Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006, PG-13)
Great sequel...the same team are on board to bring us a fabulous fun time. Depp once again walks a thin line between vaudeville and camp with his Captain Jack Sparrow. Orlando makes us swoon all over again, and Keira is feisty once again as Elizabeth. Quite obviously the middle of a trilogy, as the ending clearly lets us believe there is more to come. A great outing!! |

Little Miss Sunshine (2006, R)
A gem!! This dysfunctional family get right to your heart and you are carried along with this fun, black comedy. Toni Collette is just right in her role as the stressed out mother trying to cope with a madcap family roadtrip. Steve Carell and Greg Kinnear are also perfect in their respective roles. I couldnt stop laughing at the end..it was chaotic fun. Well recommended. |

Click (2006, PG-13)
Adam Sandler is tops here once more, giving us a comedy movie with a bit of a message. Nothing too fantastic, but still enjoyable enough. One of these "what if" kind of situations...what if you could fast forward thru the worst parts of your life, or mute your annoying dog, and so on. The warning here is, do this and you miss the best part of your life...time with your family. |

Evan Almighty (2007, PG)
This is a very upbeat movie for a depressed world. I would say that Steve Carell's presence stops this from becoming cheesy schmaltz. His steady emotional pallette gives this movie the much needed passion and substance. Great supporting cast, including John Goodman, and a cast of thousands (the animals). Good stuff indeed. |

2 Days in Paris (Deux jours à Paris) (2007, R)
This is wonderfully upbeat and quirky. Two lovers (Delpy and Goldberg) spend two days in Paris and finally get to see where their relationship is heading. Jack has to deal with Marion's crazy family, and her swathe of past lovers (seemingly so). It's a non stop cavalcade of laughs and one liners...from start to finish. |

27 Dresses (2008, PG-13)
Just simply a good uplifting rollicking good time to be had with this movie. It borders on the chick flick line, but with a little more depth than ur usual garden variety chick flick. The set up is fun, and the cast seem to be having fun with it, with a flow on effect to the audience. Great dresses, and just damned fun. |

The Bucket List (2007, PG-13)
Slow building, but the end result is quite well paced. Nicholson and Freeman work well together as two men with terminal cancer who decide to go out with a bang, and enjoy their last days. However, the story runs deeper, and the emotional thread is quite strong, and the bond these two men develop is worth the entry price alone. |

How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (2008, R)
A top fun flick. Simon Pegg has finally hit his stride here, producing a fantastic funny movie that doesnt let up for the whole 90 odd minutes. Kirsten Dunst and Jeff Bridges also make great supporting parts. The script is tight and witty, the story moves smoothly without a hitch. A great entertaining movie. |

Interstate 60 (2002, R)
The dishy James Marsden stars in this slightly loopy flick...with appearances from Michael J Fox, Christopher Lloyd and Gary Oldman. This movie makes you think about how you live your life by your own terms, and believing in your dreams. Slightly twisted and comical, it takes us through a part of America on a highway that doesnt exist in reality!! |

Slumdog Millionaire (2008, R)
This was just the best ive seen for ages. I was hooked from the very start...the storyline moves at a cracking pace, with flashbacks and everything all seamlessly segueing into each other. The rather gorgeous lead keeps us interested with his story of how he appears on "Millionaire" and is made out to be a cheater...but is he?? Brilliant!! |

Guess Who (2005, PG-13)
Its the battle between black and white, and family when Theresa takes her white boyfriend Simon to meet her parents. Her father does all he can to try and stop her from seeing him. As Percy gets to know Simon, things are smoothed out within the family and all live quite happily. Very well done, and all leads mix well together, lots of laughs to be had. Great fun. |

The Game Plan (2007, PG)
Dwayne (The Rock) Johnson is starting to show his acting straps here, and the premise is simple...bigtime footy star has to learn about fatherhood, and about keeping his image intact as well. Great fun is had all round..with a decent screenplay that doesnt get too cheesy. Great work from the support cast. |

Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked) (2009, R)
This is a fabulous piece of cinema. Based on the true events of the late 60's in England where a whole lot of illegal radio stations set up in the North Seas. This is funny, dramatic, tender, whimsy....everything all rolled together. Top scripts, never misses a beat. Once again the ensemble cast all work well together, standouts being Bill Nighy, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Kenneth Brannagh and mention should go to Tom Sturridge as the young man thrust into a crazy debauched world!! Stunning ending...the movie pays tribute to the passion of the early DJ's who really cared about what they played. |

Sydney White (2007, PG-13)
What looks like a typical teen flick turns out to be a rather intelligent modern take on the Snow White and Seven Dwarves fairy tale. Very witty dialogue, with very easy on the eyes leads (including Matt Long - mmmm...he can be my Prince Charming anyday). I enjoyed this from start to finish....it may be a little "leave-your-brain-at-home" but hell...why the hell not...this is just a great fun flick to watch. |
