The Wild One (1954, Unrated)
Brando and Marvin in the same film!! The Wild One is the quintessential biker/ rebel film. Brando is great, as always. Hes a genius just to watch. And then to have Lee Marvin crash the party was an extra special treat! Theres a great scene involving Brando and Marvins character fist fighting and MArvin lying on the ground telling Brando how much he loves him and they should go have a beer together. Typical Marvin there! Great stuff. |

The Horse's Mouth (1958, Unrated)
Incredibly hilarious film has Guinness as an obssessed painter who's social skills are rather mad. Guinness's sweet soothing voice is replaced with that of a man who probably gargles turpentine in the morning. And his antisocial antics make way for some halarious moments including crank calls and even placing himself in a house were the owners go on holiday for weeks just so he can paint his vision of feet! This is a film that should always be mentioned when talking Guinness! Its a masterpiece just like Gulleys paintings! |

The Defiant Ones (1958, Unrated)
Undoubtedly a major message film for its time, The Defiant ones still holds weight in its message of equality. Poitier and Curtis give some of thier best performances here. Aside from the message, this is a great prison break film. Tracking the two antiheros through swamps a lynch hungry town, Theres even an appearance fron Lon Chany Jr. |

The Man Who Knew Too Much (1956, PG)
A fine thriller from Hitchcock. Stewart is incredible as always and Doris Day does a fine job too. I was pleasently suprised to see that Reggie Nalder played the part of an assassin. Its always a good time when hes on the screen. |

Revenge of the Creature (1955, Unrated)
As with the original, Creature From the Black Lagoon, the gill man is the victim. He is the one we feel sorry for. He is kidnapped, tortured and shackled. His home is trashed, polluted and blown to bits. He is not the aggresor. Man is. |

Shack Out on 101 (1955, Unrated)Heres a really wacked out film about a diner thats a front for communist spies. A very young Lee Marvin plays a cook named Slob! And hes every bit of his name. There are random moments of total halarity like when MArvin and Keenan Wynn are lifting weights in the diner, or when Wynn is wearing a scuba suit while holding a spear gun acting like hes on the bottom of the ocean. This film is insane, sleazy And highly recomended! TCM started to play it recently...so check it out!! |
