Resident Evil (2002,  R)
Resident Evil
Resident Evil is a great adaptation from video game to big screen hit. It mixes the perfect amount of violence, blood, and action to make an A-List horror film. I have to say that I am a huge fan of the video game so I was nervous when they announced that they were making it into a movie. So I didnt go in with high expectations. So I was deffenitly suprised with the outcome. Wich was a great zombie movie with superb acting and some of the best effects that I've sen in a long time. I would deffenitly recommend any one who likes blood, violence, and zombies to check this movie out.

Resident Evil - Apocalypse (2004,  R)
Resident Evil - Apocalypse
I thought that Resident Evil Apocalypse was much better for fans of the Resident Evil video games than the original Resident Evil. The first Resident Evil all though yes was a great stand alone movie didn't capture the video game feel to me like this one did. The gore was less than I would have liked. I personally think that they should have done a lot more in the blood department then they did but what they did have wasn't that bad. The acting was one of my favorite things about this film. I am a huge fan of Milla Jovovich and I thought that she nailed the character Alice perfectly. The cinema photography was decent but could have been a lot better the camera spun a lot for my taste. But I am so happy that they didn't do that cheap trick where they cut to the video game during one of the action sequences like they did in House of the Dead, and Doom. One of the only things that I actually didn't like was the poster. It just looks like it was made by a freshman high school student on a lap top during lunch period. Other than that I thought that Resident Evil Apocalypse was a good fun zombie movie with some really good action sequences. I say check it out.

Stay Alive (2006,  PG-13)
Stay Alive
I don't care how many reviews you read saying this movie sucked, I have to say I rather enjoyed it. So the plot is based around a group of friends who inherit an underground video game after one of them dies. After they play the game one by one the friends start to die the same way their characters died in the game, can they uncover the mystery of the game, or will it be too late? Now I know the plot might sound a bit played out, but I found it surprisingly original. Acting, reasonable you get a solid lead cast, that needs to work on their emotional delivery a bit, but nothing too wretched. I think that the best was done with what was given. Gore, could have been better. You get a nails through the body, shears through the stomach, some flashes of blood, a hanging, impalement, someone being run over by a horse drawn carriage, and a few good shots of a killing in a video game. All and all not bad, but could have been so much better, this movie had all of the makings for a solid hardcore R rating, but was butchered for a PG-13, bad move, very bad move. Soundtrack, I liked a lot of the music on this one, but it failed at creating any kind of suspense or tension, Except for the wicked video game controller vibration sounds. Directing, sadly Bell chose to go resort to cheap scares a bit in the film. But you do get some cool shots of the video game. But even though this one might be generated more in the teenager direction it still kept the audience intrigued. You wondered what was going to happen to these characters and what was going to come next. Bottom line, Stay alive might have had quite a few flaws but still managed to keep its audience engrossed with the film. It has to be said that slasher movies were not meant to have a PG-13 rating, but somehow this one found ways to make it work. With reasonable acting, a semi-original plot, and some nice gore shots, I say check this one out. But be warned this is a love it or hate it movie with no guarantee.

Darkness (2004,  PG-13)
Darkness
I went into Darkness expecting the stereo-typical ghost story, but I have to say this movie was anything but typical. So the film is based around this family who move into a new house, as soon as they get there bad things start to happen, their father gets a sickness back after years of treatment, and Paul the youngest child starts waking up with bruises on his body. Now it's up to Regina to convince her family that there is something wrong with the house before they are all overcome by the darkness. Like I said I was expecting something that has been done a million times, but to my surprise we get an original movie. Acting, while in most ghost stories the bulk of the movie lies on the shoulders of the actors in this one it really didn't. You don't get bad performances from the cast parse' but they definitely could have been better. We get Anna paquin as the lead role, playing Regina, and while she did a good job I still found the performance to be a bit mediocre. One performance that was anything but mediocre was Stephan Enquist as Paul. He delivered in every aspect. Gore, I wasn't disappointed really in this department because I am a fan of a good bloodless supernatural movie that relies more on CGI and suspense, but I was told that this movie was a bloodbath. Maybe to a middle school girl this would come off as a bloody movie, but as a girl who has seen some of the goriest movies ever made this one was actually bloodless. You get a bloody hand, some creepy faces, and that's about it. Soundtrack, total score, you get strings and very chilling piano music, that worked well when combined with the directing, giving off a suspense building vibe. Speaking of suspense this movie has it. It has been a long time since a movie has actually been able to keep me on the edge of my seat, but this one did it. I jumped so many times that I felt as if I was watching my first horror film all over again. The one thing that I did have a problem with was the cuts that were made. Ok, all that I have to say is if your going to make a movie, make it the way you want the viewers to see it, don't cut it up and bring down the rating and then later decide to release the full version and mark it unrated. That's exactly what Dimension films did, instead of releasing the whole film which was originally given an R rating, they decided to make some cuts and give it a PG-13 rating so that they could have a bigger release. So a bigger release for a worse movie, well doesn't that make all the sense in the world. But enough of my whining about the inevitable way the movie industry works and back to the movie, which as I was saying succeeded in being a truly scary ghost story. The plot usually has to be balanced with a lot of other things to make a movie work but this one the plot was just so good that really I think you could have had any second rate actress on screen and as long as you had this script and Balagureo' behind the camera you would have an A rate film. Bottom line, Darkness has to be one of the most original creepiest ghost stories to come out in a long while, I say if you haven't already go out and get this movie, definitely worth a check.

The Hills Have Eyes II (The Hills Have Eyes 2)
Although it lacked the rawness of the 2005 remake The Hills of Eyes 2 was still really good. I was not expecting much when I went into this because I am a huge fan of Wes Cravens original. But I have to say that I was pleasently suprised. With good acting and reasonable gore it was one of the better remakes that has been made in the last couple of years. Again I wish that it was more raw and daring like the 2005 remake but every film has it's flaws. The gore in this made up for it though. There was quite a bit of blood in this gem. I would say check this out if you are a fan of Wes Cravens 1985 original I think you are going to be plesantly suprised.

I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997,  R)
I Know What You Did Last Summer
I Know What you Did Last Summer reminded me of those great 1980 slasher films. With such a basic revenge plot and a fisherman serial killer I do not know how this movie was able to be as good as it was but I found it to be a really good flashback to the 80's. Now even though I was not around in the 80's I am still a fan of the era. I know what you did Last Summer was a uniqe revenge story with plenty of twists. The acting was top noch and the gore was outstanding (Who knew you could do so much with a fish hook?). I would say that this is a must have in any horror colection. If you are in the mood for an original 80's style horror movie then check this one out.

Jason X
I read reviews that said this was the worst Jason movie made and that it was the worst movie ever made and I have to say I don't know what they were talking about. I found Jason X to be yes a little out there for A Friday the 13th sequel but still a fun gory pleasure. The acting was typical for a slasher movie you get a few solid performances from the lead characters and a bunch of crap from everyone else. The gore is some of the best that I have seen in a Jason movie. You get everything here from a face being shattered, decapitations, and many many limbs falling off non stop here. The plot like I said was a little out there but still worked. And the soundtrack I have to say this is one of my favorite movie soundtracks. The only thing that I didn't like about this was the poster I do not know what they were thinking. Bottom line Jason X kept at a good pace had phenomenal gore, reasonable acting, and was very enjoyable. I say if you like the Friday the 13th series lighten up and enjoy this outrageous sequel. Worth a check.

I thought that well yes it was a great remake and much better than alot of the PG-13 rip off's that we have seen latley it still in my opinion did not live up to it's hype. I have read some reviews saying that it was even better than the original (impossible) so I was expecting this amazing movie and it was just not cutting it. I did not care for the acting at all. And it was trying to compeate with one of the greatest horror movies in history and quite frankly paled in comparison. I was also way to funny. I did not walk in expecting a Horror-Comedy but thats what I got. I think that they had really good aspects and could have made this really intense movie but instead ruined it with mindless humor. And the ending that just ruined it for me (Those of you who have seen the movie know what I'm talking about. Those of you who haven't you'll see what I meen) .The only saving grace for this was the effex. The CGI and gore where fantastic in this. I also really liked the music that they used. It had a great pase and really kept up with the plot. I would say if you are in the mood for a well made remake with great gore and pointless humor then check this one out. If not then rent the original.

Rest Stop (2006,  R)
Rest Stop
Rest Stop has to be one of the most underrated films to be released in the past five years. The film centers around this young couple who are either on a road trip or running away from their parents, anyway they stop at this rest stop. While there the lead characters boyfriend just disappears with the car. Alone in an abandoned rest stop the lead character is forced in a game of cat and mouse with Rusty Nail a truck driver who insists on making her play his psychotic games. Now while it might sound like your standard road trip horror film I can guarantee to you that it is not. This is not to be mixed up with movies like Joy Ride and Monster Man, Rest Stop unlike those films has a plot and the way that it is executed is near perfection. This is one of the first films to be released from Raw Feed Productions and was made on a budget, but you wouldn't guess it. The look and feel of the film is of that you would find in a big screen mega budget movie. The sound effects are perfect; you get sharp camera angles and also great visuals. Gore, you get a finger chewed off, some drilling of limbs, brains being splattered all over the place, some bloody blows to the head, vomiting blood, a tongue being cut out, and a bit more, definitely some good stuff. Acting, its obvious going into the movie that even though there are some other characters most of it lies on the shoulders of the lead character played by Jamie Alexander, and she did not disappoint. Her performance was believable and was able to keep the audience intrigued for the duration of the film. Another thing that I want to give the filmmakers credit for is the pacing. Now there are a lot of twists and turns in this and the filmmakers had many chances to slow things down, but they didn't and it worked. Bottom Line Rest Stop is not your typical road trip horror films and deserves attention! This film is underrated and deserves a lot more credit then it has received. With phenomenal acting, great gore, and a fantastic plot that is perfectly executed I say check this one out.

Jeepers Creepers 2 (2003,  R)
Jeepers Creepers 2
Although not as good as the original, Jeepers Creepers 2 still managed to be one of the best sequels to come out in what seems to be an eternity. So the plot is based around a group of high school students on their way home from a game, traveling in the middle of nowhere they get a flat tire, the decide to keep going in hopes that they will still be able to make it home only to have another glitch of bad luck were they get yet another flat tire. Stuck in the middle of nowhere in a broke down school bus, the students are plagued by the "Creeper" who's on a mission to kill and eat everyone he can before the night is over. Ok so the plot is different from the original, which here lately is odd seeing as all sequels replicate their predecessors. But with this one they give a very new very original spin to the stuck in the middle of nowhere with no way to leave sub genre we have going. Acting, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised with the acting that we get in this one. I was expecting stereo-typical performances, but instead you get believable, realistic acting. Even though some of the characters are completely unbelievable and your wishing that they would just die already, it still gives you some sort of character depth. As for gore I would have liked to see a bit more but what you do get is not half bad, a couple decapitations, stick through the head, and a bit more but not much. This is yet another aspect that surprised me in this movie, rather than go in the typical monster movie form and fill the screen with a ton of gore and very little suspense, director Victor Salva decided to do the opposite and do very little gore and a lot of suspense, and it worked very well. My biggest pet peeve with sequels is when we get a different director than the original. You can always see the difference no matter how big of a fan they were of the original. So I was super happy verging on ecstatic when I heard that Victor Salva the same man who directed the original was returning to do the sequel, and let me tell you he delivered. The directing was impeccable especially giving that 90% of the movie takes place in a bus. You'll also notice that this film contains a lot more action than the original did. As I said I am a huge fan of the original and found it to be one of the best most original films to come out in a long time, but I don't want to see the same thing in the sequel and Salva did a wonderful job at making sure that fans got a movie true to the original yet new and exciting. Soundtrack, major score. You get an eerie intense soundtrack that went with the film perfectly. Although you have probably heard it all before trust me it's just what the film needed. Bottom line, Jeepers Creepers 2 is an intense suspense filled sequel that delivers in almost every aspect, with a great plot, great acting, and wonderful directing I say check this one out, sure not to disappoint.

I was not expecting much when I went into this because I read alot of reviews that said that it was awful, but I have to say that it was not that bad. Now don't get me wrong it was no where near as good as the original. But comared to some of the remakes wev'e had out latley (Prom Night, April Fools Day, The Omen, just to name a few) this was actually quite refreshing. The gore in this is done very well and is quite enjoyable. The acting is just wreched as is the dialogue. But I do not know there is somthing about this movie that is just plain good. I would say to check this one out but be sure not to miss the original.

Although it might be predictable and a bit cheesy Valentine still manages to be an enjoyable slasher flick. Ok, so the plot is based around a group of girls who each turned down a middle school nerd. Years later that same nerd comes back dead set on getting revenge on the girls who turned him down. So the plot is pretty standard for a slasher flick. Nothing new, and very unoriginal, but I have to say that's what I was expecting and what I wanted when going into this film. I love a good slasher/ who done it movie, and this was it. What surprised me about this was how many people didn't like this movie. To be honest I just don't see why. This reminded me of classic slasher movies like My Bloody Valentine and mainstream slasher movies like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Urban Legend, all rolled into one. Acting, I was very surprised with what a line up they had for this one, you get the wonderful David Boreanaz as Adam a not so recovering alcoholic, who had a mysterious side and he played the role very well, although he did get some unfortunate dialogue. As for the female actors you get Denise Richards playing her usual eye candy character, and all though I'm pretty sure that's the only reason why she was there, she still did a reasonably good job. Much better than a lot of the second rate acting we've been seeing lately. Also there's a small part played by Katherine Heigl. What I find funny is that out of all the people they cast in this film only a couple of them were real actors, and one of those people was Heigl, and she got one of the smallest roles in the film, and played that role better than all of the other actors. As for gore, we get arrows through the stomach, a man being beaten to death with an iron, an axe in the back, a slashed throat, a very cool drilling/ electrocution scene, some gun shots, a decapitated head, and a very nice glass through neck scene. All and all I was very happy with the amount of gore. Soundtrack, nice score with this one, you get atmospheric music that fit's well. So obviously I really enjoyed this movie, and to be frank it is very much underrated. Bottom line, Valentine is one of the best slasher films to come out in a long while, with a slick style, cool killings, a nice cast ensemble, and an unoriginal plot that works. It's not nearly as bad as everyone wants it to; actually it's not that bad at all. I say lighten up and check this one out.

Bug
This was one of the most boring, bland, and plain dreadful movies that I have ever seen. I don't know where to start I don't think that there was one good aspect in this movie. The plot two crazy people think the goverment has put bugs in them. Thats it and for the next two hours you are stuck watching them run around a motel room with foil. There was no gore you get one scene were the lead guy yanks out his tooth. But I was so bored that I hardly even noticed. The acting was just awful. I think that this movie played itself to be somthing that it wasn't. People expected to go in and get this great movie about killer bugs and they didn't, then they expected to get this phycological thriller that left them wanting more and again they didn't, And what else is left. They would have been better off making a killer bug movie than this. I hated everything about this from the plot, to the acting, the gore, the music, and the poster everything sucked. I say do whatever you have to do to skip this.

Feast (2005,  R)
Feast
I do not even know where to start about Feast. There was alot to love but it was meant with an equel amount of stuff to hate. Let start right off the bat by saying Feast is a Horror-Comedy so any one looking foe a serious ground breaking horror film this is so not for you. Some things that I didn't like about the film where first of all the dialouge. While some people might find it funny I found it to make no sense and just make the movie seem cheap. Another thing that I hated about this movie was the acting I meen are there any ligit actors out there anymore? The third thing was this was just trying to be somthing that it was not. It tried to take this no holds bar aproch where anyone could die. But it did not live up to it 15 minutes in I knew who was safe and who wasn't. So how can this get 3 1/2 stars you ask. Like I said it was ment in the middle. This movie has some of the best gore that I have ever seen. You name it this one has it. And the monsters were perfect. So I would recomend for a highly enjoyable Horror-Comedy just sit back and enjoy the show it will either leave wanting more or saying why the heck did I just endore that. Either way I say check it out.

Unrest (2006,  R)
Unrest
Unrest is one of the original movies from the first Afterdark Horrorfest, and perhaps one of the best. Ok, the plot is based around a medical student who has an eerie feeling about her team's cadaver. So she starts to look into the woman's history, only to find out that there is this curse tied to body's that have been "disrespected". And her team's cadaver is one of those bodie's, and she is hell bent on killing anyone who has disrespected her body. So the concept of the film is obviously interesting, and the way it is executed was actually really good. Now I went into this knowing that it was a low budget horror movie, so I didn't expect much, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The acting, could have been better you get reasonably good performances from the lead cast, but nothing noteworthy. Gore, not as much as I was expecting but what they did have was rather good. You get a ton of cadavers. Ones with their legs cut off, others with their chest ripped open. Other than that you get mild blood. Soundtrack, lots of moody music, loud drums ect.. but nothing really memorable. One thing I do want to give the makers credit for is the poster. Very cool, creepy, and original. Bottom line Unrest is one of the better films to be released from the original Afterdark Horrorfest. Although the acting is second rate the plot and cool cadaver shots make up for that. I recommend you check this one out.

The Gravedancers (2006,  R)
The Gravedancers
The Gravedancers was one of the best movies in the original Afterdark horrorfest line up hands down. What I really loved about this was how original it was. I can safely say that I have never seen a movie like this. So the plot is based around a group of old college friends who reunite after the death of one of their friends. After a few drinks they decide to visit the cemetery that their friend is buried at. There they find this creepy letter that basically tells them to dance on graves; well they dance on the wrong graves and are haunted by evil ghosts. Now it might sound a little out there and maybe even a bit silly but trust me the way that it is executed is anything but. The acting was actually pretty good other than one sad performance from Dominic Purcell, but forget about that and you have a pretty solid lead cast. Gore, there isn't a lot of actual "gore" you get one slit throat and other than that you get a lot of blood. But they don't take it to a stupid level. That's another thing that I really liked about this movie, it had so many chances to be just another typical stupid ghost story but didn't overcome to any of them. It also gave off a really creepy atmosphere that is always key in any good ghost story. And finally the soundtrack I have no complaints you get a very suspenseful soundtrack that blended well with the whole film. And the creepy piano music that they had was just perfect. Bottom line The Gravedancers was definitely one of the best in the original After Dark lineup. You get an all original plot, good acting, and an all around great movie. I say check this one out.

Wicked Little Things (2006,  R)
Wicked Little Things
Wicked Little Things did surprise me, because it was not what I thought it was going to be at all. I went in expecting a typical zombie film and I have to say this surpassed my expectations. Ok, so the movie is based around a single mother and her two daughters who move to this house that they inherited from her dead husband. Little did they know in the early 1900's there was a horrible mining accident that killed a large group of kids, and now there back and with a vengeance. Killing anything and everything that goes anywhere near the mines. Now while it might sound a bit played out, this actually is a good ghost/zombie story. Acting, you get pretty solid performances from the entire cast but nothing noteworthy. Gore, not much at all you get an impalement, some children eating intestines, and a lot of blood splatter. One of the only flaws of the film was that there were a lot of scenes at night and the director let the darkness take over, making it hard to see what was going on, this was a real pain and definitely minimized the amount of gore that we got to see. But this was meant by a genially creepy atmosphere that was nothing like I've seen in any zombie film prior and in this movie it wasn't all about the gore it was about the story and the characters which in the zombie genre is very hard to come by and was quite refreshing. The soundtrack was also quite nice you get reasonably paced mood music that fits the storyline very well. And I have to give them credit for the poster. I mean this poster was creepy and gave you a fair representation of what the film is going to be, and what horror fan isn't a sucker for a good evil child poster right? Bottom line Wicked Little Thing was one of the better movies in the original Afterdark Horrorfest lineup and gave the zombie genre a whole new twist on what a zombie film can be. With good acting, an eerie atmosphere, and a truly creepy plot that made you happy you live in the city I say Wicked Little Things is a must see. Check this one out.

Flight of the Living Dead: Outbreak on a Plane (Plane Dead)
I went into this not expecting much at all and I guess I was in a really good mood that day because I really liked this movie. Don't get me wrong it this wouldn?t make it in my must see category but it definitely shouldn't be over looked. The acting was surprisingly good you get solid performances from the lead cast. The cast in general is typical you can pick out in the beginning who will live and who will die. The CGI rocked for a low budget movie like this was. You get good gore from start to finish. The zombies were not half bad the neon yellow contacts were a bit much but that?s very easy to overlook. What really shocked me was that this movie was able to keep a really steady pace. I wasn't sure with the whole air plane scenario how they would be able to, but somehow they did. I say that Flight of the Living Dead was one of the better straight to DVD zombie flicks that I've seen. Worth a check.

Captivity (2007,  R)
Captivity
Yet another film I was looking forward to that turned out to be nothing but a cheap imitation of Saw. Ok, so the plot is based around this supermodel Jennifer that gets kidnapped by a crazy killer, and wakes up in a basement there she meets Gary, in the next room or cell and they are forced to play the killers games in order to escape. I am so sick of torture movies that try to imitate films like Hostel, and Saw. The torture scenes that they did have were un-original and totally predictable. I mean honestly did you really expect them to kill off the main character? Acting, the majority of the film is put on the shoulders of Elisha Cuthbert who plays Jennifer and Daniel Gillies who plays Gary. Gillies had a solid performance, obviously it could have been better, but given what he had to work with I think he deserves quite a bit of credit. As for Cuthbert I just wasn't buying it, her performance was unbelievable and at some points even humorous to watch. Now maybe it wasn't her and was just the script, either way it sucked. Gore, this was the one place that I thought it would be a given that they would have something. But no, nothing at all, you get minor blood spatter and yep that's just about it. Soundtrack, it was actually rather good. You get very good atmosphere mood music. But it was too good actually this film didn't need that solid of a soundtrack it just overdid the movie. Directing, as I was with the rest of the film I was disappointed. I personally found no moments with any tension, nothing memorable, and nothing that made me even ask myself who was behind the camera. One of the worst aspects about this film is how forgettable it is. I really mean it, within a couple of weeks after watching the film you'll have to ask yourself "was that the one I watched"? It wasn't bad enough to remember but not good enough to either. Also this one was a huge copy cat, I mean really did they honestly think no one would catch the similarities between this one and Saw? Also the posters for this were just plain bad. Bottom line, all that Captivity is, is an unoriginal, boring, forgettable film with absolutely no gore. This one offers nothing new, all though not the worst I've ever seen it still didn't work. Maybe if you have nothing better to do and aliens came down and stole all the rest of your DVD's but other than that I say skip it.

Sublime (2007,  R)
Sublime
I do not even know were to start I thought that Sublime was one of the most boring, dull, and most pointless movies that I have seen. Do not be fooled by the movie poster this is not in anyway a horror movie. At best all that it is is a drama based around a hospital. I must have asked myself twenty times during the film whether I should turn it off. Through out the whole film we are going back and forth between flashbacks and the present. There basically is no plot and I have to wonder why on earth someone would make this at all. And gore, forget about it you get nothing not one drop and I had the unrated addition. The acting was ok throughout the whole 2 hour long (Yes 2 hours) all that you saw was the lead actor lying in a bed with doctors and nurses walking in and out. Bottom line Sublime gives a new name to films that take to long to get to the point because this one doesn't even have one. You get no plot, no gore, no entertainment what so ever. I say if you already have this and just haven't watched it yet burn it, if your thinking about getting it don't and if you have already had to sit through this then I am so sorry.

My Bloody Valentine
First of all I am reviewing the uncut addition that came out this year that the MPAA didn't get to put their claws into. And if you ask "Whats the difference"? Let me tell you there is a huge difference. My Bloody Valentine definitely fell into the typical 80's slasher category but in my opinion its extensive use of top notch effects made it so much better. Yes, in this you get gore non stop top of the line gore. The acting was surprisingly good. Usually in a low budget movie if you get really good gore you get bottom of the barrel acting this movie shows that you can have both phenomenal gore and good acting. But other than the gore one of my favorite aspects of this movie was the way that it was shot. The cinema photography in this was perfect. And of course it can't go without being said that My Bloody Valentine has one of the coolest slasher movie killers to date. The gas mask and the mining axe are simply perfection. The only thing that I disliked about this was it had a few slow moments. But in my opinion its worth a few slow moments. If you are ready to see one of the best slasher movies to make it out of the 80's then go get this one. Definitely worth a check.

30 Days of Night (2007,  R)
30 Days of Night
I thought that 30 Days of Night did not in any way live up to it's hype. I meen it's a good movie. But not the best vampire movie ever made or the best of 07. It's just a well made vampire movie. Some of the things that I didn't like about this movie was one it's acting. There was not one good actor in this entire film. The preformances were dull and lacked any talent. Number two sadly the movie did not live up to the novel's. I am a big fan of the 30 Days of night series and I have to say that the books where 10 times better than the movie. Number three, although it really doesn't have anything to do with the movie persay the movie poster royaly sucked and you know what they say the poster is a reflection off of the movie. Now some things that
I liked about the film where first of all it's gore, I thought that the effex in this where fantastic. I also loved the way this was shot. It was shot in a very cryptic dark fashion which I have to say was one of the only things about this movie that reminded me of the books. I also loved the look of the vampires. The eyes and teeth where done so well. So bottom line 30 Days of Night while yes is a good movie is also highly forgetable and will eventually fade away. I would say that if you are looking for a great adaptation of the book then walk away. But if you have never read the books then check it out.

Wrong Turn 2: Dead End (2007,  Unrated)
Wrong Turn 2: Dead End
I do not understand what people see in this movie. I meen as a stand alone film it might have been good but as a sequel to Wrong Turn it just did not keep up. There was just so much bad in this movie. Let me just start off by saying that this is a Horror-Comedy so if you are expecting the same depth and atmosphere of Wrong Turn then walk away. The acting was just awful. There were no likeable charecters. And the plot I meen can we say generic. Reality show gone awry, lost in the woods with mutant cannabils. That has been done how many times. I also thought that this was just trying to be somthing that it was not. It tried to have the rawness of The 05 Hills Have Eyes remake. But all that it did was look like a cheap generic Horror-Comedy, that only gave you stuff you've already seen a million times. I will give it this the gore was fantastic. It was bloody and hardcore, in my opinion that was the only thing that was worth watching in this movie. If you are in the mood for a pointless Horror-Comedy with great gore check this one out. If not check out the original.
231
Saw IV (2007,  R)

The Tripper (2007,  R)
The Tripper
The Tripper is what I would call a aquired taste. While it is out there with it's gross humor, drug use, and a serial killer based off of a Ronald Reagan wanna be, I still liked it. And I can safley say that I have never seen anything like it before, and any movie that I can come out saying "that was new" is ok in my book. The gore was awsome, and the way that it was shot gave a legit Woodstock feel to the film. The acting lacked a bit but not to bad. It was also able to give you the horror film fixation but at the same time remain funny and out going. But like I said it was a bit over the top but were would we be without over the top movies right? I give The Tripper 4 stars but beware not for anyone looking for a serious movie that will leave them gasping for more. With this it might leave you laughing for more though. I would say worth a check, or at least a rental.

Whisper (2007,  R)
Whisper
Whisper in my opinion was surprisingly original and good. So the plot is based around this couple who wants to open a diner but the bank denies them a loan so they of course decide to kidnap a rich family's kid and ask for ransom. Little did they know David is an evil child and getting rid of him is going to be much harder than they thought. Although this might seem to follow the stereo typical evil kiddie film this movie is all original and definitely will give you something that you were not expecting. Starting with the acting ok, I am not a fan of Lost and it's second rate wannabe actors at all, and I think that one of the only faults of the film was casting them. But luckily the acting skills of Blake Woodruff were enough to save them. I am telling you this kid knows how to act, his performance is one of the best I have ever seen in an evil child film, and that's saying a lot because evil children are one of my favorite sub genres. Gore, actually not much at all, of course you get a dead bird and stuff just because every evil little boy has to start somewhere but that?s just about it. What's really cool about this movie was that it didn't need it. Gore in most cases is a necessity in horror films but in this the suspense and the character depth are plenty. I love films that are completely and utterly fixated on the story and the characters and this one definitely has that. I also loved the atmosphere the setting and the tension that it made was just impeccable. Soundtrack, this takes place in the holiday season so you get some Christmas music but I personally loved it and thought it was a total score. Now this movie was released right around the time the Omen remake came out. Now the Omen (original) was inevitably one of the best demon child films in history and in my opinion the remake sucked and I was so disappointed. So having this come out not to long after was perfect because you got everything in this that you should have gotten in the remake. Bottom line, this is sure to please any one who likes evil children movies. And even if you think you have seen it all, trust me you haven't and you need to go get this. Definitely worth a check.

This movie was one of the worst movies that I have ever seen. It took an hour and a half before anyone died and when they did it sucked there was no point to even making a movie like this. It had low rate effects no gore and it was a horrible waste of time movie that again there was no point in making.

Sl8n8 (Slaughter Night) (2006,  Unrated)
Sl8n8 (Slaughter Night)
I thought that Slaughter Night was a pretty decent horror movie. You get juvenile acting just like in any low budget horror movie. The gore was minimal all that you get is a couple of very bloodless scenes. So if your asking where the decent movie part comes in it's all in the suspense. You get a few suspenseful scenes. In typical slasher movie form the characters begin to turn on each other after the killing starts this actually gives you a few intense moments. The plot is hard to describe without giving it away but lets just say that it is a typical, predictable plot. I knew who was safe from the moment I sat down. Bottom line if you are expecting one of those non stop gore fest of a movie that the French have been releasing here lately then skip this one the gore here is hardly existent. But for a reasonably suspenseful French horror flick check this out.

28 Weeks Later... (2007,  R)
28 Weeks Later...
Once in a blue moon a film comes along that happens to be better than the original, and I have to say that 28 Weeks Later is one of those movies. Ok so the plot is based 28 Weeks, after a deadly virus took over the world. Everything seems to be getting normal, and the infection appears to be contained. The U.S. Army is getting ready to start re-populating the states, but it wouldn't be a good horror flick if every thing went as planned would it? In a turn of events the infection begins to spread again, and it's a fight for survival for those left alive. Now I wasn't a huge fan of the original film, 28 Days Later. I might be in a minority here, but it just didn't work for me. So I went into the sequel not expecting much at all. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised. Acting, you get wonderful performances from the entire cast. This movie is a solid horror film with no comedic aspects at all, so the performances had to be pretty gritty, and the whole cast managed to play their parts perfectly. Yet still remain likeable characters. Gore, bloodbath, total bloodbath. You get nonstop gore in this one, including, very bloody shootings, decapitations, dismemberments, eye gauging, and one really cool scene straight out of the original Dawn of the Dead involving lot's of zombies and one mean helicopter. All and all I was very pleased with the amount of blood shed. Soundtrack, nice moody music. Like I said this movie is a dramatic horror film. Don't get me wrong here, it is fun to watch, but it has its moments and the soundtrack really fit that. I just can't get over how good this movie was. From the opening scene that took a lot of guts to the final shot, you get non stop action. The films leading characters are children, which was also a pleasant surprise. It gave the movie a different spin compared to other zombie flicks. And just when your about to say, "They've done everything they can with the zombie genre" something like this comes out that gives you new hope. Bottom Line, unlike its predecessor 28 Weeks Later delivers action, gore, suspense, believable performances, twists and turns, and an all original plot. If you haven't gotten the hint, it's a bad-ass flick. I say if you haven't already get up and check this one out.

Resident Evil: Extinction
I love horror movies that switch it up a bit and puts lots of action in with their gore, and that's exactly what this did. You get plenty of action sequences and plenty of gore to go with it. The acting was perfect in this other than one unneeded disaster of a performance by Ashanti. I have said it before and I will say it again I am a huge fan of Milla Jovoich and she blew it out of the ball park in this. Another thing that I really enjoyed in this was how much it reminded me of the video game. Don't get me wrong here it's not a play by play of the Resident Evil games but it still gives you that atmosphere that reminds you of the game. I really liked the directing and cinema photography. Some of the shots of Vegas were pretty cool. One of the only things that I would have changed in this was the soundtrack. I think that they could have picked much better music to go along with the action scenes. But regardless of the hardly there soundtrack Resident Evil Extinction was a perfect ad to the Resident Evil series. It highlights the video game in all the right ways and even those of you who haven't played the game will still definitely be able to enjoy the movie. Check this one out.

Shutter (2008,  PG-13)
Shutter
When I went into seeing this movie I had really low expectations, due to all the bad reviews that it had gotten. But I have to say that it was no that bad. Now I'm not saying that it's one of the best horror films. But most definitly not the worst. It was not in any way a "Bloody" movie. This one was leveled more on suspense and tension, and it really is suspense. This one will leave you on the edge of your seat through out the whole movie. Still like any movie it had it's faults. It was a bit slow pased and the acting was not to good at least not on the male half of the spectrum. But all around Shutter was a really well made all around good supernatural horror film. And the ending is a must see, one of the best. Now I know that Shutter was a remake, but it was a danm good one, at least when it's put up against some of the crap remakes we have out now. "Prom Night, April Fools Day". So I would say check this one out.

Ghost Son
I thought that there was a lot to like and a lot to not like about Ghost Son. The plot: A young couple Stacey and Mark move to Africa Mark gets into a fatal car accident. Shortly after his death Stacey discovers that she is pregnant with his child. Soon after the birth she discovers that her son is possessed by Mark who is trying to kill her. The plot was very interesting and all around creepy. I thought that it could have been played out much better. Watching the movie you see some moments that they could have shocked you or made you jump that where just missed. The acting was played perfectly. And the effex although there are not really much blood the scenes with the baby are so real and where done perfectly. But like I said I think that the plot could have been carried out much better than it was. This also could have used more fall back gore. But as an overall film it succeeds in being a creepy little ghost story that gives you a new take on evil kiddie movies. I say it's worth a check or at least a rent.

Halloween (2007,  R)
Halloween
Halloween was an unforgettable movie. This in my personal opinion is one of the better remakes to come along here lately. But be warned do not go in expecting anything like John Carpenters original Halloween, because this is completely different. But remember this is Rob Zombies take on the film and I would not expect anything else from Rob Zombie. Acting, you get some pretty reasonable performances from the lead cast but nothing noteworthy. Gore, you get some blood spatter, a decapitation and a slit throat. I actually expected to see a lot more than I did. What I really give the filmmakers credit for in this is they made a remake yet it seemed so original and let me tell you based around some of the remakes we?ve seen lately that is no easy task. Bottom Line there is no question this is a Rob Zombie movie for those of you who loved the suspense of the original and the drama I'm not sure if you'll like this one but I did and I say it's definitely worth a check.

Storm Warning
I thought that if you ignored the unoriginality then Storm Warning was rather good. Like I said it lacked any original thought but if you sit back and don't think about it I think that you might enjoy yourself. But beware it takes a while to get to any of the goods. But after you get there you'll see why it was worth the wait, With great gore, crazy deaths and on key acting I would say check this one out. Just don't expect anything new.

Awake is one of the best phycological thrillers that I've seen all year! The acting was phenominal and the plot was fantastic. It even had some gore. This movie could have easily been dreadful but the way that it was executed made it a intelligent horror film with plot twists and turns that leave you jaw dropped. If you want a smart horror movie that will leave you guessing then I would say check this one out.

Nightmare Man
I personally do not think you get worse than this. Nightmare Man was an utter disappointment and it is beyond me how this got on the After Dark Line up. So the plot is based around this woman who is suffering from nightmares and is terrified of the man in her dreams who she calls the "Nightmare Man". Well she is convinced that he is real and her husband is convinced that she is crazy so he is taking her to a mental hospital. But on the way they have car trouble so he is forced to get help and leave her there. Soon the Nightmare man comes after her and she is forced to take shelter in a cabin full of friends on a weekend getaway that soon turns into a bloodbath. Full of cheesy dialogue and cheap scares I found it immensely difficult to sit through this nightmare. Starting with the acting, you get generic over the top performances from the entire cast. I don't think there was one true actor in this film. Gore, this was one of the only reasonable things in this movie. You get an impalement, an arrow through the mouth, a knife through the head, and a bit more. Soundtrack, you get a pretty standard slasher soundtrack but nothing great. How someone ever agreed to make this movie is mind baffling to me. There is literally no point. You sit there wondering "is this going anywhere"? And the ending they were going for this big mind blowing ending but it was just as dull as the movie. Bottom line Nightmare Man was a horrible film that doesn't deserve one ounce of the credit that it has received. I say skip it.

Hostel: Part II
This is one of the rare cases where the sequel is just as good as the original. Just like the original I couldn't find one bad aspect in this movie. I thought that everything was perfect from the acting, to the directing, and the gore again was non stop and great. You get some of the most grisly scenes in this movie; you get a torture style blood bath (literally), a saw to the head, and one of the most gruesome castrations I have ever seen. The directing was phenomenal I love the way you are never left not knowing what is going on. You get really raw believable performances from the actors. I even loved the poster which surprised me because I read a lot of reviews that said the poster sucked, obviously people who don't know what they are talking about. One of my favorite parts in the Hostel movies is the ending you get jaw dropping I can't believe that I just saw that endings and I love it. Bottom line Hostel 2 is a fantastic sequel to the bloody dream of a movie Hostel and is not to be ignored. Check this one out.

Day of the Dead (2008,  R)
Day of the Dead
This is one of the worst horror remakes I have ever seen. Ok before I start saying everything bad that was in the film and let me tell you theres alot, lets start with some good. It had resonable effects. Yep thats it and they wernt great effects just resonable. Ok and here comes the bad things, horrible acting, terrible plot nothing like the original, sucky directing, and the zombies could climb up walls and hop. Yes hop like frogs. You have to wonder if this director said ok I want to see how bad of a movie I could make. I personally loved the original Day of the Dead. But this exept for the name is a compleatly diffrent movie. Day of the dead had decent gore but nothing to write home about and not worth the price that this DVD would cost to get. I would have to say STAY AWAY from this movie trust me its not worth it.

P2 (2007,  R)
P2
Ive read alot of reviews saying that this was a horrible movie, and it wasn't. P2 was a well made movie with plenty of gore, and suspense. The plot was belivable and well written, and it had top notch acting. Now don't get me wrong here P2 wasn't a masterpiece it had its flaws just like most horror films, but thats what made it belivable. I think the "Horror" thats in this film is the same that was in Jaws the fear that it could happen to you. Its so easy to picture yourself in this womans position. It got dull at some points but that didnt last long. P2 is a suspense, thriller, with some gore. So its a great movie for any horror fan. I would say to check this one out.

Botched (2008,  Unrated)

The Cottage (2008,  Unrated)
The Cottage
I went into The Cottage expecting a fairly good horror comedy, but what I got was a very bad want to be horror comedy. So the plot is based around two brothers who have kidnapped this girl and taken her to a cottage in the woods, soon after everything starts to go wrong the woman is a foul mouthed wretched person, and their accomplice is a moron who doesn't know what he is doing, the ransom turned out to be tissues, there are two Korean hit men after them, and a deformed farmer has come to the decision that he wants their heads on a platter. Ok I knew going into this that it was a horror comedy, but to be honest it wasn't funny. The jokes are lame, the actors were too good to be funny, and the killer was so silly that it took the funny right out of him and into ridiculous. Actually the only thing that was truly funny about this movie was the soundtrack, you get some of the most idiotic music I have ever heard, that doesn't go with the story line and doesn't fit in right at all. Another thing that made this movie un-enjoyable was the starting time. I swear it took forever to get to any point and for the first 10 minutes there was no talking, I actually thought it was going to be a silent movie. As for acting, you get much better acting than this film deserves or needs for that matter. You get Andy Sekis as David the older brother who isn't exactly mean but not exactly nice either, as well as Reece Shearsmith playing the dorky little brother with a severe case of mottephobia. A really nice cast that could do a lot better than this. Gore, while the film does deliver when it comes to gore, it took so long to get to any gore that by the time it got there you really didn't care anymore. So you get a shovel through the head, a slit throat, a foot cut in half, broken nose, a machete through the stomach, pick axe through the les, and some guts. All and all not bad but still was just too late in the game to matter. I'm not really sure if you could call The Cottage a horror-comedy for there really wasn't any comedy. At best this is a mediocre slasher flick, that doesn't know exactly what it wants to be. Bottom line I found The Cottage to be boring, unoriginal, unsure, and all and all a bad movie. I say skip this generic played out want to be horror comedy, it's just not worth the time or money.

Fritt vilt (Cold Prey) (2006,  Unrated)
Fritt vilt (Cold Prey)
I had mixed feelings about Cold Prey. While yes it was one of the better slasher films to make it to DVD it still just seemed like that typical teenage movie. The acting was great. You get strong believable performances from the entire cast. The gore was minimal you get a few good shots of a broken leg, some minor blood splatter and that's about it. The killer in this movie had one pretty mean axe so I think they should have done a lot more blood then they did. But one of my favorite parts of this movie was the atmosphere. You get great tension and it just plays out extremely well. I also really loved the soundtrack. You get some very creepy music that seems to move the film along at parts were you really need it. But what I really didn't like was the gaps of time between each kill or how long it took to get there in the first place. I felt like I was waiting forever. I also didn't like the plot I mean the whole trapped in the middle of the mountains is kind of intriguing if you have a good background story for the murderer. But in this all that you get is some half ass I could have come up with this in my sleep background. Another thing that I didn't like was the ending. It was very juvenile. I think that the directors just said "well I don't know what to do next so let's cut to the credits". Bottom line I thought that Cold Prey had very high potential but lost me with its lack of thought. I say check it out at your own risk, but be warned there is no guarantee on this one.

Hostel
I don't even know were to start, I thought that Hostel was one of the finest and most daring horror movies to come out in a long time. It just has everything great acting, some of the best directing I have ever seen, and gore, gore, gore. The effects in this where just non stop. You get everything decapitations, ankle slitting, eye balls being taken out of someones skull with a drill it just never ends. The acting was truly fantastic you get strong believable performances from every character. And the directing you just don't get better than this. The way that it was shot was absolute perfection. The camera angles the lighting everything. I also loved the movie poster not to much and not to little just enough to make you intrigued. And the soundtrack, this is some of the best music I have heard in a movie. Bottom line I thought that Hostel was one of the best rawest most daring horror movies to come out since the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and is guaranteed to please any true fan of the horror genre. If you haven't already leave your house right now and go get this.

The Signal (2008,  R)
The Signal
Personaly I hated this movie. It was writen and directed by three diffrent people cut into three parts. Its Almost a horror comedy with really bad humor. I dont know how you can even call this a movie. The plot is stupid and you get introduced to charecters half way through the movie out of no where. If you askme it's a really bad cheap knock off of Stephan Kings Cell. I wouldnt waste my money on it . By all means stay away or at least dont go in with high hopes.

310
The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005,  PG-13)
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
This movie has nothing on The Exorcist. The movie is baced off of the court proceedings and the only "Exorcism" that you get to see is in flash backs. So once you actually start to get into the movie they'll cut back to the courtroom making a possibly good movie rather boring. I would stay clear of this one.
311
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974,  R)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
This was made way before its time and thats what makes it so brilliant. Its a timeless horror film because no matter what year it is you can always picture yourself in the position of these kids. In my opinion this made Tobe Hooper a true master of horror for being daring, brave, and smart enough to make it. One of the best horror movies to date.
312
Diary of the Dead (2007,  R)
Diary of the Dead
I went into seeing the movie with high hopes and I have to say to an extent they were smothered. The death scenes and the zombies the effects were great. But the plot was just neverending no real suspense or tension. To expected predictable. I favored Romeros earlier work far more compared to this. Its totally worth a rent but dont go in with high hopes.
313
The Descent (2006,  R)
The Descent
The Decent is a riveting claustrophobic horror film. The effects in this film where top rate. Strong preformances from all of its female cast. Niel Marshall has brillantly created a nightmarish gorefest that doubles as a compelling meditation on morality and what we might do for survival. This movie feeds off of every humans fears, darkness claustophobia, drowning and well being ripped limb by limb by bloodthirsty creatures. The Decent is one of the scariest horror films to date and will test the fears of any one and every one who watches it.
314
Funny Games (2008,  R)
Funny Games
I do not see the point in someone making this movie let alone watching it. It's no wonder why it only got a limited theatrical release.Personally I cant belive it even got that. Funny games wants to be this brutal horror movie but it fails to do so, I wouldnt even call this a horror movie personally. The director for some idiotic reson found it necessary to shoot a flight of stairs for five minutes at a time. Now I've seen my fair share of slow movie but this one is just ridiculous. Its pretty much just two hours filled with nothing. And when somthing finally does happen they go off screen or it really didnt happen. Then to make it all even worse in the ending is exactly what you expected it to be. The only good thing in this movie was Naomi Watts acting. Wich took this movie that was supost to be a horror film to at best a second rate drama. You got to see no one die only Naomi watching them die.I would say stay away from this movie. Naomi Watts is not worth wasting that much money. This movie if you can call it that was a wannabe horror film that had no point in even being created.

The Ruins (2008,  R)
The Ruins
I went into this movie hoping for a stomach cringing film and I have to say that's exactly what I got. The Ruins is one of the most daringly original movies that's been made in the past decade. Its baced around a killer vine. And even though it might sound silly the director succeeded in making it believable. By mixing the grand elements of paranoia and gore. And when I say gore I meen it. There are some intense "surgery" seens that get pretty graphic, but definitely in a good way. I would say that The Ruins is a must get. It has good acting, great effects, and is very well made. But be sure to get the Unrated version to get the full experience.
317
Shrooms (2008,  Unrated)
Shrooms
Shrooms to me was surprisingly original. And even more surprising to me was that it wasn't silly. Wich I have to say was kind of what I was expecting I meen it's a movie baced around kids going to Ireland to get high off of magic mushrooms. But somehow this director found a way to make it a actually really good horror movie. He could have gone in a million diffrent directions with this movie but chose to go the direction that no one was expecting him to go. Wich is what made this movie into somthing that kept your eyes glued to the screen and made you jump right along with the charecters. Shrooms had a good amount of blood and had pretty decent acting. All and all I have to say I extreamly enjoyed watching Shrooms, And it's definitly worth a check.
318
The Mist (2007,  R)
The Mist
When it comes to creativity Stephen King gets a ten. The Mist is a paronia horror movie feeding off of the fear of not knowing what the goverment is brewing up. At times got a bit boring but as a overall horror film was a complete sucsess. With one of the best endings I've seen in the past decade. If you dont mind some slow pacing then definitly check this one out.
319
Steel Trap (2007,  R)
Steel Trap
One of the most recent movies to be released from the Dimension Extreme Company is, Steel Trap. A film based around a group of people who go to a party one the top floor of an abandoned high rise apartment (Sounds fun right?) A select group of people at the party receive invites to another party on the floors below. Thinking that it's just some fun joke, the group decides to check it out. Soon they realize that they are trapped on one floor of the building with no way out, and a killer who insists on making them play his games. Ok now I personally loved this plot, it had limitless possibilities, but sadly the filmmakers chose to go in the most predictable direction and give you nothing new. This was really upsetting because I have been waiting quite some time to see this movie and had very high expectations, and this movie just did not meet any of them. Starting with acting, ha ok now I honestly don't know if you can even call this acting. It was just dreadful no one new what they were doing, and to make matters worse none of the characters were likeable, they all had very obnoxious characters that just made you cringe. And they all were so stupid! I mean honestly if you walk into a party that's center piece is a rotting pigs head there is something wrong right? Well just to give you an idea of how stupid these people were, they didn't think twice about it. Gore, I would have liked to see more in this department. You get lips sown shut, a slit throat and an axe in the head, guts, a hanging, and a heart being ripped out nothing more nothing less. Soundtrack, very, very weak, I hardly even remember one. One thing that really upset me with movie was how misleading it was. The tagline for the film is "Surviving each floor is the name of the game". This led me to believe that since they are in an abandoned building every floor would be a new challenge, were some new sick game would be or something to that extent. And in reality they were only on three floors. Directing, mediocre to say the least it wasn't really memorable at all. Ok now I know that it sounds like I hated this movie, but I didn't. It's just I had very high expectations for the movie and it didn't reach them. The film is a reasonable slasher flick. You get the typical cookie cutter characters, some decent death scenes, and some nice visuals. It was just really forgettable, and added nothing to the genre. For example, the killer, all in black with a cheap mask. Like we haven't seen that a million and two times before. Also the ending, it was just bad. But I'll give them this I didn't predict it. I honesty did not expect them to have that bad of an ending. Bottom line Steel Trap was a forgettable disappointment, but was not totally bad and might be worth a check if you have nothing better to do. But be warned with this one there is a very high chance that it will not live up to your expectations, so go in with your guard up.

Them (Ils) (2007,  R)
Them (Ils)
Them got alot of terrific reviews saying it was this horrifying movie, and in my opinion it wasnt all that horrifying. Now dont get me wrong here it was a good movie. It had good acting, good suspense, good plot. But thats just it, it was just a "good" movie. Not the "scariest movie in the past decade", or "One of the years best horror films". Them is your basic home invasion horror film with a twist. It revolves around suspense, noices, sounds, and acting more than any actual gore. So if your looking for a bloodfest kind of movie then stay away from this. But if your looking for a keep you on the edge of your seat thriller then I would dephenitly say check this one out. Them in my opinion was highly overated and only delivered in some parts of the movie not as a whole film. So I would say check this out but dont go in with high hopes.

Borderland (2007,  R)
322
Cabin Fever (2002,  R)
Cabin Fever
Cabin Fever is one of those great gut wrenching gore fest movies that takes no prisoners. Managing to shove every aspect of horror into an hour and thirty minutes. Making it a true horror classic. Cabin Fever manages to mix all the great horror ingredients together without going overboard and making a believable story, with gore by the tons, tension, sex, and did I mention gore I would say Cabin Fever is a must get and trust me you will be getting your moneys worth.
323
Slither (2006,  R)
Slither
Slither is one of those great throw back to the 80's horror movies. That includes cooky charecters, cheesy dialogue, 2nd rate effects, and loads of gore. But succseeds in keeping its viewers glued to the screen. In no way shape or form is Slither an "Original" movie but it is extremely entertaining. Giving you gore by the tons and a couple laughs along the way. This is not the movie for those with a delicate stomach. So if you want a cheesy, gory, good time then I would definitly check this one out.
324
When a Stranger Calls (2006,  PG-13)
When a Stranger Calls
Ive read alot of reviews saying that this is one of the worst remakes ever made and in my opinion its one of the best. The 2006 When a stranger calls is a remake off of a 1979 horror-thriller. Simon West managed to make a really suspenseful horror movie without making a mockery out of the original film. It makes its audience jump right along with the lead charecter. When a Stranger Calls is a very charecter driven horror movie. Thriving on suspense and good acting more than any actual gore. But still manages to scare you and keep your eyes glued to the screen through out the whole movie. I would say to overlook all those negative reviews for this film. And deffenitly check this one out.
325
Wolf Creek (2005,  R)
Wolf Creek
Wolf Creek has to be one of the most disappointing movies that I have ever seen. I went into this one expecting a good movie, after reading many reviews claiming just that. But they were wrong, so wrong. Ok, so the plot is based around these three friends that go on a road trip to Wolf Creek in Australia only to be hunted down by a serial killer. It might sound boring, lame, and like movies that you have seen a million times before, and let me tell you why, because it is. You spend the first hour, yes 60 minutes watching drunken kids partying. Pointless, absolutely pointless. Acting, I hated it; you get stereotypical performances from the entire cast, and nothing at all noteworthy. Gore, if you are able to sit through the film long enough to make it to the gore scenes you get, bloody gunshot wounds, cut off fingers, mangled body's, knife through the back, broken limbs, and a bit more. Now although this might sound rather good and like it might be worth the hour long wait, trust me it's not. Soundtrack, I don't remember one. The only thing that I even remotely enjoyed about this movie was the visuals. The imagery and cinamaphotography that you get in this is exquisite. So even though all you'll see is pointless nonsense, it will be well shot pointless nonsense. I hated the way this one played out; after it got going I predicted what was going to happen every step of the way. You spend the majority of the second hour watching 2 girls be tortured, and then the guy just wakes up and walks away, what the Hell is that? Oh and that "based on true events" that you read on the poster is a bunch of crap. Never has this happened, and speaking of the poster again, what were they thinking? That is the perfect name for this movie, what were they thinking. What were the stupid characters thinking when they did some of the air head things that they were doing. What were the makers thinking as they shot it, and what was the studio thinking when they bought it? Bottom line, Wolf Creek has to be one of the most unoriginal, pointless, and just plain boring movies that I have ever seen. Be warned this movie (if you can call it that) should be avoided at all costs. I say skip it, do whatever you have to do and just skip it.

Prom Night (2008,  PG-13)
Prom Night
Ok let me say this right now in my opinion this is not a remake this is a compleatly diffrent movie. When you take a genuine, Jami Lee Curtis slasher fick and turn it into a suspence, thriller I meen come on what were they thinking. And on top of that it was comedic. Yes comedic. You might enjoy parts of the film but not for the resons that you want to. Prom night was one of those movies that was just made to make a quick buck in the slow month of April and thats it then it will be compleatly forgotten. It wasnt made for horror fans at all. Then theres the gore wich the original was full of. Here you get nothing litterally nothing. Within the first fifteen minutes you knew everything that was going to happen next. Personally I think that Prom Night was one of the worst movies of the year. Dont bother wasting your money or time on it.

House of 1000 Corpses (2003,  R)
House of 1000 Corpses
House Of 1000 Corpses is a sick and twisted depraved horror film. But is one of the best movies ever made. Let me tell you why Rob Zombie has managed to put together the brutality of The Texas Chainsaw Massacure with the genius of
Hostel. But still managing to make it unique and all original. Making it a legendary cult classic. It mixes great elements of horror a sophisticated story line, great acting, blood, guts, and gore.
If you have a queezy stomach then this is not the film for you. Rob Zombies brilliance shines through in this horrific blood bath of a movie. I would say definitly check this movie out.

Hell Ride (2008,  R)
Hell Ride
Hell Ride to be honest reminded me of the Bucket List. All that it was about was a bunch of old geezers going through a mid-life crisis. Hell ride was one of the worst movies, if you can even call it a movie. The way it was shot was horrible, no really good gore. Not to mention theres little to no plot. For over half the movie all that you get to see is people talking thats it just people talking. I dont even see the point to movies like this beeing made. The only reson that this movie will make any money is because Quentin Tarantinos name is on it. This is one of the worst pieces of crap I have ever seen been braught to the cinima world, and any one who likes this film needs to have their eyes and brains checked. Because all it was, was a piece of garbage. STAY AWAY from this movie at all costs.

Buried Alive (2007,  Unrated)
Buried Alive
Buried Alive was unoriginal and extreamly slow paced. Ok now it might sound like I'm doging this movie and I kinda am, but it wasnt all bad. Had pretty good acting and resonable effects. At least for a straight to DVD B rate movie. Now when I say it was slow paced I meen it. You get one death 30 minutes in and the next one isn't until 45 minutes later. And on top of that the ending sucked. So even if for some reson that I will never understand you enjoyed the movie. The ending will totally blow it for you. So if you want to blow 2 hours of your day then this is the movie for you. But I would'nt recomend going in with high hopes.

Automaton Transfusion (2006,  R)
Automaton Transfusion
One of the best indie/ zombie films ever made is what I thought while I was watching this movie and then I saw the ending. Ok the movie as a whole not too bad. This movie was truly a BloodBath in every sense of the word. There was Body splitting, fetus eating, brain bashing, and decapitating. Let me tell you this movie had blood. The plot pretty basic just the typical armegeton zombie plot. The acting really was just horrible. But it was an indie. But I personally think that the gore made up for the bad acting. The way the film was shot rather sucked. Then theres the ending. I am telling you there is no absolutly no excuse for that ending. To be Continued. What is that I meen come on people. It's like the director went "well I can't think of anything else to do so just throw somthing on the screen". The gore was good but that ending just basically ruined the film for me. I would say check this one out. But DO NOT go in with hjigh hopes.

Crazy Eights (2007,  R)
Crazy Eights
To be honest this film didn't do anything for me. I didn't loathe it but I certainly did not love it. It was extreamly slow paced, little to no gore, and a dead end plot. The only resonably good aspects of this film was the acting, the movie poster, and the directing. Thats it. The film was beautifully shot but that cant over rule all the negative parts. The suspense was minimal and to be frank it was just plain BORING. No other word discribes this film better. I would not recomend this movie to anyone, who wants a thriller that will leave you on the edge of your seats. Just to someone who wants to see a Lifetime movie that got to go to theaters. Just an all around bad movie.

The Happening (2008,  R)
The Happening
I'm not sure what to think of this movie. The plot was great. It was original and interesting. But the way it was executed was horrible. There was way to much comedy. I thought that this was going to be a full on horror film but instead I got a horror comedy. The acting was awful, and the ending was fairytale. I meen it was a goody goody all is right with the world ending. The only saving grace for this movie was the ending and M. Night managed to ruin it. The only good part of this movie was the gore. But the gore was not enough to save this movie. If you are looking for one of those jaw dropping endings that M. Night Shyamalan is famous for then skip this one. To tell you the truth I've never really liked M. Night. I've always thought that he is highly overated and dosn't deserve 90% of the credit that he gets. The only movie he made that I enjoyed was The Village. So this only adds fuel to the fire. So I would say overlook this one and pretend that it never happend.

Trailer Park of Terror (2008,  R)
Trailer Park of Terror
Trailer Park of Terror is one of the most outrageously fun horror comedies that I have seen since Dead Alive. So the plot is based around Norma, a woman who is destined to spend an eternity in a Trailer Park overrun by evil hillbilly zombies and she is the queen, because years prior she made a deal after her boyfriend was murdered to get her revenge on everyone in the park as long as the spent her present life and after life there. Now current day a group of troubled youth and a not so faithful priest end up in the trailer park after there bus crashes. Little do they know Norma has a lot more in store for them than just a place to stay. Ok now anyone who is a fan of the comics will absolutely love this movie, it is completely reminiscent of the books. Now I am a huge fan of the Tales from the Crypt series and this reminded me of them a lot, just don't confuse this with some of the other cheap zombie flicks we've seen lately case in point, Zombie Strippers, and Feast. This movie all though yes, is a little bit up there on the cheese factor still is an enjoyable movie with an actual plot, the only difference is this one doesn't try and hide what it is, it put's it all out there making a wonderful love it or hate it movie. Starting with acting, I have to say I was expecting second rate cheap actors in this one, but to my surprise we get a solid cast. Including Nichole Hiltz as Norma, she gave a surprisingly believable performance that I rather enjoyed. Gore, this movie had some of the most inventive creative death scenes that I have ever seen. We get impalements, body's being cut in half, decapitations, bloody gunshots, spikes through the stomach, someone being skinned alive, someone being deep fried, arm sawed off, guts, and quite a bit more, I was very happy with the amount of blood in this one. Now like I said this movie is a full on horror comedy, but it's not stupid. The comedy in this one is real and you will laugh. As for directing, I have to give Goldmann his props this film could have been made to look very cheap very easily but with sharp film angels it looked rather expensive. Bottom line, Trailer Park of terror is a fun comic book to movie adaptation that I enjoyed completely. You get really good acting, fantastic gore, an all original plot, and some fun comedy. If you are looking for a hardcore horror flick skip this one, but if you were a fan of the comic books, and Tales from the Crypt check this one out sure not to disappoint.

Scream (1996,  R)
Scream
Scream is one of my favorite Wes Craven films. It might look like just another cheap slasher movie but Scream is all original. Plot is pretty basic a serial killer targetting teens. But somehow the simple white ghost mask is petrifing. Gore wise this movie thrives more on suspense but the mild gore is very well done. Acting was great. And the cinima photgraphy that Wes used was perfect. I would say that if you have not yet go and check this one out now!!

Dog Soldiers (2002,  R)
Dog Soldiers
As far as werewolf movies go, I don't think that you get much better than this. So the movie in based around a group of British soldiers in Scotland that get a lot more than they bargained for when they are sent on a training mission. Being hunted by a group of blood hungry werewolves that don't particularly care for the unexpected guests. Now I know it may sound a bit done but believe me, Neil Marshall found a way to turn the werewolf sub genre on its head. Starting with acting, you get solid performances from the lead cast, and one surprisingly wonderful performance from Emma Cleasby. Gore, GET THE UNRATED ADITION, trust me anything else and you won?t get the full ride, I repeat UNRATED. You get it all in this, Wolves eating humans, wolf stabbings, guts being cut out, an impalement, heads being blown up, and a lot more. Soundtrack, total score, you get great music that goes perfectly with the scenes taking place. I praise Neil Marshall for finally giving horror fans an up to date all original gut wrenching werewolf movie, I mean it was about time. His directing was phenomenal and he made it obvious in this one just how comfortable he is behind the camera. I also love the humor in it, now don't get me wrong this is not a horror comedy but there are some funny scenes that are worked in perfectly, that just add to the movie. Bottom line, Dog soldiers is one of the best werewolf movies to come along in a long time you get great acting, a whole hell of a lot of gore, and Neil Marshall as the director, ask yourself is there anything better? I think not. If you haven't already, get up and go get this one, Check it out.

Lake Dead (2007,  R)
Lake Dead
I was naive in what I was expecting with the second After Dark Horrorfest, see I thought it would be just as good as the original maybe even better, but instead we get stuck with movies like this. Ok, so the movie is based around two sisters who find out that their grandfather has died and left them a motel/ camping site. They decide to go check the place out with a group of friends, only to discover that there is a very specific reason why they never were told about their grandparents. I'm not sure really were to start with this movie there was just so much bad. Taking after many before it, Lake Dead is a want to be Wrong Turn. Combing red neck families, cannibalism, and insist to make something not disturbing, not funny, not enjoyable, just stupid. Gore, you get one memorable metal bar through the foot scene, a bloody headshot, some fingers being torn off, and a little bit of blood spatter, I was expecting a lot more. Acting, I don't actually think that you can call this acting. I mean really all these people did was drink, screw, and run around screaming like idiots, which I'm sure wasn't a new task for them. All and all, wretched just wretched. Soundtrack, to be honest I don't even remember there being one. Either there actually wasn't or it was just that bad, either way nothing good here. Here's what gets me about this movie, I really think the makers set out to make a good movie, and actually might have been pleased with the finally outcome. And this is just my opinion here, but with that kind of poor judgment there is no wonder why this movie was as bad as it was. The only thing that was remotely enjoyable about this was the visuals; it was not bad to look at. Needless to say, you will be watching a bunch of mind numbing nonsense, but it will be nice looking mind numbing nonsense. Bottom line, no matter who you got behind the camera or who you put in front of it lake Dead was destined to suck, because it just has a bad plot. There is no character intrigue no background story, no nothing, and any which way you turn it that is all this movie will ever be, nothing. I say skip it.

One Missed Call (2008,  PG-13)
One Missed Call
I am not one of those people who are totally against Hollywood movies, I mean just because a movie goes big at the box office doesn't make it a bad flick or not a "true" horror film. But while I like a good Hollywood made horror movie I think it's more than safe to say that this movie is not Hollywood, not horror, and just plain not good. One Missed Call is a remake of a Japanese horror film called One Missed Call coincidently, that is a rip off of another Japanese horror film, I mean really? So the plot is pretty simple a group of friends start getting these phone messages were they hear themselves die. Well like all good horror movie heroines the lead character Beth has to solve the mystery behind the strange phone calls before she's the next victim. Now I'm not going to lie, I like the whole killer technology sub genre in the making. So I do find the plot rather creepy and probably could have enjoyed the movie, but sadly the synopsis was the only good thing about this movie, and combine that with bad acting, gore, effects, directing, soundtrack, ending, and point, it just couldn't hold the film. Acting, these kids couldn't act to save their soul. I mean the makers of the film must have spent literally two cents on actors, and that would be over paying them. Gore, this movie went in the rout of many, many remakes and did the PG-13 thing. Now I loved the Ring, so I am a fan of PG-13 horror flicks that don't need gore to keep the viewer intrigued, but this movie was not one of those films. While yes gore alone wouldn't have been enough to save this wretched excuse for a film, it still would have been a bit nice. Anyway all you get in this one is CGI that a high school student could do better, a bloodless impalement, and some implied gore. Directing, Vallette couldn't win for loosing with this one. I mean honestly I think this movie was doomed. The original was directed by the brilliant Takashi Mikke who has given us classics like OldBoy, and Audition, and even he couldn't make it work. Cheap scares is what this is all about, Vallette counted on cheap make you jump moments that might have worked if there was any tension, but there wasn't so basically he came off looking like a fool. Soundtrack, Ugh ok the cell phone jingle or whatever you call it might be creepy the first two maybe three times you hear it, but after that it becomes so annoying, with that ice cream truck song that makes you want to slit your wrists. Other than that no so bad, but nothing really note worthy or new. That's one major thing that you will hate about this movie there is nothing new. Everything that you see has been done a million times by directors who new what they were doing. Also I know it's not actually a part of the movie, but what about that poster. Really can it get any more cheap and tacky than that? What's really crazy is I think the people who made it thought they were being new and inventive. Well while that is probably true here's some news, sometimes new and inventive isn't always a good thing. Another thing is how forgettable this movie is. I had to watch it again before writing a review just to remember half of it. Bottom Line, all that the second remake of One Missed Call is, is a mess of people who don't know what they are doing and a sad excuse for a horror movie. This one is just not worth the time, I say skip it.
