was supposed to be. But thats just my weird mind. Eva Mendes Pretty good as the Love interest and Donal Logue was great as Johnny Blaze's pal. But i loved the darkly delicious Wes Bentley, all mean and brooding as Blackheart!! Great story, Great cast and Acting and fantastic special effects and enough action to keep everyone entertained. Excellent film to relax and just enjoy, not challenging or tough to understand just a easy going funny film. Plus Motorcycles, Fire, Leather Outfits and Death Defying stunts is always a winner for me.

Well my cinamatic viewing of PotC 3 was almost spoiled by the pompous idiot who cackled like a maniacal hyena throughout. However Captian Jack Sparrow to the rescue, and WHAT a rescue it was!!!!

I had such fun, packed to the rafters with humour both verbally and visually. Johnny Depp sparkles again as Captain Jack SAVVY!! The supporting cast are wonderful too, Fantastic acting and a delight to watch. And Miss Swann finally gets to kick some ass and become a top class pirate, here's to girl power! Once again that DAMN monkey steals every scene he's in. But the best scenes are Jacks endless conversations with his imaginary selfs, and the fantsatic epic battle scene at the end. The CGI is stunning, great action scenes and some very pionent scenes too.

Small downer is that the plot is a bit shifty as in its almost as if they have combined 2 stories into one film. And even at nearly 3hrs long it flew by and i was always entertained. So if your looking for a very funny non-interlectually stimulating , action packed intreging film then this is it. Ps stay till after the credits cos theres a small scene slipped in there. the sneaky buggers!

My final thought, applause for a DISNEY film that's opening scene is of men, women and children being hanged for piracy!! Gotta love the irony, its right up there with the assisted suicide of lemings off cliffs????

V for Vendetta
very good movie, excellent combination of political establishment and action. draws on suppression of the people and the overuling power of freedom. the characters are very well develope with a great side plot to V's past and the link between V and Evey was enjoyable to watch. Good acting and excellent cast in Natalie Portman and Hugo Weaving.

REveiw to follow soon.

well what a fantastic movie, very underestimated as it slipped under the hype of the matrix films. Christian Bale is fantastic in this as is Sean Bean. the plot is solid and well thought out, it is fast paced and the fights and gun battles are marvelous! for a film trying to portray an emotionless world this really shines because of the harshness of the characters awakening to the society! very very good film!

Holy Crap !!!! Why was Orlando Bloom cast as the leading player in this film??? It would've been sooooo much better if they got someone who was able to emote and tap into the raw emotion that was needed from the character when leading his people into battle and risking thier lives. Sadly Bloom proves that although a pretty face and a genius with either a cutlass/sword and a bow, he just isn't credable as a rousing leader. I sure as hell wouldn't give my life to a cause after the dull speeches he gives and hell i love a brutal battle. Excellent performances from Edward Norton, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson and Liam Neeson. Best part is the Fantastically brutal and epic fight scenes!

Incredably understated cast in Gerard Butler, David Wenham, Vincent Regan ad Dominic West. Who just work so well and bring great passion and conviction to their characters.

I loved the narration from Wehnam's character that echo's from start to finish, telling the tale of the great Spartan King Leonidas. It really helps to set the dark haunting ethos of this story. Also the dialogue and excellent one liner's such as 'then we will fight in the shade' and 'Because only Spartan women give birth to real men' really created both wit and the power and raw emotion that the story was about.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

It was the truelly astonishing fight scenes that left me stunned. Great brutal battles, Bone crunching sound efffects, blood splatter, limb's flying through the air and good old Spartan Hell fury! All rounded off to the driving tones of an excellent music score.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Another thing I did love was the rousing speeches and that unbridled courage and inteegraty of personal sacrifice and honour. When done right and with actors that make you feel like standing up and grabbing the nearest spear and knife, charging into battle screaming at the top of your lungs, then i know that its a great film.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
But i couldn't give it a full set of stars because i am sick of hollywood pulling this razzle dazzle dust over historic events. I love learning of the ancient cultures and was hoping that this was going to be true to form, and if it wasn't to be a real event portral then fine, fictionalise it but i cant stand when they just mix the too. Why have part real life part fantasy, all it does is creates more problems for the less knowledgable trying to seive through the two.

But with that said if you just want a great epic action adventure with dark themes, blood violence and good old honour and courage then this is a fantastic example!

Hot Fuzz (2007,  R)
Hot Fuzz
Thank you Pegg and Frost for providing another top quality British Action/Comedy film spliced with a love of everything us Brits hold dear. Country villages, Hoodie Bashing, Underage Drinking, Met police incompitance. Creepy Murderous Village Elders and Ingenious "Accidents"!!!

The Cast consists of a multitude of Famous faces from british film and tv, past and present. Jim Broadbent is great as the pleasant, police chief Butterman, who overlooks teen drinking and Punsihes his son, fellow police officer Danny Butterman's drink driving arrest with cake and ice-cream. Simon Pegg is Excellent as Angel, who's every waking moment is upholding the law and police duties. His character has great chemistry with Danny played by Nick Frost. Their scenes are filled with first the cringeworth annoyance of Angel towards the quiet village and his bumbling partner danny. Then you see the funny clever freindship that develops. However i loved Timothy Dalton's character Creepy, funny and just a bit crazed!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The film is filled with great dialogue and excellent one liners, and very funny scenes. The killings / Accidents are gory but not to the extreme and the action scenes are really good and keep with in the humour of the film. The plot is quite good and the ending is really great too. However I did think Shaun of the dead was better, but this is still a great film on its own merits.

Jet Li's Fearless (Huo Yuan Jia) (Legend of a Fighter) (2006,  PG-13)
Jet Li's Fearless (Huo Yuan Jia) (Legend of a Fighter)
Fantastic film. Incredable fight scenes and the martial arts are breath-takingly great. Jet Li as usual is fab and a really great supporting cast. I think that the story was really well depicted, showing some very valuable themes and cultural ideas that are crictical to the development of this story.

The story actually shows the life of Huo Yuanija, a master of Wushu a spirital martial arts movement, and his turmoil at his early life choices, revenge and anger and finally how he redeems himself and establish this inner strenth and humility/ respect for others.

It is an excellent film, a definate for any martial arts fan, packed with action and fights, as well as a great dramatisation. And yes it is all in subtitles but who cares defiantely worth a watch.......well unless your illiterate.

Live Free or Die Hard (2007,  PG-13)
Live Free or Die Hard
Well Mr John McClane please step forward and take a bow!!!! Excellent addition to the Die Hard series, but very different to the other films. Firstly McClane has to protect geeky hacker Matt Farrell (Justin Long) from the "Bad guys" because Farrell has created part of a code being used my internet terrorist to ultimately close the USA down.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

This film is packed with high kicking, gun tooting, car chasing, helicopter killing action that will quite literally have you holding your breath andwatching in amazement at the brutallity of some of the scenes. there is some truelly increadable scenes including the helicopter V's a police car, and the 18 wheeler at the end. And reminiscent of the first film, McClane again ends up hanging on for dear life in an elevator shaft with a fireball below him.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Justin Long provides much needed computer geekyness to the technologically inept detective, and they both play of each other wonderfully and exhibit much needed comedy and one- liners. And i found it quite funny, considering the content.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

When I first herd the internet based terrorism I had doubt it could fall rather flat, but it works soooooo well, new threat for a new age. And Timothy Olyphant is great as the cyber vilans leader, reliant on hired goones and his trusted hackers, he bearly lifts a finger to take out McClane and Farrell. He's smart, cunning, educated, ruthless and determined. Then you have Maggie Q providing that women can kick major ass! i mean she really beats McClane bad.

It really is a great film, solid plot, excellently directed and acted. brilliant cast and trys to tie in very very subtly the previous films. one of my fav quote has to be (from McClane) "you know that cute, kung fu-ing hooker bitch that likes to kick people, yay well last time i saw her she was at the bottom of a elevator shaft with a 4x4 shoved up her ass!!"
Classic!

Big Trouble in Little China (1986,  PG-13)
Big Trouble in Little China
A little bit dated now compared to the special effects and computer wizardy. ut still a really good film. kurt russell just has this way of making you grin when he's on screen, great performance, as truck driving, ass kicking, sword throwing Jack Burton. Some excelent action. Kim Cattrall is ok but her acting seems very forced at times.

Ever thing you could ask for for a fun film, story is simple. Its filled with fab one liners, very funny scenes and great dialogue especially from Russell. requiring no effort on the veiwers part is excellent you got a love story, mystical creatures, supernatural elements, martial arts, sword fights, ornate sets and a real man who can fill a pair of levi's very well indeed ;)

Transformers (2007,  PG-13)
Transformers
wow! just wow! Its not often i watch a movie and feel just amazed or blown away by it, so when the credits roled I was speechless.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

I mean the story is great, excellently carved out and exicuted. The action is astonishing both visually and audio wise. I mean when those machines transform and attack its incredable, the special affects are just great and they look so real even though there obviously not.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
By far my fav was Optimus Prime, seeing that trucking monster invade the screen was great. There could have been more focus on the other autobots, but what there was, was well done with great action and comedy moments like them hiding on sam's house, and resisting the urge to kill his annoying parents!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Really impressed by the human aspects the cast were great. Astoningly impressed by Shia La Beouf as Sam and megan Fox excellent as his car jacking girl. Also Much priase to Jon Voight, Tyrese Gibson, Josh Duhamel and Hugo Weaving (For a very emotionally charged Voice role). I however did not like John Turturro's character though the performance was good. I actually was hoping for a decepticon possibly a small teethy one to peel the flesh from him a dry freeze him......is that wrong?

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
Ok so besides my insatiably need for torture in a film i loved it i want to own it and i will be very eagarlly awaiting for what could be a highly successful and groundbreaking set of sequels.

Only queruel wasnt the wholesome American message of Self-Sacrifice and one life lost to save the many ruining by the event that occurs with Sam and the cube? But heck i do like the new message why sacrifice ourselfs in a noble act when we can annihalte the enemy by shoving the incendary device up there Asses!
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
What a ride go see it great fun and fantastic jaw dropping action! Funny, sexy cars, big trucks, cute but deadly machines and awesome values like courage, humanity and survival all washed in!

Love live the Earthlings for all our faults we still know how to detect and kick the butts of the enemy!

Shoot 'Em Up (2007,  R)
Shoot 'Em Up

Here's a saying to ponder: "Never piss off the guy with a carrot" Seriously you see a guy with a carrot run the other Fucking way, don't even think just run.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Have you ever seen a film that you know is just not great but you still like it alot for all the over the top utterly ridiculous nature of it. Well this is how I felt watching Shoot 'Em Up. Imagine watching Rambo and Terminator's homeless trigger happy Love Child. Now imagine the character is in a film like Under Siege except It's been pumped full of anabolic steroids, is bursting with testosterone and has snorted 2 pound of cocaine then you may just get the feel of how this film played out.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The plot of this is seriously twisted between plausible and insane. Clive Owen plays Mr Smith, who witnesses a young pregnant women running past him chased by a man with a gun, he steps in to help her causing a full scale shoot out with the baddies, all the while delivering the baby. However the mother gets shot and Smith takes the baby to look after when both the shooting is covered up and the baddies (lead by Paul Giamatti) are determined that newborn Oliver will die.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Now this is the part where the plot starts to get more WTF????? Smith takes the baby to Lactating Hooker (played by Monica Bellucci) who then inadvertently becomes a target so Smith ends up looking after them both in between various shoot outs. He then realizes that Oliver was genetically engineered along with alot of other Babies for his bone marrow to treat presidential hopeful, the Senator. And the Baddies are Gun manufacturers that would lose business if the Senator is elected with his harsh gun control policies.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Although the plot I just describe seems plausible (If not slightly insane) it's only when it gets put into action that you see the laughable nature of the story and characters.

Clive Owen is just yummy. Not in the tasty food sense......although what better specimen for cannibalism. Plays a very similar role to the Sin City role of Dwight, in nature and appearance. Brooding, Angry, Dark and menacing. He seems to be a homeless person but still suited like a vengeful biker though, with dark demin and leather, all accompanied with a personal amoury.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Monica Bellucci is great too as lactating hooker who become Oliver's surrigate mum, and into Smith's affections. She's sassy, sexy and quite tough thankfully because I hate the wimp wet noodle kinda female lead in action movies that need to be "protected" like from the sun, strong gust of wind and the occasional horny chicken you know. I like it when the female lead in action movies has balls equally as brassy as the lone gunman.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

Speaking of...Paul Giamatti is fabulous in the role of the protagonist. Absolutely savage and determined to chuck as many hired goons at Smith as he can find. As side from the menacing bastard act, he does provide some comic relief and some great one liners too.

Overall the action is crammed in, There is a Sex scene gun fight (not even kidding), The gun fights are Over the top but fun to watch, The characters are likable, 2 guys get killed with a carrot, The plot is abit ridiculous but scraps through just, Not at all dull and never drags......Did I mention that it is a movie that is Stupidly pumped up and over the top???

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

(OPPS how did that ever get in there)
