dramatic comedy starring Patrick Fugit, Kate Hudson, Billy Crudup, Jason Lee, Frances McDormand and Philip Seymour Hoffman. written and directed by Cameron Crowe.
when fifteen-year-old William Miller (Fugit) is given the opportunity to write an essay on Black Sabbath for Creem Magazine, the aspiring rock journalist attends the band's concert in an attempt to interview Ozzy and the boys. however, when he is denied access and about ready to walk away, it is the new band on the scene, Stillwater, that helps him get his foot in the door. while there, he meets a group of female fans that call themselves Band-Aides, who follow Stillwater and the other music greats around the world. he quickly befriends the leader of the group, Penny Lane (Hudson) and soon finds himself on the road with the band and an assignment from Rolling Stone Magazine. along the way, the teenager becomes a man, learning about music, friendship and love.
first thing that comes to mind when I hear the words Almost Famous? great script and amazing music. Crowe really out-did himself with this one, taking his own experiences as a teen rock journalist for Rolling Stone Magazine and making this beautiful film. and the music... it really is one of the best soundtracks in a long time.
one of my favorite films of all time. I love love love this film! ♥
W00t! Wahlberg, Aniston and cheesy 80s rock... what's not to love about that, eh? Yes, that's right... Rock Star is one of my dirty lil secrets. I love the cheesy acting, love the corny story, but most of all, I love the 80s hair metal. Total awesomeness! ♥
the tale an exhausted rock star who struggles with the constant pressures and the on going demands of her career as she turns to drugs, alcohol and a lover to try and cope with her hectic life. the film has been rumored to have been based loosely on the life of legendary rocker, Janis Joplin.
good story, with a powerful performance by Bette Midler. my favorite of hers to date. much love for the Divine Miss M. ♥
drama starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jamie Foxx. written by Susannah Grant. directed by Joe Wright.
based on the true story of Los Angeles Times' columnist Steve Lopez (Downey) and the relationship that he formed with homeless musical prodigy Nathaniel Anthony Ayers Jr. (Foxx).
such a moving story. wonderfully written and brilliantly acted by these two fine actors. Foxx is once again amazing as the extremely talented Ayers. one's heart truly goes out to him as you see his battle with schizophrenia unfold. beautifully done Mr. Foxx!
One of my very favorite biopics, Walk the Line is a great film all around. Phoenix and Witherspoon both deliver not only amazing acting performances, but they are surprisingly very talented singers as well. The story of Johnny and June is one of my very favorite love stories and this film definitely does it justice. ♥
