Once (2007,  R)
Once
Now here is a perfect example of why I love Ireland. This introduced me to Glen Hansard and i've been listening to his fantastic music since. None of the scenes are contrived or unbelievable and there is a real emotion that erupts from Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova.

I'm not going to say more than yes, this is a masterpiece. Watch it.

Ghost Town (2008,  PG-13)
3
Doomsday (2008,  R)
4
Drillbit Taylor (2008,  PG-13)
5
Fido (2007,  R)
Fido
An offbeat zombie comedy; zomcom?

One of the most original films i've seen lately. Carrie-Anne Moss' role was really different from everything else she has done and I think she pulls it off. The concept of Fido is somewhat...strange, although is executed well. Fido should NOT be described as a parody film, although you could argue that it is "mocking" the more serious of zombie film industry.

I'm actually very suprised that this film isn't more widely known, it's fantastic. I certainly recommend Fido to anyone looking for something a little bit different and slightly odd.

Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging (2008,  PG-13)
7
How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (2008,  R)
8
In Bruges (2008,  R)
9
Labyrinth (1986,  PG)
Labyrinth
Labyrinth is the best film I ever watched as a child. It incorporates everything you could possibly ask for. Comedy, fantasy, puppets and David Bowie in oh so tight trousers. For a very long time as a child I was in love with David Bowie, at the time I didn't even know who he was.

It was quite a long time since I had seen this and was reminded of it when an advert for David Bowie's album was on television. Snce then I have watched it over 10 times. The soundtrack is excellent, especially the ones composed by Bowie. I think the only problem with this is people who saw it when they were younger loved it and still do, people who watch this now for the first time tend not to like it. Perhaps they're too wrapped up in comparing it to present children's films?

Lost Boys 2: The Tribe (2008,  Unrated)
11
Max Payne (2008,  PG-13)
12
Mirrors (2008,  R)

The Crow (1994,  R)
The Crow
"It can't rain all the time."

I love The Crow. Brandon Lee is simply brilliant. Not only that, the emotion and beauty of this film is breath taking. Brandon Lee's death makes this all the more macabre, shocking and thought provoking, and carries throughout the film the uncanny feeling that truth is indeed stranger than fiction. The direction by Alex Proyas really triumphed over many other cult films with sheer captivating scenes and helped to develop the widely famous comic characters as people we can associate to. I believe everyone should see this at least once.

Biohazard: Degeneration (Resident Evil: Degeneration) (2008,  Unrated)
Biohazard: Degeneration (Resident Evil: Degeneration)
The first time I watched it I was really blown away. I expected it to be much more genric, but it had flare. With enough thrills to keep die hard Resident Evil fans happy and enough action to keep me happy. It might have its clichés, but it certainly is pretty impressive. Crispin Freeman was good in this and should be featured much, much more. Overall an excellent watch.

The Dark Knight (2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight
I shan't deny I thought this was an awesome watch, but, and here is the but; it wasn't as good as the majority of people expressed. The Dark Knight is the only Batman film that I have enjoyed, but I suppose that is mainly down to the fact this was much darker and less contrived. I'd love to be able to write an amazingly long review on The Dark Knight, including everything from the smallest detail to the late great Heath Ledger, but I can't bring myself to do so. I thought I should also mention Maggie Gyllenhaal as i've noticed she has really grown as an actress. Christopher Nolan can do no wrong in my opinion, such films as Memento, The Prestige and Insomnia are a testimony to this. Christopher Nolan = visionary and genius. Can't wait to see what he has got to offer in the future.

Battle Royale (Batoru Rowaiaru) (2001,  Unrated)
Battle Royale (Batoru Rowaiaru)
A-m-a-z-i-n-g.

I adore Battle Royale. Each scene is very well structured and evokes a wide spectrum of emotion. It is scripted well with moments that make you wonder if something so horrific could actually be considered. Each and every actor plays their characters with the uttermost believeability factor. Especially, Masanobu Ando. Now there is an excellent example of why Japan does film so much better than most, possibly everyone. I got so wrapped up in the on screen action that I felt myself expressing emotions out loud. At some points the actual cinematography was enough to bring a tear to my eye. Kinji Fukasaku is a legend.

I really can't say enough about this.

Death Note (Desu nôto) (2006,  Unrated)
Death Note (Desu nôto)
Well, where do I start.

Everything about Death Note appeals to me. Ken'ichi Matsuyama and Tatsuya Fujiwara are amazing. I couldn't decide whethe I was on the side of Light or L. Each scene is well crafted and although the film is quite lengthy it doesn't feel long enough. Ryuk is brilliant and i'm glad they chose to use CGI instead of dressing up some ponce. I fell in love with L and his oddity. Something about him reeled me in as soon as he was introduced. I actually think Death Note is now my favourite film. To sum up how amazing this is I would have to sit here and right a review that would rival the length of Tolkien's Lord of the Rings. However, i'm not going to as it would spoil the mystery. I'll simply end by saying; watch this.

Desu nôto 2 (Death Note: The Last Name) (2008,  Unrated)
Desu nôto 2 (Death Note: The Last Name)
On a par with the first Death Note film.

This helps you really get to grips with the characters of Light, L and later Ryuk. I thought Rem was also excellent. Can't wait until I get all the volumes of the manga. Every scene is incredibly well crafted and I can't praise the acting enough. Erika Toda was brilliant and this is the first film i've seen her in. Again, I was still in love with L and when he died at the end I cried. Ken'ichi Matsuyama plays him fantastically. I think i'm running out of superlatives. Death Note: The Last Name is a film that I can see myself watching again and again and again. The people who have given a negative review are obviously completely crazy :)

Transporter 3 (2008,  PG-13)
Transporter 3
Strange how much I adore Jason Statham.
I just hope this isn't predictable.
