(Ootober 2004)Director Alexander Payne makes a remarkable film here!! Best friends (Paul Giamatti & Thomas Hayden Church) adventure "road trip" film ever!! Romantic...two buddies tour winery side Southern California as a Bachelor's Party...and experience quite the side splitting adventures!! Touching, gentle, romantic, raw!! LOVED IT!! These 2 guys could NOT be more opposities! LOL
Sandra Oh (Grey's Anatomy) co-stars as a love interest of Jack's whom he keeps in the dark as to his upcoming marriage.

Tout au long du film, jusqu'à la toute dernière minute. Sideways réussit à recréer la belle ambiance d'un voyage où deux amis prennent d'assaut la route des vendanges de la Californie. Incroyable et touchante interprétation de Paul Giamatti jouant dans un très bon film mais qui, à mon avis, contrairement à ce que d'autres pourraient penser, ne véhicule pas un message assez puissant pour faire partie de mes films favoris. Une chose est sûre, c'est que la première chose que j'ai fait après avoir écouté Sideways... C'est de m'ouvrir une bonne bouteille de vin rouge. Ahhh, jouissance. [translation: " That's true that it is good really. Except that this risks ceasing being good in some instants. " It is of what I thought... Throughout the film, until the very last minute. Sideways succeeds in recreating the nice ambience of a trip where two friends take attack the road of grape harvests of California. Unconvincing and touching interpretation of Paul Giamatti playing in a very good film but which, in my view, contrary to what others could think of, does not transport a rather powerful message to be part of my favourite films. A thing is sure, it is that the first thing that I made having listened to Sideways... It is to open me a good bottle of red wine. Ahhh, pleasure....

You haven't lived...if you haven't seen this (in the Eighties)...or gone to Woodstock (in the Sixties...BEFORE my time..) or gone several times & midnight movies showings of the Rocky Horror Picture Show!! (70;s) 2001 Space Oddyssey (1970-1980's??) ALSO SINCE ???? every year in the Springtime they have shown on TV The Wizard of Oz (made in 1941 during wartime...when few films were made in color)!! MUSICAL THIS MOVIE The Wiz...artist musical almost Ghetto vision of L. Frank Baum's classic tale The Wizard of Oz.

(Garcon) Antoine stumbles upon a man as he is hanging himself (Louis) Attempts to free him from his demons....over a lost love! Great restaurant scenes! Surprising lots of laughs! Good acting!! IN SPOKEN FRENCH WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES To tell you much more would be to give away the plot...much time is spent in this film in a florist shop!! LOL

(2003 Director Ridley Scott) I enjoyed this movie, an unknown film to me I rented on a Blockbuster 4 or $20 deal or something! The Director truly does justice to Eric Garcia, who wrote this book. If you have ever known anyone suffering from OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) you would know that their illness is truly beyond them...This movie also takes a close look at morals and choices we make. I think it succeeds in making the point that life is relative in every which way.
Storyline: A thief suffering from OCD discovers strength inside himself to fight his compulsive criminal actions and morals by the reappearance of his teenage daughter from whom he had been estranged. I think the themes are self-discovery and healing.

Delightful film!! (1984 Director: Paul Mazursky) Delightful film...here is synopsis from Netflix (It has been years since I have seen this! Just reflecting on the genius of ROBIN WILLIAMS!)

To me had a style reminiscent of 70's films....Mad Maxx, Soylent Green...and in that vein perhaps more art than sustenance, Loved the retrogade view of the world coming undone! Complex subjects--a future where no one can conceive and plagues occur often. Clive Owen stars as Julianne Moore's ex-husband who becomes enlisted into the cause of preserving the life of one young female who has miraculously conceived--and to transport here and her offspring to a safe haven (a ship)!
Set in 2027 where the future looks bleak. Violence is everywhere in the streets, poverty and chaos is apparent.
Michael Caine plays the true blue friend of Clive Owen's character....donning long locks and playing John Lennon music...MUST SEE!

This movie earns 6 stars out of 5 in my book. Jack Nicholson, Helen Hunt, Greg Kinner. Introduced me to Greg Kinner who I have not stopped seeing in movies since! turned in a phenominal acting as the gay neighbor who is mugged. Cuba Gooding Jr plays his art agent. HEART- WARMING. MUST SEE. 3 STRANGERS FIND TRUE DEEP FRIENDSHIP IN THE LONELY BIG CITY.

[ I have not..but know those who have) Both Scarlett & Bill are stuck for about 1 week in Toyko, Japan..Bill to make a Japanese Whiskey commercial...Scartlett travelling with her photographer new husband who is rarely available encounters Bill Murray and quickly develops a friendship. There is a kinship between these 2 due to perhaps being displaced in Japan?
Whatever the reason the chemistry is warm and friendly. Despite their age difference, these 2 have quite a bit in common. (to be continued

I enjoyed this film because of the acting talents of Marissa Tomey. 2 lonely people meet on the job but Adam defends Caroline while on her way home from the diner she is jumped by two men. Very, very unusual film. Adam is a primitive individual though quite ultra sensitive and alone. The chemistry between these two is a "worth see." Call me a romantic if you must.

Hackman plays an alcoholic high school basketball coach, Coach Dale, who is given another chance by his hometown. Lovely Barbara Hershey co-stars in this one. Dennis Hooper stars as a way-too-humble down on his luck drunk.

(2008 Director: Michael McCarthy) In a word?--Outstanding! This low key film appealed to me on many levels. i seemed to feel what the characters were feeling and could relate alot to Walter. Perhaps U 2 have foreign friends who have touched your life? Different cultures but wonderful peoples?
Movie focuses on the life of Walter, a normal widowed college profeessor who works in CT but maintains an apartment in NYC. Perchance he befriends a street minstrel and his wife...whom someone has given them a key to his rarely used NYC apartment. Walter is veyr amiable & is drawn to this young immigrant couple which their own problems. HIs association with Tarek, an excellent drummer, and his partner enriches his own somewhat lonely and bland life. Walter comes alive learning the drums for himself with the help of Tarek.
I have so much more to say about this movie...but it is quite late...and I was deeply moved (to be continued)

Perhaps a bit of "Baby Boom" --mixed with Bridget Jones + Gidget makes good (but seting: freezing cold winter in Wisconsin) maybe.....LOVED Siobhan Fallon as the very casual + "homey" Minnesota secretary...Bridget could almost be a Spice Girl for her glamour & amazing figure in this film...watching her trying to walk in ice/snow in spiked high heels.. !Aye caumba!! LOL Know any Minnesotoanseoses?? Kind of a bit on the Canadian side, hey?! :) MORE TO FOLLOW

(2007 Director: Rob Reiner) div style="width:445px;"> Lovely tale though sad of Nicholson and Freeman who meet in the Oncology Ward--2 patients living their end days/months with gusto and compiling their own individual, unique bucket lists.....Tho a most unusual pairing 2 men of different race and social status share the common link of a terminal diagnosis. the result? a most moving film I watched in the last month or 2 before my own father's passing. Memorable!!
