Salem's Lot is an atmospheric creepfest directed by Tobe Hooper(The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and written by horror master Stephen King. Actually this one is up there with one of the most atmospheric horror films I have ever seen. Some moments in here are also creepy as fucking hell(the little boy floating by the window, the evil guy in the rocking chair, and a group of vampires slowly lurking in the cellar). Salem's Lot comes close to being the ultimate vampire flick and it is definitely without a doubt one of them. The atmosphere alone in this movie is enough to give you the goosebumps, throw in one of the scariest vampire's to ever be put on screen, you got yourself one truly chilling movie.
This movie is almost flawless. The acting is unbelievably good, the script is perfect, and the cinematography is beautifully dark and shadowy. Perfect movie for a dark and stormy night.
Every horror fan needs to see this movie. I hate it when people complain how slow this movie was. Salem's Lot is at a perfect pace. Everything comes together beautifully, and any faster this movie wouldn't have worked as well as it did. The slow built up in Salem's Lot just spends all it's time building on character development, which is perfect, cause now that we've become acquainted with all the characters we become a part of the movie more so then if we knew shit about anyone. It lets us understand Salem much better and it's people as well, almost making us feel like a part of the town, therefore scaring us a whole lot more. Good thing too is that everything here is very believable and it never becomes too cheesy for a single moment. And don't expect any gore, this was a made for TV movie. Besides it didn't need any at all.
I do have one complaint about this movie though. It is a 184 minutes long...It should have been 484 minutes long, lol. I did not want this movie to end! That's how good it was!
Yes indeed. Creepy and truly atmospheric. I highly recommend this movie to any true horror fan out there.
The Funhouse is a great little campy, fun, atmospheric horror flick. This is another popcorn flick with a good old Halloween holiday feel to it.
Plot -
"Against her father's orders, Amy goes to a sleazy traveling carnival with her new boyfriend Buzz, her best friend Liz, and Liz's boyfriend Richie. Unbeknownst to the four teens, Amy's prank-happy little brother Joey (who happens to be obsessed with classic horror movies) sneaks out of the house and follows them to the carnival...which Amy's father was opposed to because a couple of girls were found murdered at its previous location; no one knows who killed the two children or how, although both girls had to be identified via dental records.
At the carnival, the four youngsters smoke marijuana and sneak into a 21-and-over strip joint. They heckle Madame Zena the fortune teller , visit a freaks of nature exhibit, and view a magic show. Finally, the foursome telephone their parents and lie to them, so they can spend the night in the carnival's funhouse - actually a dark ride - after it closes. While Joey waits for them to emerge, the teenagers enjoy a sexual romp in the dark funhouse. Then they notice the Funhouse Barker's assistant - a huge man in a Frankenstein suit who never speaks - making out with a lingerie-clad Madame Zena (who is old enough to be the teens' grandmother). She demands a hundred dollars from "Frankenstein," and then refuses to "go all the way" as agreed. When she won't give back the money, "Frankenstein" attacks and strangles her to death. The four teenagers attempt to leave the funhouse, but it is locked up. It is now up to the group of four young teenagers to survive the night from the Frankenstein masked creature, and his crazed father Conrad Straker who is protecting him."
More then half of this movie just shows the teenagers hanging out at the carnival getting into all sorts of little mischievous adventures, and that's all in the beginning of the film. It's in the middle of the movie when the terror starts picking up little by little, but everything before that was the perfect build up and it still managed to be creepy without even showing anything at all. It was the tone of the film that carried it so well...the weird carnival with a troubled past, the creepy homeless people just wandering around aimlessly, an angry old fortune teller, sad deformed animals, a drunken magician dressed as Dracula, and a whole bunch of freaky deaky carnival ride owners. It's later on when the horror really gets thrown into your face with the psychotic ride owner Conrad Straker and his horribly deformed, mentally challenged blood thirsty son.
The acting isn't all that bad at all and the story, although not too original, was told in a very creepy fashion. Again, this is just a fun little horror flick, nothing's here that will stick with you forever but it is still enjoyable to watch(perhaps one of those movies that's good for a stormy night). This is another one that's not all about the gore, but more just for the creepy atmosphere and bizarre characters. I think this is one of Tobe Hooper's best films and I highly recommend it if you're a fan of campy little horror films with great dark atmosphere. I grew up on this one and I just love this movie!
A good little atmospheric horror flick from horror master John Carpenter. Pretty slow, but always interesting and fun. No gore or anything, but it didn't need any. It's more just about the mood, scaring us with it's creepy overtone and some truly unusual creepy as hell characters(the bums especially). Alice Cooper plays one great ass freaky bum. Great acting, good script and great dark cinematography. Some spooky moments thrown into the mix as well(especially the dream sequences). Don't expect anything outstanding from this movie, it doesn't try to prove to be any better then it is. John Carpenter, as always, stays true to the genre, and most of all true to himself. He makes what he wants to make and he never tries to follow a newer trend, or anything that's become more popular at the time. He knows and completely understands exactly how horror works, and you should already kind of know what to expect when watching one of his films. Prince of Darkness is a horror film done right. It has the atmosphere. It has the story. Has it's characters, and has the horror! All finessed by a man who completely knows how the horror genre works. John Carpenter has created yet another great horror film. And all though it may not scare you as much, for it's not too realistically done, Prince of Darkness is still a fun and very enjoyable watch. Get the popcorn ready, hit the lights, and sit back and just enjoy. I highly recommend this movie!
My favorite werewolf movie of all time! Hands down, a terrific and frightful classic. Joe Dante is truly a maestro of thrills and chills. Drenched in spooky atmosphere, funny, and scary all at the same time. Great werewolf transformation effects as well. Wonderful and original script, superb performances, and beautifully directed - This movie goes down in horror history as one of the best werewolf movies ever made!
Don't expect any gore here, The Howling relies on atmosphere, a chilling score, and creepy ass characters to freak us out. And for those who crave a little nudity in your horror films, not to worry. I have just one question for you...Ever see two werewolves getting down and dirty, doing the nasty?(the hottest most beautiful werewolf at that I may add...RIP "Elisabeth Brooks").
Elisabeth Brooks
The Howling is an amazing horror film. It moves at a slow pace but never gets boring. Every horror fan should really see this movie. It's a real chiller and a spine tingler. Another good horror movie for a dark and rainy night. I highly recommend this movie!
If you haven't seen this yet then you're totally missing out. This is one of John Carpenter's best!
"The story follows private investigator John Trent whose specialty is insurance fraud. He is called in by a publisher to investigate the alleged disappearance of the phenomenally popular horror novelist, Sutter Cane. Having vanished with his most recent novel unfinished, Cane's publisher asks Trent to retrieve the work at stake. Trent thinks the whole thing is a publicity stunt but agrees to take the case.
Trent, accompanied by Cane's editor, Linda Styles, eventually tracks the writer to the remote New England town of Hobbs End, previously thought only to exist in Cane's stories. There it soon becomes clear that the wall between fantasy and reality has blurred."
This film pays tribute to the work of horror novelist H. P. Lovecraft. I just love anything that deals with Lovecrafts's work, he has so much that's going on with his stories, all the key elements(along with many great creepy characters), that make a horror story get the well worth attention it deserves.
This movie is heavy on atmosphere. I'm talking about drenched in, all out, spooky ass atmosphere. Like I have said in another review, one of the most important key elements in a horror film is definitely the atmosphere. There are many creepy characters in this as well...a disfigured and angry police officer, a ghostly old and pasty faced man riding a bicycle, deformed and demonically evil little children, an old creepy woman who sprouts creature-like legs while chopping her husband up with an axe, and lots and lots more! This movie is just completely insane. It's an all out fun film to watch. The ending in this is completely brilliant too. It totally blew my mind.
In the Mouth of Madness is a spooky and darkly atmospheric fun film to watch. If you're a horror fan and you haven't seen this one yet, you must get your hands on it as soon as possible. Even if you're not a horror fan...to anyone who hasn't seen this movie, Watch it Soon! Great film!

Hell Night is a creepy little fun horror movie from the 80's. The atmosphere in this movie is amazing, and to me atmosphere is one of the strongest qualities in a horror film. Yes there's the typical 80's cheese, but it's always fun and it never takes away from the fear that this movie delivers. We get a spooky old mansion in the dark foggy mist, possibly haunted by a ghost, and a killer who's on a murderous rampage killing off a group of teens one by one. It's all great and there are some really true intense nail biting moments in here as well. To me, this is Linda Blair's best movie by far.
"Hell Night focuses on Marti, a young college co-ed played by Linda Blair. Marti is pledging a sorority and must endure "hell night," the night when pledges must perform some idiotic stunt in order to become members. So, Marti along with fellow pledge Denise, must spend the night in Garth Mansion, along with fraternity pledges Jeff and Seth. Why Garth Manor you may ask? Well, it seems that millionaire Mr. Garth and his wife had three deformed children. Mr. Garth couldn't take this, so he slaughtered his family and killed himself, but only three bodies were found. The legend has it that Andrew, the youngest Garth child, still roams the grounds.
So, Marti and the rest of the gang enter Garth Mansion. Soon, frat president Jeff, and two cronies arrive to begin playing pranks on the group to try and frighten them. But, someone else is in the house, someone who isn't there for fun and games. One by one the young partiers are picked off by an unseen assailant. Is this all an elaborate "hell night" trick or has one of the Garth's returned to seek vengeance?"
Hell Night is such an underrated film that had never gotten the attention that it deserved. The beautiful Linda Blair was stunning in this film(and no, I'm not just talking about all that cleavage she showed here), even though that definitely was a plus. The acting wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either, and it never becomes too unbelievable. Actually the performances were just right for the type of movie that this was and the story, although not too original, was told in a very creepy fashion. Another great thing about this movie too was the score, the music here was very eerie and spine tingling and it had added much tension to several scenes in the movie.
This movie is definitely perfect to watch around Halloween time, for it does have that spooky spirited Halloween feel to it. I just loved this movie! Don't expect any gore or anything like that, because even though it's rated R with the occasional spurts of violence and some nudity, this movie strongly relies on the spooky dark atmosphere, along with a good old creepy story. Try to watch this movie in the dark, when you're alone at night, I'm sure you'll be quite pleased. Check this movie out...Hell Night is a must see!
Night of the Demons is an amazingly great fun Halloween film. If you consider yourself to be a true horror fan then this movie definitely needs to be on your list. And if you take this movie seriously then your missing the whole point. It's fun! Plain and simple. This is just a fun horror movie with that good old spooky Halloween feel to it. The atmosphere in this is sick. Oh my God, does this movie have great dark atmosphere! Talk about scary demons too. Angela(the demon) will have you shitting in your pants. As far as cheese goes, thank God this movie was as cheesy as it was. It made it hilarious. Night of the Demons is one fucking funny and hilarious movie...scary as well.
The acting is bad(So what? It's hilarious)
The script is a mess(So what? It's hilarious)
The characters are retarded(So what? It's hilarious)
Nothing in here is believable or slightly convincing...And yes! It is hilarious.
And after saying all this I will say that Night of the Demons certainly has a charm. It makes and turns cheesy horror into a blast of good times. Everything that's wrong with this film works to it's advantage. The cheese factor is exactly what this movie needed. Because it's played out so well it makes Night of the Demons work as a classic bad 80's B horror film. Underneath all the ridiculous cheese and silliness Night of the Demons still manages to be frightful delight with many scares and chills on the surface. A great Halloween time movie. I highly recommend this one to any horror fan!

One of my favorite older horror films. Definitely on the top ten of older classic horror movies. This is one spooky ride. Drenched in creepy atmosphere beyond belief and one of the spookiest horror scores I have ever heard. This movie reminds me of just one long Twilight Zone episode, which is great, because The Twilight Zone is probably the best horror series ever to be created. Carnival of Souls is the perfect movie for a dark and stormy night, and it wouldn't feel better any other way. This movie was only made for night time viewing, period. Even better, a great movie to watch around Halloween time.
Up there with "Horror Hotel", this is one of the most atmospheric horror films ever made. And spooky too. I highly recommend Carnival of Souls(that is of course if you appreciate older horror films). This movie is truly a classic!
Plot -
"Mary Henry is enjoying the day by riding around in a car with two friends. When challenged to a drag, the women accept, but are forced off of a bridge. It appears that all are drowned, until Mary, quite some time later, amazingly emerges from the river. After recovering, Mary accepts a job in a new town as a church organist, only to be dogged by a mysterious phantom figure that seems to reside in an old run-down pavilion. It is here that Mary must confront the personal demons of her spiritual insouciance."

Witchboard is a good creepy little 80's horror film. The movie was directed by Kevin S. Tenney, the same man who brought you "Night of the Demons". I remember being frightened when I saw this as a little kid, and even though not so much any more, this movie still has the tendency to creep you out. If you've seen Night of the Demons then you should already know, just like Witchboard, Kevin S. Tenney tends set the cheese factor at a very high level. Yes Witchbaord is cheesy, but it's done in such a way that makes the movie a very fun film to watch. Like Night of the Demons, Witchboard has many creepy elements that are thrown into mix. Right in between the corny humor and the dramatic acting lies a very chilling story to be told, which involves an even creepy character that goes by the name of Malfeitor. And don't expect any gore, although this is rated R this movie isn't about that.
"Witchboard centers around Linda Brewster and the evil that befalls her whilst trying to communicate with the dead with a Ouija board. Linda falls under the seductive spell of the Ouija one night at a big party, and while her friend warns her to "never play with it alone", Linda does just that. She comes in contact with a spirit named "David" who claims to be the spirit of a seven year old boy, but in reality it is the spirit of an axe murderer named Malfeitor. Malfeitor starts to use his supernatural force to kill off all of Linda's acquaintances in a series of bizarre accidents. However, by the time that anybody realizes what the hell is going on, Malfeitor has already seized control of Linda's soul."
Don't watch this movie and expect any top notch grade "A" film making. This is a semi low budget horror film that doesn't take it self as serious as you might think. The acting sometimes becomes over dramatic, but that's not to say that the acting is really bad. The acting is actually really good, and given the situations that are thrown into the story, the performances become quite believable. The humor in Witchboard, same as Night of the Demons, is subtle and quite cheesy but it's always very funny. Not "laugh out loud" humor, but still very funny. The good thing too was that the humor, or even the moments of dramatic acting, never really took away from the creep factor and as a matter of fact there are some truly chilling moments. Add to that a very creepy score and a very creepy character, Malfeitor, you got yourself an eerie little gem here. Witchboard is highly recommended! Watch this one alone at night.
Don't Go To Sleep (1982) is a very hard movie to get a hold of. There is no DVD release yet for this movie, but there are copies floating around the internet. This was a made for TV movie and let me tell you, this scared the crap out of me back in the day. What a creepy ass movie this was.
The movie is about a family of four, the parents and their two children, who move into a new home and try to start their life over after the death of their oldest daughter Jennifer, which resulted from a freak car explosion. The two other young kids, who happened to survive the car explosion, are Mary and her brother Kevin. The house that the family moved into belongs to Bernice, which is Mary and Kevin's grandmother. Everything seems fine at first but the terror begins when Mary starts hearing her deceased sister Jennifer calling for her from underneath the bed. Of course it turns out that Mary's parents don't believe her and they even blame her younger brother Kevin for scaring Mary. Little did they know that Kevin was indeed an innocent bystander and the voices that Mary was hearing might actually really be coming from her dead sister Jennifer.
Things get even worse from here and the ghost of Jennifer now actually becomes visible to Mary. Jennifer's ghost becomes Mary's new playmate, and there's nothing or nobody that will stand in their way because Mary will make sure of that. After a few days of hanging out with her deceased sister, Jennifer tells Mary of a new plan that she has. She tells Mary that she must kill her family off one by one, or else they can no longer be together. Mary, scared to loose her older sister again, decides that this plan might just be a good idea and from here on is where things start becoming very deadly. Mary's family start slowly dropping like flies, but in the beginning it's not really visible to who is really killing them. And here's where the question lies...is Mary the one actually killing her family off one by one, or is it really the ghost of her dead sister Jennifer?
This movie was very eerie. There is no violence or anything like that, being that it was a made for TV movie, but the things that they suggested I'm surprised that they got away with that much. The acting isn't the greatest, but what do you expect from a made for TV horror movie? It was good enough for what it was and it never gets too unbearably cheesy. The voices that came from underneath Mary's bed were scary as hell, and Jennifer's ghost was truly spine tingling. The story was also very well told, and what's even creepiest out of the whole thing was the ending that left me sleeping with the lights on (of course I was younger at the time), but it still packs a punch.
This movie is very hard to find and as I said it isn't officially released on DVD yet. If you really want to see this movie just look around for a copy on the internet, but good luck finding it. The only reason why I have it is because I bought a copy from a horror convention, and luckily it was very good quality. Anyways, you should really try to see this movie.
One of my favorite old horror films! Also one of the most atmospheric horror films ever made. To me, atmosphere is definitely one of the most important qualities that's needed in a horror film, and this movie has all the atmosphere that a horror movie needs. The movie is spooky in parts as well and the story is chillingly carried out by a great script. This is the perfect movie to watch on a dark rainy night(perhaps even on Halloween), and although it might not frighten you as much, it's still a fun and entertaining as hell little popcorn flick.
"On 03 March 1692, in Whitewood, Massachusetts, the witch Elizabeth Selwyn is sentenced to be burned at the stake, and her partner Jethrow Keane asks Lucifer to save her. About three hundred years later, the college student Nan Barlow decides to spend her vacation in the town to research witchcraft. Her professor Alan Driscoll suggests Nan to lodge in the Ravens Inn, managed by Mrs. Newless. Once in the village, the naive Nan is advised by the local priest, Reverend Russell, to immediately leave the place, where devil has ruled over for three hundred years, but she decides to stay and find that she is in a coven of evil witches. Nan vanishes, and the granddaughter of Reverend Russell, Patricia Russell, pays a visit to Nan's skeptical brother, Richard Barlow, and her boyfriend Bill Maitland, and they decide to follow her steps. Once in New England, they realize that a group of immortal witches have to sacrifice two beautiful women per year, one on Candleman Eve on February 1st, and the other on the Witch Sabbath, to stay alive forever, and only the shadow of a cross would be able to destroy them."
Yes indeed. This is quite possibly my favorite horror film that's based on witchcraft. Highly Recommended!

A lot of people have found this movie boring because it relies mostly on mood and atmosphere alone to scare you. I for one was not bored by this. It sent chills down my spine. Watch this movie alone at night and judge for yourself. The score in this movie is truly haunting, and the audio sessions were ultimately frightening. There is no gore in this movie and hardly a drop of blood but it didd't need any. This movie worked even better without all of that stuff. You don't even see much in this movie. It suggests mostly everything and leaves it up to your mind to create your own fears. Everything in here worked perfectly. Great acting making it even more believable. Spooky ass cinematography with the darkest of shadows in every corner, and a chilling story carried along well by some truly creepy moments of eerie dialogue. This movie does something most horror movies don't do nowadays. It let's you put your mind to work and makes you create your own darkest illusions. Again, watch this movie alone at night...with the lights off!
Plot:
"An asbestos abatement crew wins the bid for an abandoned insane asylum. What should be a straightforward, if rather rushed, job, is complicated by the personal histories of the crew. In particular, Hank is dating Phil's old girlfriend, and Gordon's new baby seems to be unnerving him more than should be expected. Things get more complicated as would-be lawyer Mike plays the tapes from a former patient with multiple personalities, including the mysterious Simon who does not appear until Session 9, and as Hank disappears after finding some old coins."
I highly recommend this movie.

A fun ass horror movie from the 80's. An underrated gem.
Nothing original here, same old slasher hack-em up concept, but still a whole lot of damn fun. A good movie to watch when you're alone at night. And although it probably will not scare you, I'm sure in the end you'll be quite pleased that you spend 90 minutes of your night eating from a bowl of popcorn and watching 5 teenagers get slaughtered by a guy wearing a Groucho Marx mask costume. lol
No gore here either, this movie wasn't about that. The acting was great and there's very good direction, with some spooky cinematography. Cheesy in some parts, but it's the kind of fun 80's horror cheese, and it's not overdone either. Don't take this movie too seriously. There's nothing here that's going to wow you. Just sit back, relax, be open minded and have fun with it. The 80's was a glorious decade for horror films, and believe me, this is one of the good one's from that wonderful time span of blood, guts, and maniacal madmen running amok and hacking up teenagers.
This is the perfect film to even watch around the Halloween season. It has that feel to it. You know that feel? That good old creepy October, things that go bump in the night feel! : )
And although you'll probably guess right at who the killer is, Terror Train will still have you guessing till the very end. It's not so much as to who the killer is, it's more of where the hell is he?...And have you already seen the killer? Because believe me, he'll most likely pass by your very eyes without you even knowing it!...you'll know more what I'm talking about when you see this. Little interesting twist at the very end!
Yes indeed, it's good times with bloodshed, the Groucho Marx killer, and our favorite legendary "scream queen" Jamie Lee Curtis.
I highly recommend this movie. But just have fun with it, that's all it's about.

This is one of my favorite holiday movies. This was another made for TV movie back in the 80's that I caught around Halloween time. I know this movie use to be on DVD and I actually own a copy, but unfortunately as far as I know this movie is out of print. You should still see it if you can find a copy somewhere because this movie was just awesome. I know that they have used copies on Amazon but there asking for over $100 and that's just ridiculous. Maybe they have a cheap copy somewhere on EBay but I don't know for certain.
This movie has a lot of shit in it...vampires, zombies, a werewolf, and even a midget zombie(the cutest zombie I have ever seen). It's about a teenage boy named Phil, who on Halloween time, shows his classmates a slideshow of a legendary witch from their community named Lucinda. After class one of Phil's dumb friends, named Mitch, gets an idea and tells everyone that they should steal artifacts from Lucinda's three hundred year old wardrobe and wear them as costumes. Of course, a group of them feel the need to go along with Mitch's idea, and after school the teens break into an old basement where Lucinda's artifacts remain. While in the basement one of them comes across an old trunk bearing the "Grenville" seal. Nathaniel Grenville was actually the man responsible for hanging Lucinda hundreds of years ago, and saving the town from her curse. The teens now also feel that they should take the trunk along with them on their little mission to the local cemetery.
While at the cemetery the group of teens, now wearing their Halloween costumes, decide to open the trunk and inside they find Nathaniel's ring and a timeworn scroll. Melissa, one of Phil's friends, takes the scroll and begins to read the accursed incantation. Little did she know that she just raised hell from beyond the grave and everyone and everything starts to rise from their tomb. In the mist of all this chaos Phil meets a beautiful young girl named Sandy, who wears a cheerleading outfit and does cheers with her pom-poms. What Phil doesn't know at first is that Sandy is also a zombie herself, but the thing is that she's actually a good zombie.
Back at the teens Halloween party the dead are dancing it up, literally. No one at the party seems to know that the zombies are crashing it, for everyone there is dressed up in a costume. The party's biggest threat though is Lucinda, the witch/vampire that they brought back from the grave, and it's all up to Phil and his new girlfriend Sandy to save the day...or can they?
This movie is just so much fun. What a great Halloween time view this was! Don't expect any violence or anything like that because this was a made for TV movie that was viewable for the younger crowd, all though they did show some stuff that might be too frightening for them. The good thing too was, it wasn't all that cheesy(well at least not in a bad way) and this movie had plenty of spooky atmosphere to go around. If you can you have to get your hands on this movie. Hopefully they'll release it again on DVD just in time for the Halloween season, but you should really try to see this one as soon as possible. Like I said, it's one of my favorite holiday movies!
As some of you may already know, atmosphere is the biggest factor for me in any horror film. Dead Birds is drenched with atmosphere. It drowns in it! This is up there with some of the most atmospheric horror films ever made, and I loved every second of it. The atmosphere alone was enough to send chills down my spine. Dead Birds is indeed one spooky ass ghost story. Eerie, breezing night winds that howl within the dark fields. Rumbling thunder from the rainy moonlit sky. Soft spoken whispers in every corner of a dark and creaky old farm house. Ghastly possessions and demonic-like children hiding under the beds. All of this is done at a calm and slow pace, but that's the beauty of it. That's it's charm. It's almost hypnotic, and in many ways relaxing, but spooky at the same time. Dead Birds is a horror movie to get cozy with, underneath the blanket, on a dark and stormy night. This movie isn't like any other horror film we're use to seeing these days. Dead Birds takes us back when horror films relied more on it's settings, with the dark and cold cinematography, as well as the eerie sounds inside the old dark house. It can almost pass for an old black and white horror film, in terms of it's style and way of storytelling. Dead Birds should be a lesson to all the crappy horror films these days. This is one good movie!
Amazing story, as well as a perfect thought out back story. A simple, but subtle script. Solid performances from the whole cast. And like I mentioned before, beautiful cinematography! Plus, how can I forget...it's bloody and gory too. Dead Birds should have gotten more play than it did. It's a shame something like this goes unrecognized or even ignored by the horror community. We need more horror movies like this. Dead Birds is a real spooky treat! A solid ghost story.
**For people looking for a fast paced horror movie(or something like SAW), look else where.**
A spooky, atmospheric, fun and chilling B horror movie. Dead of Night is the perfect popcorn flick for a Halloween night viewing. Directed by Bob Clark, the man who brought us Black Christmas, Dead of Night tells an eerie tale of a deceased soldier who returns from Vietnam as a zombie. This movie was shot on a very low budget, and it definitely shows. But not to worry, cause the cheap look only works more toward it's advantage. Here we get all the spooky elements that make a horror movie so frighteningly fun...the sounds of howling winds, the cold and dark spooky atmosphere, the creepy and dramatic music in the background, and of course one hell of a scary ass lead character.
Dead of Night is not gory, nor is it violent. There's nothing extreme about it. In fact, this movie is actually rated PG. But if that stops you from seeing it, then you're missing out. Dead of Night didn't need to be extreme. It was perfect just the way it was. This movie is more about mood and atmosphere than anything else. It aims to send shivers down your spine by building tension, and creeps up on you from it's dark and cold cinematography. Dead of Night is a true treat for any horror fan who longs a great ghost story. And like I said before, it's a perfect Halloween time movie! Alone in the dark, with a bowl of popcorn, is the only way Dead of Night should be viewed.
The Innocents is a scary and atmospheric horror film. Perfect movie to watch around Halloween time! This is an excellent film. Beautiful cinematography, amazing strong performances, and a chilling story. Some creepy ass kids in this movie too. Watch this one alone at night, with the lights off. Chilling stuff!

"The Innocents a downright creepy film, the kind that haunts you long after the lights have been turned back on."
- Classic-Horror.com

Excellent Christmas horror movie. The atmosphere here is what really steals the show. But this movie is still eerie with the story alone as well(and that damn lady in the white dress...what a creepy bitch!) lol...and sexy too :)
Dead End is chillingly saturated in dark spooky atmosphere. The long stretched road of death, in which the supernatural await in every corner of the shadowy, cold, and dreary woods that surround around it. As the Harrington family drive to Frank's in-laws house for the Christmas season, Frank takes a shortcut that will lead the family on a detour to hell! Suddenly, the road never ends. They always end up back where they started. And to top it all off, they're being harassed by seemingly evil entities, and a mysterious black Cadillac hearse. Can the Harrington family bind together, keep their sanity, and be able to survive the horrors in the town of Marcott??
Dead End is creepy, funny, and one hell of a little thrill ride! Ghoulishly, and mystifying, dark cinematography. Good enough acting for what it is(better than most DVD premieres of it's kind), and never becomes distracting from telling it's own story(an amazing story by the way). The twists that come at the end totally blow the top off of it's roof. It's well executed and thoroughly thought out and planned(kudos to the great screenwriters!) Watch Dead End and see if you can guess what's coming next!? lol Good stuff!
Dead End plays off like a made for TV horror movie, but a better one than that. It plays off like a TV horror movie on a spin off of some kind of creepy Twilight Zone episode.
That's what Dead End is exactly like! It's like one long Twilight Zone episode...but one that's in color...oh, and one that's rated R!
Just in time for Christmas! AND Dead End is a perfect little Christmas horror movie. A great ghost story to watch on a cold and snowy night, snuggled under the blankets.
And although it has it's flaws, Dead End still is a unique little horror film, and never becomes anything less than just simple, spooky, fun entertainment. It's a precious little gem and I highly recommend this movie!
"Dead End wound up being a quality filled, cleverly humorous, classy and spine-tingling road trip to hell that should be seen by all."

"Well Dead End is a crazy tale, kind of similar to the Blair Witch Project story wise, not production wise mind you. With a great cast and an odd tale Dead End holds up it's own, it's creepy and the believable acting are what make this film."
- The Horror Review
"Dead End was one heck of a freakishly strange and wild ride. At times throughout the movie I thought I had it all figured out - and I did, to a point."

"Dead End is a very unique, interesting, character driven film that puts the viewer on this back road in the middle of no where, stranded in the dark on Christmas Eve night right there along with the Harrington Family."

A non-stop suspenseful tour de force. Once Wait Until Dark starts with the thrills it never lets up. I hope you're not a nail bitter, cause if so, after watching this one you won't have any nails left! It's hair-raising and it's sensational. Audrey Hepburn is truly nothing short of amazing. This is an outstanding, flawless, and chilling classic film.
"Audrey Hepburn is Susy Hendrix, a young blind woman living in a New York brownstone with her photographer husband, Sam. Pushed by Sam and herself to be "the world's champion blind lady," Susy is thrown a challenge when a trio of criminals discovers a child's doll filled with heroin has mysteriously found itself inside her apartment. Through multiple disguises and characters, the three baddies move in for the kill...until Susy, with the aid of young neighbor Gloria, discover their plot and are left on their own to fend for themselves."
"Where is it? Where is it? OH GOD!"
"WAIT UNTIL DARK is one of the most memorable film thrillers you could ever see. The story's complexity, the subtle direction and superlative acting all combine to put nearly every suspense film to come after it to shame. It's truly a film experience, but you'd better put your lights on."

In "The Book of Lists: Horror", the climactic heart-stopping confrontation between Audrey Hepburn and Alan Arkin is #1 on Stephen King's list.
