Modern Times (1936,  Unrated)
Modern Times 5.0 Stars
What's so great about this film, is that its able to make an artistic statement, without leaning too much politicaly towards one wing of the other, satirizing both left wing and right wing politcs of the day.

Shriek if You Know What I Did Last Friday the 13th (2000,  R)
Shriek if You Know What I Did Last Friday the 13th 4.0 Stars
this best parody of horror films. Forget Scary Movie, this one is far more clever, with far less toilet-humour

Ghost World (2001,  R)
Ghost World 5.0 Stars
this is one of the saddest films of all time... true to the original source while at the same time introducing a bit of artistic liscence. This film depresses me, but in all the right ways

Pi (1998,  R)
Pi 5.0 Stars
my all time favorite film, detailing the descent into madness and paranoia that can come from obcession with order and perfection, combined with cripiling lonliness. The soundtrack and the black+white shots only heighten the mood of tension, and in the end, realizes if the cost of absolute knowledge is truely worth the price

Star Trek - Insurrection (1998,  PG)
Star Trek - Insurrection 4.0 Stars
not what it could or should have been... It felt more like an extended regular TNG episode more than a feature film... I for one would have rather seen a film featuring the Dominion than this... not to say its a bad film, mind you- it just could have been better

JFK (1991,  R)
JFK 4.0 Stars
Aa powerful film about a bygone era where the terrorist enemies of america were crazy right wing americans instead of crazy terrorists..., if you have the stanima and/or attention span to keep track of all the side plots and tangents- combines the best qualities of political thriller murder mystery, and personal obcession films- Of course the same story could be told in almost half the time, and it does border on pretentiousness, but still an important, well done film that is worth the time
