A Beautiful look into the sickening world of pedophillia that will stay with you for ever.
The movie is narrated by the two main characters as we watch their life's unfold.
The story start's with the 2 boys, eight years old, each leading up to an encounter that will change their lives.
We are given brief glimpses of how the abuse affected their childhood, and it is scary.
It will break your heart as Neil grow's up to search out what he believes was love as a child.
As the movie develops, we the audience know the relationship to be wrong but the subject is never brought to justice, and it doesent seem important. The lessons are there you just have to read between the emotional subtext. Unfortunatly for our main character it never clicked. There were probably a dozen before him and there'l be a dozen after him.
The effect the actions have on these 2 young boys is the whole point of this movie and its sad how it distorts their views on life - Neil sells himself everynight without a second thought to any self respect. Brian becomes a nervous young man plagued by nightmares of alien abductions.
In the end one boy finds his answers and everything is brought together through a few crashing realisations, and while everything is not ok, it oddly feels better.
While it is understandably rated R18, all the scenes are tastefully done and I salute Joseph Gordon and Brady Corbet for their amazing acting.
Benchwarmers is a typical tale of bully's but with originality and i really loved it.
The characters are awesomely lovable and genuinely make you laugh.
This is a movie the whole family will love.
while it does have the immature 'aimed at the boys' moments (which i thought was going to be the entire film). Most of it is quite intelligent while still keeping it dumb and funny.
Benchwarmers just goes to show (for those of you who dont already know) they guys who get picked on are more often then not some of the deepest, funniest, nicest people you will ever meet.
I guarantee you this movie will have you up and cheering.
Scientist Alexandrer believes time travel is possible, and strives to construct a machine capable, Fuled by the loss of his love he works day and night to build it.
A great story filled with so much adventure as Alexander travels both to the Future and the Past, Neither of which look very bright.
One of my favourite movies and just done so perfectly, there is nothing i didn't love.
Hows this for an original movie.
This has to be one of my favourite sci fi's.
There are so many factors to consider when ZERO emotion is in effect, but this movie really made me feel what it would be like to live on Prozium. The views put out by different characters also made you think, really think. Because while there would be no crime and you would have a country in perfect order, what would be the point if you couldn't live? couldn't feel?
Such a Beautiful movie. Almost a broken fairy tale.
This movie plunged you straight into the world of imagination and depeding on how long it took you to believe and accept this strange world, is how much your going to enjoy this movie.
On that point i think its a lot easier for kids to believe in magic, as adults we believe in logic and what you can see. so when these imaginings manifest themselves in the environment, its a lot easier to see them.
This movie has a tragic twist in it, which i did not see coming, But im glad with the way it was handled, Even in this imaginary world it would have sent the wrong message if she appeared.
I actually cried in this movie, twice, it just broke my heart. and not like 1 tear on my cheek, i was bawling. I just felt so much for these characters, they were just beautiful and although i dont remember much of this story from my childhood the name always remained and i will remember this movie for a long time.
This movie just blew me away, it was done so perfectly.
While there were quite a few plot changes and not so nice twists I was never lost and it was great to see some fantastic humour and bantering to lighten up the sometimes serious moments.
This movie was fantastic in the fact it did not get sidetracked by a backplot of romantic interest.
Joe Flanigan fitted his role of Brendan the cop perfectly. and his little 'in head conversations' had me smiling.
Fantastic movie that many people have not heard of, which is sad. It is not available here in AUS and most people i know who know this movie are SGA fans.
I really really liked this movie. It had a Fantastic plot, great comedy sidekicks and you fell in love with all the characters. This is Disney at its best.
Although this is an animation i wouldn't really call it a 'kids' movie. There are many great moments in this movie and also many laughs. But in order to have a fantastic story, you also need hurt. The moment the movie grounds you and makes you reaslise there is something bigger here than just the laughs, that this story is worth remembering as it tells a great lesson.
this is one of my all time favourites. its just so magical and heart warming (although quite a lot of wrenching first) and i believe anyone can enjoy this film even if you dont love horses. the courage, grace and will to fight is just amazing. and the soundtrack just blew me away.
an amazing tale of a dysfuntional family and their hilarious adventures as they desperatly treck to california and the 'little miss sunshine' contest so 7yr old Abigale can have her wish.
Despite the VERY teenage feel this movie gives ( the language, the drugs, the sex ) i loved it. it puts an air of perspective over a few things.
I partucularly liked how the director tried to show why these kids turn out this way. its done subtly but if you check out the parents youll notice they are more 'teenagers' then parents.
I also thought it very funny and clever to have witness numbers on all the people that they meet or who saw them, though most of the time it was too small to read or notice, but upon re-watching this movie gave a very humourous touch.
I also liked the unpredictability of this movie. Some of the characters acted on rational thought while others were scrictly impulse drivers.
This movie was frightening in its portrail of Tom Capano, a powerful lawyer accused of murding the young woman he was having an affair with.
It was so easy to see how these woman got sucked into his charm and seduction. I myself would have fallen for him, He chose young vulnerable women and manipulated them into a submissive relationship.
Tom Capano believed he was smarter than everyone around him and manipulated them into believeing whatever story suited his situation.
Annie was one of many woman in his life, she was young and having a tough time and he charmed his way into her life.
Tom became so obsessed with controlling her it seemed inevitable the only was it could end was with her death or his.
Though it was never proved (or shown in this film) Tom had Annies pshyc killed because of the threat he posed to the relationship.
This was a tragic story and my heart goes out to the family and the boyfriend who must all have been very confused and frustrated.
I walked away from this movie still feeling anger and hatred toward Tom Capano, but got some satisfaction (if somewhat sadistic) in seeing the look on his face when he realises its over.
This movie was so powerful it was good to see justice in the end.
I really enjoyed this movie, i must say the first casual interview with that woman and the scene that follows is one of the best introductions into a setting - EVER.
Instantly after hearing that it gives you the urge to huff an ironic laugh, yup - cured cancer alright... too bad they forgot to list 'may cause irritability to sunlight and appetite for human flesh in 99% of patients' as a side effect - whoops.
While the plot line is not original, the story is. and this is NOT a scream fest, this movie genuinely scares you in that while im sure no one on our world could make such a horrific mistake, well... they were sure too...
It was a little sad to see the social break-down of the main character and in a sense of irony in order to maintain his sanity he pretended the manicans around town were actual people.
I give this movie 4/5 because i think it needed something more, i know it was a dark movie but he was the last man left it could have had a little humour in it. Also they didn't end this movie well, it was cut short when they should have put more time into the ending.
saw this movie on a reccomendation and im so glad I did.
a group of College rejects decide to create a school of their own to fool their parents. Things turn serious when thousands of people sign up thinking its a real college.
This movie was a comedy, but it was not about the laughs and thats what makes it a good movie. There were some rather amusing lines but this turns into a heart-warming movie when the guy who started it all, wants to continue for all the other kids who believe they finally got accepted into college.
If there was one thing i thought they could improve on with this movie, it would be that while a lot of the rejects were strange people (add, anger problems etc) they could have showed this side a bit more. I was expecting at least some weird antics from the 'not all there' students.
