Le Pacte des loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf) (2001,  R)
Le Pacte des loups (Brotherhood of the Wolf)
Love this movie!!! I recommend it to everyone.
2
Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor) (2006,  R)
Night Watch (Nochnoi Dozor)
This is by far one of the coolest, boldests, most imaginative movies I have ever seen. This movie is such a mind bender that it is hard to say much about it. It creates such a full and detailed world, it's stunning to see so much done in just one film, without being over done or jamming too much in. The acting is good especially Konstantin Khabensky as Anton. All I have to say is watch this movie at least twice and in a row if at all possible.
3
Serenity (2005,  PG-13)
Serenity
I'm a Browncoat. What more needs to be said? Oh right, if you haven't seen it, SEE it(I recommend seeing Firefly first, but you don't really have to).
4
Returner (Ritana) (2002,  R)
Returner (Ritana)
Exceptional Japanese sci-fi film. It's too much fun to explain. I just wish I could find more movies like this one. And it's live action in case you were wondering (I know when I saw the cover I almost passed it by because it looked like it would be animated).
5
The Fifth Element (1997,  PG-13)
The Fifth Element
Great Movie. All time classic!
6
Interview with the Vampire (1994,  R)
Interview with the Vampire
I love Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles and this is a great adaptation of the first book in that series. It should be no surprise that it stays so true to the characters and story because Ms. Rice is the one that adapted for the screen.
7
Mars Attacks! (1996,  PG-13)
Mars Attacks!
Might just be Tim Burton's best film. But then again Edward Scissorhands was really great too.
8
Twelve Monkeys (12 Monkeys) (1995,  R)
Twelve Monkeys (12 Monkeys)
Terry Gilliam and time travel you know it's got to good.
9
Stargate (1994,  PG-13)
Stargate
I'll admit I'm addicted to SG1, but it's nice to go back to where it all started. Not to mention the special effects were so much better in this movie compared to the TV show.
10
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring (2001,  PG-13)
The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring
My personal favorite of the triology.
11
Jurassic Park (1993,  PG-13)
Jurassic Park
If you haven't seen this yet, there might be something wrong with you or at least your VCR/DVD player.
12
Dark City (1998,  R)
Dark City
"First there was darkness, then came the strangers."
13
La Cité des Enfants Perdus (The City of Lost Children) (1995,  R)
La Cité des Enfants Perdus (The City of Lost Children)
Awesome French movie. Visually remarkable and a really interesting story to boot. Definately worth the rental fee or price to buy.
14
Pitch Black (2000,  R)
Pitch Black
Subtle, good sci-fi. Not big on Vin Diesel, but this is before most people knew his name.
15
Cube (1998,  R)
Cube
A bunch of people stuck in a killer cube with no clue how they got there or why or how to get out. Doesn't sound good does it? But it is.
16
Aeon Flux (2005,  PG-13)
Aeon Flux
I'm not sure why this movie got such negative feedback. As far as I can tell it's a really highly class sci-fi. Not only is it beautiful but it actually has a solid sci-fi story to boot. Also, unlike a lot of movies that look similar it doesn't just rely on action scenes, sure it has some and they're really nice, but it has a story too. And for once the good guys don't win the impossible fight just because they're the good guys (ie Mr & Mrs Smith), there's an actual explination for why they win and they have back up too. Good movie and even if you don't like it, at least it's really pretty (Plenty of eye-candy of both genders ;).
17
Gattaca (1997,  PG-13)
Gattaca
Brilliant film. Solid, intriging story and characters.
18
Primer (2004,  PG-13)
Primer
It looked really boreing, but turned out to be a really great film. A new spin on time travel.
19
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow (2004,  PG)
Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow
You have to see this film just for the visuals alone. OK it gets a little boreing in places but overall it just so amazing.
20
The Prestige (2006,  PG-13)
The Prestige
Really a solid film, keeps you wrapped up the whole time. The cast did an excellent job (with the exception of Johansson but I think I'm just really sick of seeing her in every other film). I figured out most things (not all) before I was suppose to but it didn't hurt the story or the suspence at all. This film had a lot more of a sci-fi bend than I was expecting which made me very happy.

I've heard this film compared to The Illusionist a lot (because they came out at about the same time and are about similar subject matters). Personally I prefer The Prestige I think it has a much tighter story and is far less obvious than The Illusionist. However I can understand why some people would perfer the lighter and less complicated story of The Illusionist.
21
Intacto (2002,  R)
Intacto
I love the concept!!! Stylish and well done all around.
22
Natural City (2004,  R)
Natural City
A fantastic scifi film. This film made me realize how long it's been sense I've seen an actual SciFi movie. If you love scifi you have to see this film. It's similar to Blade Runner but not so close that it's a problem. It has a beautiful romantic story at the heart of it; but not a crappy chick flix romance, so don't worry this is very much a film a guy would enjoy.
23
Blade Runner (1982,  R)
24
Event Horizon (1997,  R)
Event Horizon
When I was little I hated this movie because it gave me bad dreams. Now I've grown up a bit and think this movie is great because it is so well done, well acted and interesting. And no, it doesn't give me bad dreams anymore.
25
eXistenZ (1999,  R)
eXistenZ
"Tell me the truth; are we still in the game?"
Personally I far prefer eXistenZ overCronenberg's earlier film Videodrome even though their storylines are similar.
26
Dune (1984,  PG-13)
27
Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars (2004,  PG)
Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars
Not as good as the series but still really fantastic. I'm so glad the Scapers kept pushing and got this movie made.
