Straw Dogs (1971, R)
This was a strange film. The name comes from Taoist writings in the Tao Te Ching. It was disturbing on many levels, yet very triumphant. This was a work of art if for no other reason than it made me cringe and question. It caused reactions in me that I'm still (24 hours later) trying to work out. That is a good movie. |

Frailty (2002, R)
Excellently shot and paced directorial debut of Bill Paxton. At times heavy handed and trying to maintain a "you decided" stance while still mainly pointing you to one set of conclussions, I still loved this film. And while I don't normally like religious based horror, I can't help but enjoy the tension of this family along with this unusual plot. |
