The Squid and the Whale (2005,  R)
The Squid and the Whale 5.0 Stars
these characters lives are so intriguing and once you get to the end you are wishing you could have lived more with them. I especially enjoyed the two son's. Frank is hilarious from the swearing to the mastubating he's is a loveable 12 year old and then these's Frank who seems completely lost in himself he doesn't really say the right thing at the right time and can be a bit of a mess up but in such a naive way. Both parents were brilliantly played by Linney and Daniels and you sympathized with them and were not able to choose which one you liked better.
great film

Rock 'n' Roll High School (1979,  PG)
Rock 'n' Roll High School 5.0 Stars
This film is not only about the Ramones but they are in it, which makes it automatically genius. Not only that though because it truly is a good story, and Riff Randell is totally one of the coolest characters to grace the big screen

Hard Candy (2006,  R)
Hard Candy 5.0 Stars
A great film that shows the power of women and a very very young woman on top of that. Ellen Page was a fantastic choice for the role of Haley, just the un-sympathetic look on her face when she tortures Jeff (fantastically played by Patrick Wilson), the fact that she can make you feel bad for her adversary who might had been a molestor is just amazing. Genius story aswell

Gangster No. 1 (2000,  R)
Gangster No. 1 5.0 Stars
oh my goodness i cannot tell how much i am in love with this film, it has introduced me to a whole new genre of british mob gangster films. Paul Bettany is absolutly rivating as the no.1 gangster, i love the silent bits where you see him screaming but all you hear is a screech. And the menacing look on his face when he's murdering a foe. I still don't udnerstand why people don't give Paul more praise for his genius work. Paul Mcguigan has created a work of art and his finest moment in the film is the fact that he decided to show the most gruesome murder in the film from the victims perspective, that is pure brilliance!

Me and You and Everyone We Know (2005,  R)
Me and You and Everyone We Know 5.0 Stars
i bought this film before actually having heard anything about it, i picked it up because the sypnoses alone intrigued me and i saw it was distributed by IFC so i knew it was a keeper. I was definetely right, this film has to contain some of the most beautiful character who are so real and down to earth but yet seem to portray a higher sense of beauty in them. It's a story about love, loss of innoncence, tragedy, growing up, discovery, and most of all life.

Planet Terror (Grindhouse Presents) (2007,  R)
Planet Terror (Grindhouse Presents) 5.0 Stars
this has to be one of the BEST modern horror fils, honestly all the gore and the fact that it's a zombie film just made it even better. Rodriguez created something so thrilling and vile it's a horror film buffs wet dream. The only parts i wasn't too fond of were the overly long dance sequence in the beginning and the sex scene, the film could have doine without, but nevertheless it's one of my fav horror films

Running With Scissors (2001,  R)
Running With Scissors 5.0 Stars
i love how the previews don't give anything away and i was blown away by what i was seeing when i finally watched it. It was a lovely surprise to find out that the story had been something so much bigger than what the previews were showing us. I truly loved this film, every character is likeable in their own way. Annette was absolutly fantastic in this so were everyone else. I must say my favorite character had to be Jill Clayburgh's she was just so innocent and lonely and i fell in love. The stories of these messed up families are very captivating and i highly recommend this film

There Will Be Blood (2007,  R)
There Will Be Blood 5.0 Stars
i don't even know where to begin with this film because my petty words wouldnt be enough to praise this film's geniusness. All 2 hours and 38 mins of it were more than worth it. I wasn't too familiar with Daniel-Day Lewis before seeing this film (having only seen 'The Bounty' prior) and now after only this one rivating performance he has become one of my heros. He embodies Plainview to his fullest making you want to like him at the beginning and then making up despise every bit of him. Paul Sunday the boy preacher was amazingly played by Paul Dano who's performance should have been nominated and praised. There isn't one element of this film i do not like, from the directing, to the cinematography, to the soundtrack to the amaizng acting, everything is genius and Paul Thomas Anderson has created a cult classic. Milkshakes for all!!

The Paper Boy (1994,  Unrated)
The Paper Boy 5.0 Stars
This psychotic paperboy has been in my heart ever since i saw it a few years back on the scream channel, it's both terrifying to see such a child so out of control and both funny at the same time. The only good acting in this film though comes from Marc Marut who does an amazing job of portraying the disturbed little Johnny. This film is seriously underrated

Little Miss Sunshine 5.0 Stars
such an original story, this is a film i watch over and over and over again and never cease to find amazement in it. You fall in love with the characters because of the fact that they accept their faults, and learn to accept the faults of their family. This definetly deserved to win best picture because of it's amazingly well written story and the help of the directors and actors. The soundtrack is also genius. one of my favorite films

Juno 5.0 Stars
honestly after seeing it the first time (i saw it twice) i knew this would forever be in my top favorite films, the characters are all hilarious in their own way and you can find a bit of your trueself in all of them esp. the teens. Juno has to be one of the smartest and most real characters we've seen in a long time, they castn the amazing Ellen Page well, aswell as Micheal Cera and Olivia Thirlby. Juno shall be a new classic

I was surprised by how good this film was, im usually not one for these type but i throughly enjoyed the whole thing. Bacon's character determination and change from businessman/family man to angry mass murderer is excellent and he does a great job at it aswell. Also the gun he uses near the near is so sick totally loved that

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4.0 Stars
This film gets props for being the best Nightmare on Elm street, it's another great 80's horror flick that also happens to be hilarious. The deaths are pretty gruesome though esp. for it's time. Freddie is one of my fav villians, and plus he did suck Johnny Depp through a bed sooo cool.

Edward Scissorhands (1990,  PG-13)
Edward Scissorhands 5.0 Stars
This is one of the most beautiful stories ever, Tim Burtons creation that some might see as frightening turns out to be an innocent boy with more love and compassion than any other. i strongly believe Depp should have been nominated at least for this performance because it was absolutely amazing, you fall in love with Edward from the start and feel for him through his perils of having scissors for hands. Depp and Burton's team work created a classic

Benny & Joon (1993,  PG)
Benny & Joon 5.0 Stars
Johnny completely stole the show on this film, his portrayal of Sam was so heart felt. I loved Sam's patience for Joon and her mental illness, he treats he like a regular person and is a true friend. The best scene is in the park though when they are having the picnic and he does the whole card trick affair, it's pure love

Not my favorite Depp film but still a good plot nevertheless. It was interesting to learn of the infamous' Don Juan's life, but it was a bit too much of a pure romance film for me. The ending still makes me sad though

The Astronaut's Wife 4.0 Stars
This is a true creepy film, the plot is that Jillian's husband Spencer goes out to space and an alien takes over his body but keeps Spencer's form and then get Jillian pregnntonce there back because the aliens' plans are to make alien children to take over the world. Good stuff though, what really makes it worth watching though is Depp's amazingly creepy gazed and husky voice that just send chills down your spine.

Sleepy Hollow (1999,  R)
Sleepy Hollow 5.0 Stars
Burton as his best in this film interpretation of the amazing 'Sleepy Hollow' story. The cinematography is so captivating and there really isn't a dull moment in this film. Who better to cast as the naive and afraid but determined Ichabod Crane than Johnny Depp, who did a marvelous job. I also must mention that i believe Miranda Richardson did a great job aswell

The Ninth Gate (2000,  R)
The Ninth Gate 4.5 Stars
this gothic tale is much too underrated, and should definetely be watched. Depp's character Dean does around Europe trying to find a book written by Lucifer himself. Depp played him well bymaking Dean an unsettled and quiet character out on a mission. Polanski's a genius

Lost in La Mancha 3.0 Stars
a great documentaries showing you the hard times of trying to get a film completely all the way through, which didn't even happen. You see the struggles the crew, casts and directors/producers and such have to go through. You feel bad for Terry because all his hard and long work and dream had to be flushed away and what they had of it locked away in the volts.

The Notebook 3.5 Stars
Now i'm not usually into romance films but this one was definetly different and i appreciated that. Both performances by lead actors were great and definetly defined their careers. The story was a bit of an obvious one but it was something you could appreciate and like and not feel awkard with too much gush and such.

300 (2007,  R)
300 1.0 Star
Really not my steeze, im not really into all those action films, to me it was a bunch of gross men with 6 six packs fighting in robes. i mean there had to have been scenes that were like 45 minutes of pure fighting with no dialogue. the story was alright but it was kind of boring in my opinion

Forrest Gump (1994,  PG-13)
Forrest Gump 5.0 Stars
This was an excellent film, took me a while to finally sit down and watch it but once i did, i had not regretted it. Tom Hanks created a masterpiece of a character, i felt so sad for him but yet he made you laugh in a good way because of his innocence and naivety. There are so many great moment in this film, like with his shrimp company, the table tennis playing, and when he finds his old girldfriend playing naked in a bar and goes to take her out of there, and when he run's across the u.s just because he felt like it. Forest is such a loveable character and very much memorable.

this is classic Vaughn and Wilson, they worked so well together it's basically impossible not to like this, all the characters are all so comical and there isn't a lame bit in it at all, i love the character of Todd, and the midnight rape! All the members of the family did a really great job aswell, each one of them.

there aren't many teen films of our time that are just the same story over and over again and that is exactly why i loved this film, for it's originality and it's great comical sense. A story that portrays just how mean girls can get in high school, they keep the story real but add great humour in it that makes it just great
