Roadracers (Rebel Highway) (1994, R)
robert rodriguez cheap and quick follow up to his cheap debut el mariachi, and made for tv, very much influenced by straight to video films of the 80s and teen rebellion flicks of the past, all his tradematks are here, and of course his score, and a eatly performfance from rodriguez regular salma hayak, quite cheap, and nasty but with rodriguez at helm its worth it, and shows potential fof films like from dusk till dawn and planet terror |

Threads (1984, Unrated)
a nuclear bomb goes off in a northern english town, here, its sheffield, very grimm and brilliantly made, not afraid to tell and show like how it would be, and filmed in 1984, when the cold war was raging, so very relevent at the time, we did this for g.c.s.e english in school, cheered us up no end, but it opened a lot of school kids eyes, especially here in u.k, as we wernt watching hollywod do it, ive not seen this in years, so its memorys of it in school, , i really do wanna see this again |

Hysteria - The Def Leppard Story (, R)
t.v movie charting rise of mega sucessful british metal band def leppard, from there roots in shefield in north of england to there massive hysteria tour in 88 but beware, for fans only, quite cheaply done, so oviously filmed in america or canada, which is fair enough for american scenes, but when you got a oviously american city as sheffield, with american buses in background, or american roads when travelling from sheffield to manchester, its gonna be a annoying destraction, but apart from that, its interesting, all bases covered, where they got name, rehearsels, becoming big, all predictable stuff and seen many times in other pics of rock groups, but it does go into drummer coming to terms with loss of arm, after car crash and decciding to carry on, that was interesting too watch, all guys are great, and great atempts at shefield acent, considering where it was filmed they were probely american, so a great nostalgic look at a time hopefully wont come back, for a group that i remember listening to on good old tape, so overall a t.v movie not above t.v status, and for all leppard fans, you gotta watch this |

L.A. Takedown (Crimewave) (1989, Unrated)
also written and directed by michael mann, the t.v movie that eventually was remade into the 1995 film heat,, but stands up well, very cheap, especially looking very 80s, but a engageing story, its only down fall being , heat came along 6 years later, with deniro and pacino,a big hollywoood production, which does make this look cheap and dated, |
