1
El Orfanato (The Orphanage) (2007,  R)
El Orfanato (The Orphanage)
The Orphanage is a Thriller which gives some wonderfully tense moments and really made me jump on a couple of occasions.

Not your average ghost story, this is a beautifully created horror, whilst managing to steer away from predictable route, so many take and instead providing a genuine realistic account of an unknown world.
2
The Messengers (2007,  PG-13)
The Messengers
Not a bad film as far as teen type horrors go, it certainly keeps the attention throughout with a couple of jumpy moments and some interesting moments graphically with the ghosts.
3
An American Haunting (2006,  PG-13)
An American Haunting
A well acted film of this genre, perhaps because of it?s claim that it is based on true events.

I particularly liked the ending which I felt turned the whole film around from just being watchable to pretty entertaining and of course realising it?s authenticity.
4
The Skeleton Key (2005,  PG-13)
The Skeleton Key
A pretty unique touch on the subject of voodoo, a pretty good story with an unpredictable ending
5
Half Light (2005,  R)
Half Light
There are many elements to this film that make it a cheesy predictable Horror movie and at the same time it has some likable qualities. Ironically I liked Demi Moore in this more humble role better than many of her Hollywood roles.

Entertaining, predictable, but a good watch (in a bad film kind of way)
6
Cello (Chello hongmijoo ilga salinsagan) (2005,  Unrated)
Cello (Chello hongmijoo ilga salinsagan)
Hugely disappointing, very slow moving which was felt throughout, it may have some originality to it, but it was very dull.
7
Dark Remains (2005,  R)
Dark Remains
Everything about this film, the name, the dvd cover and the synopsis makes out that it is a better film than it actually is. As a Horror, it really had no frightening or disturbing parts as such, more of a thriller really, which had a pretty weak storyline ? watchable for a tv film, but totally missable.
8
Ghost of Mae Nak (2005,  Unrated)
Ghost of Mae Nak
A very average ghost story with the second half a little more sinister than the first. Quite a typical, predictable Horror in most senses, with the odd good moment thrown in. Not all bad, but certainly nothing special. A couple of slightly eerie moments towards the end, but not a particularly scary film.
9
Ryeong (The Ghost) (Dead Friend) (2004,  Unrated)
Ryeong (The Ghost) (Dead Friend)
Whilst a lot of this film was slow moving, the ending qas quite speedy with a lot to take in. The story itself escalated into a fairly good plot and I have to say I don?t remember the last time I jumped so much at a Horror film, of course this was helped by watching the film in the quiet with ear phones on.

Worth watching just for the jumpy scenes and the unpredictable twist.
10
Saint Ange (House of Voices) (2004,  R)
Saint Ange (House of Voices)
A strange Horror with a weak storyline. Virginte Ledoyen (The Beach) seems a natural Actress and the film to me seemed a bit of a down graded movie for her to take on. Nothing much happens in the first 50 mins of the film and everything after (or at least, what I could concentrate on) showed nothing much of an explanation.

It lacked suspense and purpose
11
Gothika (2003,  R)
Gothika
A film that isn?t highly rated by most, but remains to be one of my favourites and most re-watched films that I own.

Gothika has the dark creepy atmosphere, which is maintained throughout the film and a storyline which urges you to feel the frustration of the main characters, played by Halle Berry and Penelope Cruz.

Admittedly it has it?s clichéd moments and it?s not without predictability, but it?s certainly worth watching (in my opinion) if you enjoy supernatural Thrillers.

'Behind Blue Eyes' became one of my favourite songs after watching this film.
12
Janghwa, Hongryeon (A Tale of Two Sisters) (2003,  R)
Janghwa, Hongryeon (A Tale of Two Sisters)
Very slow moving at first, then everything seems to happen really fast. Having watched this just the once, I?m still placing pieces together, so am not sure if I totally got it.

I know this is a well liked film and my rating reflects my lack of understanding of the film at this stage and is definitely worthy of another watch.
13
Dragonfly (2002,  PG-13)
Dragonfly
Surprisingly a very good story, with sad parts. I'm quite shocked that this got a 12 certificate as I think there are a couple of bits in there for children that may seem a little eerie. A good original story.
14
Ghost Ship (2002,  R)
Ghost Ship
Opens with a really good scene, but I'm afraid that's as far as this film goes.

Just plain boring, certainly won't be watching it again!
15
The Devil's Backbone (Espinazo del diablo, El) (2001,  R)
The Devil's Backbone (Espinazo del diablo, El)
Slightly disappointed that it wasn't as scary as I'd hoped it would be, but impressive all the same. The boys were all great actors and the storyline is original.

Another enjoyable film from this Director
16
Thirteen Ghosts (13 Ghosts) (2001,  R)
17
The Others (2001,  PG-13)
The Others
Was a little bored with this film until it reveals all at the end, then you get why it all happens
18
What Lies Beneath (2000,  PG-13)
What Lies Beneath
The thing that makes this film work so well, is the cleverly placed, typical Horror type scenarios, that never seem to materialise, yet keep you waiting for them to happen, check through the film, they are all there. Hence this becomes an edge of your seat Thriller, with heightened intensity that keeps your mind challenged.
19
The Gift (2000,  R)
The Gift
This film has always been a favourite of mine, it?s a great supernatural thriller. Cate Blanchett (as always) gives a very strong performance, a likeable performance too from Giovani Ribisi.

My very small annoyance was Katie Holmes (I?m not quite sure why I despise the girl so much?) but it?s slightly irrating to put her in the same league as the rest of the cast in this film, however her appearance really doesn?t affect the film or the plot.

This is an intriguing story, which offers something different to the ?whodunnit? type of mystery.
20
The Sixth Sense (1999,  PG-13)
The Sixth Sense
One of the greatest twists ever! Just remembering back to when I watched this for the very first time ? the ending was brilliant and everything suddenly makes sense. Even as a re-watch, knowing what?s to come, the film was created in such a way that almost every angle was covered. If you look hard enough and analyse everything you will come up with some flaws, but it?s such an enjoyable and clever film, the flaws are just not important.
21
Stir of Echoes (1999,  R)
Stir of Echoes
it's this type of film that has made Kevin Bacon a more interesting actor in the last few years. This is a reallygood film from start to finish, the supernatural dealt with in a natural way. Clever storyline.

VERDICT: A definite recommendations, certainly my favourtie Kevin Bacon film
22
The Frighteners (1996,  R)
The Frighteners
I was quite surprised that this film is more recent than I had suspected as it has an older look to it and I tend to associate Michael J Fox with the 80's.

It's a likeable ghost horror comedy, on a similar sort of lines to Beetlejuice.

Easy watching, non thinker, predictable yet enjoyable.
23
Ghost (1990,  R)
Ghost
It's quite unbelievable to think that this film is 18 years old. It made such an impact during it's arrival in 1990 that there can't be many people left who haven't seen this classic.

These are the type of films you can watch over and over and know most of the lines (Willie Lopez - 303 Prospect Place....) yes I think I've seen it too many times, but still manage to spot something different each time.

Patrick Swayze, already having made stardom through his role in Dirty Dancing was familier to us, but it was Whoopi Goldberg, with her comical input that really livened this film up.

Of course this is one of those films where whenever 'Unchained Melody' is played we automatically think of the potter's wheel scene.
24
Field of Dreams (1989,  PG)
Field of Dreams
Not quite as good as I remember this being, but it?s enjoyable, watchable and easy on the concentration.
25
Ghostbusters 2 (1989,  PG)
Ghostbusters 2
Now I?m feeling older, I went to see this film in the cinema on my first ever date! A fun re-watch.
26
Beetle Juice (Beetlejuice) (1988,  PG)
Beetle Juice (Beetlejuice)
The effects admittedly now look rather dated, but the idea behind this film is very creative and certainly has the Tim Burton stamp on it. A well played part from Michael Keaton.

A real easy watching film.
27
Angel Heart (1987,  R)
Angel Heart
Fans of Robert De \Niro may be slightly disappointed as he is only in the film for about 10 minutes, however Mickey Rourke is the star in this film.

I was lost in a few parts of the film, which had become a little boring, but it was certainly a unique style of Private Detective story.

VERDICT: Watchable, but don't rush out and rent
28
Ghost Busters (Ghostbusters) (1984,  PG)
Ghost Busters (Ghostbusters)
This was quite fun to look back over, haven't seen it since I was a kid. Bill Murray was pretty funny in this, however I think it shows how far we've come in film graphics and effects
29
The Entity (1982,  R)
The Entity
A much older film than I'd expected it to be and not scary like people had made it out to be, however the story through the eyes of the main character is a frustrating one trying to prove that the events are really happening and dealing with the situation at the same time. What's even more amazing is that this is apparently based on a true story. Worth the watch.
