i don't care what anyone thinks - the best of the sequels - period! scary. very dark. in terms of pure intensity (not gore), it has one of the most brutal slasher scenes (the strobe light effect intensifies it). a love it or hate it horror film. i love it!
i was one of those people totally stoked to go and see this. i'm a fan of his music, and i liked his other films. i'm also a huge fan of the halloween series (for the most part). while not a bad horror film, it didn't live up to my expectations. maybe they were too high. maybe i'm just too much of a purist when it comes to the original. if he had extended the third act (essentially, the remake of the original), it could have been more cohesive. that's just my perspective. i didn't hate it, he just shouldn't have tried to cram the original (remade) into the third act.
after 2, most hellraiser sequels (and it really pains me to say this) suck! but this was a good one! it's about "the lament configuration" (the puzzle box), and its origins, and of the bloodline tied to it. the outer space parts of it are, well... don't let that diminish you from watching it. good movie!
an interesting take on what angels are "really like", and about a second, hidden war being unleashed on heaven. christopher walken plays "gabriel" - the angel of death. towards the end, lucifer shows up, played by none other than viggo mortensen. he definitely gives the character a creepy feel. i highly enjoyed it!
love it or hate it, i don't care! i love this movie! (just for the record, jason is NOT the killer in this one). this one's about revenge (pertaing to the afore mentioned jason). one of the best slasher films.
another favorite. while the rest went downhill (but remained entertaining, except "jason x" - don't even get me started), they still kept up on the thrill of the first. it is truly a love it or hate it!
another peter jackson classic! a nice blend of horror and comedy. losts of good performances, but jeffrey combs stands out as the loony f.b.i agent. and r. lee ermey's character? an unexpected sight, but that is definitely a good thing - especially considering how off-beat this movie is.
ah. the david cronenberg classic! a long time since i've watched, but i do remember liking it a lot. and david cronenberg has never disappointed me when it comes to movies he directs!
to my knowledge, the first david cronenberg film i ever saw. a pretty intense movie about "scanners" - people with very powerful mental abilities. micheal ironside plays a very good villain in this movie. if you like david cronenberg's movies, then i suggest you watch this!
