El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth) (2006,  R)
El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth)
This is a fairy tale not for young children. Instead it is a dark, wonderful and tragic adult fairytale paralleling the imagination of a young girl with a dark reality. Beautifully crafted!!! Somewhat 'Burton-esque' at times.

Gorgeous (Boh lee chun)
Cheesy but sweet :)
9
Strictly Ballroom (1992,  PG)
Strictly Ballroom
Early Baz Luhrman- pigmatic 80s style. Also rather romantic :) Quite entertaining :)
10
Love Actually (2003,  R)
Love Actually
A great idea. A GREAT CAST! Love is so complex, there are all different kinds and this movie gives an interesting representation of many of them. I laughed, I cringed, I swooned, I cried. :)

Devdas (2002,  Unrated)
Devdas
WOW! The most richly ornate, colourful and glittering movie I have EVER SEEN! AMAZING! The dancing, music, singing and filming are superb. The costume and sets are BEAUTIFUL!! It is a long romantic overdrama with much eye candy. I'm convinced Aishwarya is the most beautiful woman in the world! The overdrama tempts me to make this 41/2 stars but, it also adds to its charm! So passionate! I am amazed at the care for each and every shot taken and the aesthetic richness is like my dreams, so this goes fully 5 stars!
12
A Wedding for Bella (2003,  Unrated)
A Wedding for Bella
An excellent romance in the midst of sadness. You can tell the filming is not top notch, but it is still very well made with good acting and an excellent story and characters.
13
Muriel's Wedding (1995,  R)
Muriel's Wedding
This is great! :)
14
Confetti (2006,  R)
Confetti
This is pretty darn funny! Filmed much like the Michael Guest films with their rediculous, yet watered down style, humour and as if it is a reality show, yet this one is British.
Martin Freeman is adorable, but everyone does a great job in this mockumentary about a competition for planning the best most unique wedding and all the stressed that come along with it.
15
Partition (2007,  R)
Partition
A beautiful tale of love in the midst of adversity. Very Attractive leading roles, a bleedingly touching story of what extents good people go to for true love for family and the begrudging prides of warring nations that tear people apart.
16
La Science des Rêves (The Science of Sleep) (2006,  R)
La Science des Rêves (The Science of Sleep)
A french film but in english and by the same fellow who made Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless mind. This is a VERY imaginative and sweet love story about a man who has trouble living in the real world and is constantly mixing up his reality with his dreams. At the same time a sweet attractive woman moves in next door who finds his imagination akin to her own and they weave together a stop filmography dreamworld. Fun and entertaining but, very jumbled and at times hard to watch or follow.

Bollywood Hollywood (2003,  PG-13)
Bollywood Hollywood
A really excellent romantic comedy! :) I really enjoyed this!
bollywood and hollywood style film mix for this comedy of indian stereotypes filmed in my home town of London & Toronto Ontario, Canada.

Lagaan - Once Upon a Time in India (2001,  PG)
Lagaan - Once Upon a Time in India
The most dramatic Cricket game EVER!!!! A lot like baseball, this village in India must win an intense game of cricket in order to no long pay taxes (lagaan) by the overbearing British governments who have antagonistically laid claim to the provinces' crops. Since there is no rain yet this season, it is either win the game or lose their lives!
Although cheesy at times, there is undoubtedly some wonderful acting, singing, and characters in this 3h 40min romance/drama and it is quite entertaining.
The ending is rather suspenseful and I had shivers! :)

Kirikou and the Sorceress (2005,  Unrated)
Kirikou and the Sorceress
Very cute tale! :) I enjoyed it very much!
An excellent kids film! I watched this with the movie: "Princes and Princesses" which was also good and by the same creators

Princes and Princesses (Princes et princesses) (2000,  Unrated)
Princes and Princesses (Princes et princesses)
Very Entertaining. A couple kids get together with a man who has a magic computer that helps them to research ideas for their stories and then make those stories come to life with them as the main characters. Some good original little tales!! Charming!! All french with subtitles but still excellent for kids who don't know french but have a little imagination.

M (1931,  Unrated)
M
You need a lot of patience to watch this film even though it is only 95min. The version of this I saw was the worst quality of film I have ever seen: It looked as if someone filmed a projection of the original film with another old and bad quality film. There are some long 'meeting' scenes with a lot of dialogue that was not included with the subtitles. The subtitles were pretty horrible and I am sure the film would be much better to someone who knows German. Regardless of these hurdles and considering the time it was filmed, this piece is fantastic!! The kidnapping scenes are hauntingly well filmed, and it's excellently acted by Peter Lorre. Analyzes the citizens' responses to dealing with a child murderer.
22
Hideous Kinky (1998,  R)
Hideous Kinky
Love Kate Winslet, and those little girls just warmed my heart.
23
The General (1998,  R)
The General
A great film about an actual Irish thief who seemed to be a robin hood but who actually just got a thrill out of stealing and it cost him as well as many others. Some pretty funny scenes, rather entertaining. The filming was rough though.
24
Asoka (2001,  R)
Asoka
An epic story filled with passion, flickering with tragedy and undying love.
Some EXCELLENT and spicey song and dance sequences!!
25
The Children of Heaven (Bacheha-Ye aseman) (1999,  PG)
The Children of Heaven (Bacheha-Ye aseman)
An excellent little film about two adorable children who live in poor conditions and the demands on their time, energy, material possessions and ability to function normally as a child.
26
Da hong deng long gao gao gua (Raise the Red Lantern) (1991,  PG)
Da hong deng long gao gao gua (Raise the Red Lantern)
An exceptional movie that gives a look into the orient of the past. (hopefully its not like that now!) An amazing look at the small worlds of several women who live only to serve their one husband as is custom in his household. The movie is based on a book, so it starts out a little slow but you get quickly wrapped up in the plot and follow the main character as she discovers her newly caged life and the viscous people she must live with. You see how masks are worn by various characters to make the best of their life. Painfully you see how the main character tries them on herself but slowly her psyche begins to fragment... you swagger between liking and disliking her, but feeling her emotions along the way: pain, loss, frustration, anger, jealousy and slowly the loss of meaning in her life. There are glimpses of hope along the way, but each one seems stamped out. A real tradgedy.
27
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Wo hu cang long) (2000,  PG-13)
28
House of Flying Daggers (Shi mian mai fu) (2004,  PG-13)
29
Man cheng jin dai huang jin jia (Curse of the Golden Flower) (2006,  R)
Man cheng jin dai huang jin jia (Curse of the Golden Flower)
One of the most colourful and lavish movies ever! Sets and Costumes are Intricately and elaborately decorated!! This movie should have won the best costume academy award!!! A dramatic war movie set in an amazing palace and recreated carefully to be like history. Amazingly acted and moving!
30
Fire (1996,  Unrated)
Fire
This movie was exceptionally good! Banned in India for its subject matter; giving examples of lesbianism and puritanism. Moving and intense, I like this one the best out of the trilogy (Earth, Water, Fire)
31
God Grew Tired of Us: The Story of Lost Boys of Sudan (2007,  PG)
God Grew Tired of Us: The Story of Lost Boys of Sudan
An excellent documentary! :)
It is amazing how hard working, virtuous, soulful and true to their families these lost boys are! There is something precious there with these boys which our western world has lost, even though we may be able to provide for things these boys dont have.
32
Black Sheep (2006,  Unrated)
Black Sheep
Haha!!! I've been dying to see this since I heard about it and it did not dissappoint! It made me laugh a lot! :D A GREAT zombie movie filmed on the rolling green hillsides of New Zealand!
33
La Vie en Rose (La Mome) (2007,  PG-13)
La Vie en Rose (La Mome)
Marion Cotillard is nominated for lead actress at the Oscars and after watching this, she certainly deserves it! This movie was very lovingly created. The only thing was it became somewhat tedious in that it seemed like it was going to end soon a number of times and was a long film, but still a very good one.
34
City of Joy (1992,  PG-13)
City of Joy
Very moving! Surprisingly good and different for Swayze.
35
Once (2007,  R)
Once
About a troubador meeting a girl and working on music from the ground roots. Filmed naturalistically, handheld, like a home movie. The film is basically all music with some simple, but aesthetic, filmwork. It is slowmoving, driven by the music, you are carried by the 2 voices singing, the simple quitar and piano (with a few other instruments later) and the slow development of the characters and their relationship together. Simple, sweet, kind, almost soaring. I would buy the soundtrack, particularly for the one song with the electronic keyboard hehe :)
36
Efter brylluppet (After the Wedding) (2006,  R)
37
Bride and Prejudice (2005,  PG-13)
Bride and Prejudice
Supposedly this movie is superstereotypical, but I loved it :) I thought it was funny, colourful, gorgeous, sexy, wonderful! A fresh take on a classic tale ;)
38
Joyeux Noël (Merry Christmas) (2006,  PG-13)
Joyeux Noël (Merry Christmas)
A ceasefire is called on a particular front during WWI. Beautiful music. A touching concept for a movie. Let's not do war ever anymore! If we only had Christmas in our hearts always... I expected a little better but still good!
39
Zhou Yu's Train (2004,  PG-13)
Zhou Yu's Train
A romance or not? I liked the part of the storyline that showed her always on the train, like a pub regular... The story also outlined the uncontrollable nature that love can have. Sometimes you just love someone and can't stop loving them, sometimes you can't love someone who loves you.
40
E morì con un felafel in mano (He Died With A Felafel In His Hand) (2001,  R)
E morì con un felafel in mano (He Died With A Felafel In His Hand)
This was a strange one... I constantly found myself wondering what the characters were actually thinking. Some interesting dialogue and some good filming. Completely quirky and strange.

Five Deadly Venoms (1978,  R)
Five Deadly Venoms

Veer Zaara (Veer-Zaara) (2004,  Unrated)
Veer Zaara (Veer-Zaara)
A WONDERFUL film! :) SOOOO romantic! :) Sigh...
43
Don (2006,  Unrated)
Don
Loved this film! The very end was a bit contrived and I would rather have omitted it, but it was all very entertaining throughout!
44
Hot Fuzz (2007,  R)
Hot Fuzz
A very entertaining, well driven, well edited, well scripted and acted dark comedy. An action, police comedy. I LOVED this movie!
45
Death at a Funeral (2007,  R)
Death at a Funeral
Got to see this!Rather rediculous and funny, though painful to watch at times. Alan Tudyk and Stephen were fantastic! :)
46
Angst Essen Seele auf (Ali: Fear Eats the Soul) (1974,  Unrated)
47
Chungking Express (1996,  PG-13)
Chungking Express
Rather entertaining! Very EMO, involving two men ruminating about the women who have left them. A little confusing and weird, but also cute and appealing. I think there should have been a third storyline instead of stretching the second out doubletime. It would have made more sense and flowed better.
48
Saawariya (2007,  PG)
Saawariya
This has become one of my favourite movies! It is an unrequited love story based on Dovsteovsky's "White Night". Very attractive leads with so much talent! Beautiful singing and music set amidst a spectacular set! Every scene is ripe with atmosphere and stunning parisian style, emo, and glowing night scenes. Very romantic and tragic love story, definately worth seeing!!
