Jules and Jim (1962,  Unrated)
Jules and Jim
Fantastic. My favourite of Truffaut's films and Jeanne Moreau's finest role.

Les Fiancés du pont Mac Donald ou (Méfiez-vous des lunettes noires) (1961,  Unrated)
Les Fiancés du pont Mac Donald ou (Méfiez-vous des lunettes noires)
A delightful short from Agnes Varda featuring Jean-Luc Godard and Anna Karina.

Les Quatre Cents Coups (The 400 Blows) (1959,  Unrated)
Les Quatre Cents Coups (The 400 Blows)
The final scene alone is a work of art.

Nadja à Paris (Nadja in Paris) (1964,  Unrated)
Nadja à Paris (Nadja in Paris)
Makes me wish I lived in early 60's Paris.
5
L' Année Dernière à Marienbad (Last Year at Marienbad) (1961,  Unrated)
L' Année Dernière à Marienbad (Last Year at Marienbad)
Simply a masterpiece.

A simple plot of a man trying to convince a woman that they had an affair the previous year, yet still a complex puzzle which will take more than one viewing to fully undertand.
The black and white cinematography is beautiful. The tracking shots through the corridors of the baroque hotel are also sublime.
A truly unique experience.

Baisers Volés (Stolen Kisses) (1968,  R)
Baisers Volés (Stolen Kisses)
The third in Traffaut's semi-autobiographical series following the life of Antoine Dionel. The first time the character hit the screens was in the 1959 masterpiece The 400 Blows. Stolen Kisses sees Antoine now as a young man and follows him in his journey into adulthood. This does not compare to The...(read more) 400 Blows, but is still an entertaining and thoughtful piece of cinema. There are some lovely scenes in this film such as the breakfast scene with Antione and Christine, and also some rather comedic scenes.
Overall, not as though provoking as The 400 Blows but highly watchable and entertaining.

Tirez sur le pianiste (Shoot the Piano Player) (1960,  Unrated)
Tirez sur le pianiste (Shoot the Piano Player)
Another one of Traffaut's greats, although sometimes overlooked. A clever and funny film.

La Boulangère de Monceau (The Baker of Monceau)(The Girl at the Monceau Bakery) (1963,  Unrated)
La Boulangère de Monceau (The Baker of Monceau)(The Girl at the Monceau Bakery)
The first of the six moral tales by Eric Rohmer, about a young man who becomes inviolved with two women and eventually must choose between them. A Nouvelle Vague, with a short, simple story, but well worth twenty minutes of your time.
9
Suzanne's Career (1963) (1963,  Unrated)
Suzanne's Career (1963)
The second of the moral tales. I found the first one, The Bakery Girl Of Monceau, slightly better than this one. Still this is a very enjoyable short film.
10
Les Mistons (1958,  Unrated)
Les Mistons
A charming short. Worth watching if you get the chance.
11
Présentation ou Charlotte et Son Steak (Presentation, or Charlotte and Her Steak) (1960,  Unrated)

nice start to one of the best periods in film history. I would suggest seeing some of Goddard's most well aclaimed works some time soon (Bande a art is my favourite).

Some other Godard you should see: Breathless, Alphaville, Contempt, Pierrot le Fou. See where those take you. Also, Jean Pierre Melville made some great films during the New Wave.
