this movie had the overall feeling of an independent or foreign film since it was based on and shot in the same style as the original 7 minute independent short by director blomkamp. however, it was still quite hollywood and for once that isn't a BAD thing. what else would you expect from a peter jackson production? beautiful, entertaining, heart-wrenching, epic, original... thoroughly impressed and can't wait to see it again.

quite simply 1984 meets monty python. beautiful, surreal, witty, and great social commentary. plus the music just makes me want to wiggle! don't go with the uncut version though, the og is the way gilliam intended it to be and it is much, much better than the re-release

Natural City
this movie was described to me as korea's version of blade runner. it's very reminiscent, but absolutely nowhere near as good. it is more of a love story but a kind of weak one simply bc the plot is seriously lacking: predictable and full of holes. which is too bad cuz i really, really wanted to love it but instead i ended up only liking it. it's cool as shit to look at though - gorgeously filmed/made (even when it feels like youre watching a video game) and one of the best film interpretations of cyberpunk ive seen.

Casshern (2004,  Unrated)
Casshern
every one of these stars is due solely to how gorgeous this movie is to look at. the style and visuals are amazing but the plot is most definitely lacking: convoluted at best, a half-assed mess at worst and way too long to get away with being either.
28
Planet of the Apes (2001,  PG-13)
29
I Am Legend (2007,  PG-13)
I Am Legend
surprisingly good... up until the cop-out ending which totally spit in the face of the entire point the book was trying to make.
