Zodiac (2007,  R)
Zodiac 4.5 Stars
Several years ago I read Robert Graysmith's book Zodiac Unleashed and when I first heard of this movie I wondered how faithful it'd be. It is MOSTLY faithful to actual events, which made me happy.

It's a long haul of a film, 2 hours and 40 minutes long so don't see it in theatres if that scares you. I can tell you, however, that MOST of the film is fast-paced, and is only slow towards the end.

The acting good by Gyllenhaal, Downey, Jr. and Ruffalo and it's definitely worth it in my opinion, despite its legnth -- you have to remember, it chronicles approx. a 25 year period and it takes time to tell a story the right way.

I also enjoyed the use of music, especially in the beginning half of the film to set the mood of the time (late 1960s, early 70s).

The Station Agent (2003,  R)
The Station Agent 5.0 Stars
What works for this film is that the characters are so real. We ALL know people like them. There's not a stitch of pretention or even a remote lack of authenticity. Not to mention that the cast is perfect.

I've always loved Patricia Clarkson, mostly for her ability to do films like The Station Agent so effortlessly. And Bobby Cannavale is perfect as the well meaning but boundariless guy always inviting himself along. Also, Peter Dinklage is perfect. And Michelle Williams.

This is just good acting anf a good story that makes you want to keep watching.

Oh, and unrelated...If Perrz Hilton were to lose weight and become a conserative dwarf, he'd be Peter Dinklage. They totally look alike.

I have to buy this movie!

Half Nelson (2006,  R)
Half Nelson 5.0 Stars
I had heard quite a bit about this film before seeing it -- I had high hopes, great expectations, and I wasn't let down.

Half Nelson is a film about relationships -- believable relationships. The film speaks for itself, no explanation needed.

The cast is excellent. Ryan Gosling has never made a poor acting choice (with the possible exception of Stay) and delivers again. Anthony Mackie, who I was perviously unaware of by name, is very believable. Of course, the real star is Shareeka Epps who I believe has a real future in acting, as long as she capitalizes on her success.

Just buy this movie right now. Trust me, aftr you see it, you'll want it in your personal collection.

Leonardo DiCaprio really can;t do wrong and when you add Christopher Walken and Tom Hanks to the mix, you know you're in for a great film and this doesn't dissapoint.

It's a good story (true, by the way) and great acting and it keeps you entertained.
