Titanic (1997, PG-13)
The Titanic. Unsinkable, it was claimed until an iceberg changed everything. I don t think I will ever get bored of this movie. When it came out in 1997, I saw it for the very 1st time, I was in awe. Still am. The cinematography and the special effects kept me riveted. It gives you the feeling of almost being there on the ship itself. A visual grandeur indeed. The 2 leads were superb, amazing chemistry. To date, my favourite scene is where L.DeCaprio and Kate Winslet flying at the ship's front. The sinking of the great ship is no secret and certain scenes were so hauntingly sad .Every creak and groan of the ship was audible when watching it on a good quality DVD. |

The Holiday (2006, PG-13)
Once in a while, I like to suspend reality for a while and simply enjoy movies like this one. Sweet and entertaining and never boring, about two women who each have recently had problems with the men in their lives. They chatted online and decided to swap homes for the holidays.Once they both reach their destinations they are both pretty bitter about men, but each of them soon meets different men in their lives who means a lot to them and may make their holiday something to remember. |

Bridget Jones's Diary (2001, R)
Truly brilliant, I loved the book and had high hopes for the movie! The plot stayed pretty much to the novel. Renee Zellweger captured the essence of Bridget perfectly and she made this movie worked. Couldn t hear a bit of her American accent. She got delightfully plump for this role and kept it real. Hugh Grant is wickedly good and Colin Firth is absolutely charming. |

Roman Holiday (1953, Unrated)
My very 1st Hepburn movie and I have been a fan of her work ever since. She is very charming and delightful as Princess Ann. A comedy classic thats to be watched over and over. I also like the glorious cineamtography, it was filmed in Rome and after viewing this. I wanted to run out and buy a Vespa scooter |

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008, PG-13)
Finally! Finally I got my hands on this DVD.This movie intrigued me from beginning till the very end. It is a story of a man who is old when he is born and an infant when he dies. The film is well made with great supporting casts and a fascinating script. Cate Blanchett gave a fine performance here too,as the woman who has hold of Benjamin's heart .A captivating and one of a kind piece of a movie with such heartbreaking romance. A box of tissue would be handy here. |

Dogfight (1991, R)
Description: In 1963, the night before the 18 years old "Birdlace" Eddie and his friends are shipped to Vietnam, they play a cruel game called 'Dogfight': all of them seek a woman for a party, and who finds the most ugly one, wins a prize. Eddie finds the lonesome pacifist Rose working in a coffee shop. She's happy to accompany him - but then she sees through the game and is devastated by his cruelty. But war can humble a man, and sometimes love is found in the most unexpected places, or people. My review:A truly wonderful..wonderful film. After Stand by me, I was a River fan and he shone again in this role but the true gem here is Lili Taylor. Her character is so sweet, endearing and vulnerable but beneath all that she had gumption. This is the kind of movie where the more you watch, the more it captivates you thanks to a good script by Bob Comfort. |

The Proposal (2009, PG-13)
This winsome duo made the movie worked on so many levels. Both Bullock and Reynolds shared an amazing onscreen chemistry. He matches Bullock's comic timing note for note. Betty White is still adorable, played the role of Gammie(the hip granny) really well. She stole the show.It is predictable but manages to elicit some genuinely amusing moments. Nearly fell out of my seat laughing during the chanting in the forest and the well choreograped nude scenes. And what is also well worth seeing for is all the great and beautiful shots of a town in coastal Massachusetts that made to look like Alaska. |

Frankie & Johnny (1991, R)
An honest love story with a moving ode to loneliness. Michelle Pfeiffer in my eyes is one of those true beauties of Hollywood, but here she plays and ostensibly plain, cynical and depressed waitress. She has had her fair share of destructive relationships. She has shut herself down emotionally and rather stay home with her VCR and send out for pizza. So naturally she is dubious of Johnny's romantic intentions. Pacino plays this charming" I don t want to date but I want to love and be married" character Johnny. I have seen so many of Pacinos' films involving crime and drugs, so I was surprised by his choice of role here. He does have a real flair for comedy though. This is not a sweep you off your feet kind of love story but rather an optimistic and a realistic one. |
