To me, this film was really good on a lot of levels.
First of all, it was totally engrossing from start to finish. The characters seem so real, and I was totally invested in them. The performances really pulled me in.
Then, at the end, I realized that not only was the film based on something that really happened (the forced removal of mixed Aboriginal children from their families), but also that the children in the movie were based on real people.
It was so powerful to see the girls as the real women at the end. It was a jolt and a shock to my system, and beautiful at the same time.
Finally seeing this on several people's reccs, and I'm glad I did.
