  TheBeginningAndTheEnd's Rating My Rating
1
Akira (1988,  R)
Akira
Quite possibly the greatest anime ever made. Katsuhiro Otomo has crafted together a story so creative and original. The animation is so good that nearly twenty years later it's better than half the anime seen today. Yeah, the hype is real.
2
Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children (2006,  PG-13)
Final Fantasy VII - Advent Children
I loved everything about this movie. A great continuation of Final Fantasy VII. The action and animation are spectacular. Even if you're unfamiliar with Final Fantasy, see this for it's breathtaking animation.

Advent Children Complete is even better.

Chôjikû yôsai Macross: Ai oboeteimasuka (Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?) (1984,  Unrated)
Chôjikû yôsai Macross: Ai oboeteimasuka (Super Dimension Fortress Macross: Do You Remember Love?)
The best of the Macross series. Awesome action and a great love story. It's a shame this movie doesn't have a proper DVD release.
4
Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust (2001,  R)
Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust
Better than the first and contains amazing animation.
5
Karas: The Prophecy (2006,  Unrated)
Karas: The Prophecy
Astonishing! I got goosebumps during the action sequences. Brilliant, original and imaginative! If you are a fan of anime you must see this, if not...you must see this!
6
Karas: The Revelation (2007,  Unrated)
Karas: The Revelation
Outstanding sequel to Karas The Prophecy. The story is excellent and the action sequences are gorgeous to behold.
7
Guyver (2005,  Unrated)
Guyver
Excellent remake of the classic 12 episode Guyver show. Much closer to actual manga. Great action and animation.
8
Death Note (2007,  Unrated)
Death Note
A incredible smart, dark and disturbing anime. Every episode is intriguing, involving and smart. Death Note is one of the greatest shows ever created.
9
Castle in the Sky (Tenkû no shiro Rapyuta) (1989,  Unrated)
Castle in the Sky (Tenkû no shiro Rapyuta)
Miyazaki's brilliance shines through this movie. Dub or sub, both of them are actually equally good.
10
Princess Mononoke (Mononoke-hime) (1999,  PG-13)
11
Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound (1996,  Unrated)
Dragon Ball Z: Bojack Unbound
The best of the 13 DBZ movies. This movie can actually fit into the storyline of the series. Great action sequences.
12
Vampire Hunter D (Banpaia hantâ D) (1985,  Unrated)
Vampire Hunter D (Banpaia hantâ D)
The animation is badly dated, but the story and characters will live forever.
13
Spriggan (2001,  R)
Spriggan
Love anime? Love action? Then this is for you. If Michael Bay did an anime movie it would end up something like this. It's a combo of Metal Gear Solid type and James Bond type of characters in a much more bizarre situation. Only the main villain is a bit underwhelming.

Spriggan (2002,  Unrated)

15
Ninja Scroll (1995,  Unrated)
Ninja Scroll
Even though the sex is somewhat gratuitous, the action and the overall story work beautifully in a video-game style fashion.
16
Demon City Shinjuku (1993,  PG-13)
Demon City Shinjuku
An anime that plays out story-wise like a video game, and in this case it's cool. Demons, magic, swords, guy gets the girl; what else could you want?
17
Dragon Ball Z: The History of Trunks (2000,  Unrated)
Dragon Ball Z: The History of Trunks
A well done special about Trunks. Great animation and action. The english music is great.
18
Doragon bôru Z 6: Gekitotsu! Hyakuoku powâ no senshitachi (Dragon Ball Z: Return of Cooler) (1992,  Unrated)
Doragon bôru Z 6: Gekitotsu! Hyakuoku powâ no senshitachi (Dragon Ball Z: Return of Cooler)
One of the best of the 13 Dragonball Z movies. It's got a neat story, funny humor and cool action.
19
Doragon bôru Z 3: Chikyû marugoto chô kessen (Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might) (1990,  PG)
Doragon bôru Z 3: Chikyû marugoto chô kessen (Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might)
It's very good but they needed go into Turles' backstory more. Why does he look like Goku? Great action and I'm glad the movie used the entire Z team.
20
The Animatrix (2003,  Unrated)
The Animatrix
In many ways I actually prefer this to the Matrix sequels.
21
Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi) (2001,  PG)
Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no kamikakushi)
Hayao Miyazaki gives us once again a gorgeous fantasy picture.
22
Perfect Blue (1999,  R)
23
Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon (1995,  Unrated)
Dragon Ball Z: Wrath of the Dragon
I think the writer played some Zelda before penning this. Very cool Dragonball movie with a neat story and superb action sequences.
24
Mezzo Forte (2001,  Unrated)
Mezzo Forte
A funny, sexy, action flick that entertains the entire time. If sex turns you off then see the censored version because this movie has the most graphic sex scene I've ever seen in anime.
25
Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie (1996,  Unrated)
Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie
Better than any live-action rendetion of the franchise and certainly better than Street Fighter Alpha.
26
Hauru no ugoku shiro (Howl's Moving Castle) (2005,  PG)
27
Wicked City (Yôjû toshi) (1993,  Unrated)
Wicked City (Yôjû toshi)
A slick and very sexy anime feature, if your a fan of Yoshiaki Kawajiri's works check this out.
28
Devil May Cry (2008,  Unrated)
Devil May Cry
Nowhere near as great as the games, but some of these episodes are excellent.
29
Kite (2002,  Unrated)
Kite
Think The Professional, just with more sex and violence.
30
Kôkaku kidôtai (Ghost in the Shell) (Shell Mobile Force) (1996,  R)
Kôkaku kidôtai (Ghost in the Shell) (Shell Mobile Force)
Matrix fan? Love the philosophical mumbo-jumbo in the sequels? Got a think for cyber-punk? Then check this out.
31
Doragon bôru Z 11: Sûpâ senshi gekiha! Katsu no wa ore da, (Dragon Ball Z: Bio-Broly) (,  Unrated)
32
Doragon bôru Z: Kono yo de ichiban tsuyoi yatsu (Dragon Ball Z: The Movie - The World's Strongest) (1990,  PG-13)
Doragon bôru Z: Kono yo de ichiban tsuyoi yatsu (Dragon Ball Z: The Movie - The World's Strongest)
The fight scenes in this one are friggin cool...to bad the villain in the movie is lame as hell.
33
Megazone 23 (,  Unrated)
Megazone 23
Megazone 23, THE movie that inspired The Matrix is quite impressive for it's time. It's pretty dated now and slow in some areas, but it's a nice set up to the vastly superior Part II. Part I: The set-up, Part II the pay-off.
34
Doragon bôru Z 1: Ora no Gohan wo kaese (Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone) (1989,  Unrated)
Doragon bôru Z 1: Ora no Gohan wo kaese (Dragon Ball Z: Dead Zone)
A good start to the Dragon Ball Z films, but it needed to be longer.
35
Doragon bôru Z: Tatta hitori no saishû kessen - Frêza ni itonda Z senshi Kakarotto no chichi (1990,  Unrated)
