Very bizzare and unexplainable

An American Haunting (2006,  PG-13)
An American Haunting
OK, before I saw this movie, I thought "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" was the worst film ever, but that has all changed.
THIS IS THE WORST MOVIE EVER! This mess just has EVERYTHING a bad movie could ask for; bad script, bad acting, bad cinematography. I thought this was going to be REALLY scary, but I guess I was wrong. Even the fact that this is based on a true story doesn't even scare me!
This was 90 minutes of my life I'll NEVER get back! Please do me a favor and don't go through the pain and suffering I went when I saw this dumb movie! :-(
3
The Amityville Horror (2005,  R)
The Amityville Horror
I saw this movie with my mom (come on, it's an R-rated film. Who do you think I'm gonna watch it with) and it was so lame. I was TRYING to keep myself awake while my mom was drooling over Ryan Reynolds (she's a BIG fan). Why are remakes disappointing? WHY?
4
Bless the Child (2000,  R)
Bless the Child
I honestly don't know where to start with this movie. This movie was so complex, yet so special and meaningful.
As a Christian, I must say that this movie was very powerful to watch and extremely gripping at times.
I know that critics hated this movie when it came out and that really confuses me. Why do they hate this movie so much? I just don't get it. It really makes me upset, because this is now a favorite for me and it just makes me angry (not usually I don't get angry as much).
This film had its 'scary moments', but besides that; its not a horror film.
I really liked this movie, because of its messages and, I know I already said this, but this is very powerful and if you can't see that, then you must be blind.

This is a must-see for everybody. It makes you think and it has a very good ending to it. I really liked it and I don't have anything bad to say about it.

The Box (2009,  PG-13)
The Box
Plot: Norma and Arthur Lewis, a suburban couple with a young child, receive a simple wooden box as a gift, which bears fatal and irrevocable consequences. A mysterious stranger, delivers the message that the box promises to bestow upon its owner $1 million with the press of a button. But, pressing this button will simultaneously cause the death of another human being somewhere in the world; someone they don't know. With just 24 hours to have the box in their possession, Norma and Arthur find themselves in the cross-hairs of a startling moral dilemma and must face the true nature of their humanity.
Starring: James Marsden, Cameron Diaz, Frank Langella, James Rebhorn, Michele Durrett, Gillian Jacobs

OK, I have to admit. This movie is strange and very weird, but I love it for what it is; a psychological thriller/drama/suspense that shows us an unexplained dimension while it teaches us that greed is very bad. Many people didn't understand the message, because it is a complex movie, but I enjoyed it A LOT. I really love the whole cast. They did a good job with the acting.
This movie is not for everyone, but I would give it a second watch.
6
Bride of Chucky (1998,  R)
Bride of Chucky
This is my very first time of rating a movie zero stars, because it really is that bad!

I competely take back what I said about 'An American Haunting'. THIS IS THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE!!!!!
First of all, I wanted to avoid this movie as much as possible. It was on my 'Movies I NEVER Want to See' list, but I don't know what happened. It was 3 o'clock in the morning and my mom and I wanted to watch TV so we watched this. At first, I thought it was so stupid that it was awesome, but then it got ANNOYING! I just wanted to throw the TV out of the window, but there was nothing else on. I don't even know what I did to deserve watching this piece of trash. It probably might have been Karma, or a punishment from God, or something. Did I do something terrible and got this in return? I don't know, but I got what I deserved.
There were some incredibly odd stuff in the movie that just made me roll my eyes; like Chucky and Tiffany saying 'What would Martha Stewart do?' eveytime they were caught in a bad situation, Tiffany giving birth to a man-eating baby doll at the end, and the doll sex. Ugh, I just wanted to knock myself in the head 'til I had no memory of seeing this.

For all the people who liked "Bride of Chucky', watch a REAL horror film! I don't want you guys to waste your precious time watching bad stuff like this.
I wouldn't recommend this movie to anyone; not even my worst enemy! That's how much I hate this garbage!
SKIP-IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cloverfield (2008,  PG-13)
Cloverfield
I couldn't sleep at night after I saw this movie. It's a perfect cross between 'Godzilla' and '28 Days Later'. I just LOVE it!!!!!!! It's bloody, disgusting FUN!
MUST-SEE!!!!!
8
Cursed (2004,  PG-13)
Cursed
I've only seen about 20 minutes of this film. It was just bizarre!
9
Dark Water (2005,  PG-13)
Dark Water
This movie didn't scare me, but I liked it anyway!
10
Disturbing Behavior (1998,  R)
Disturbing Behavior
OMG, this has to be by far the weirdest movie I have ever seen... and yet another reason why I like 90's horror films; they have that uniqueness that other horror films don't have.

I'm IN LOVE with James Marsden and he was perfect as the 'prettyboy' in the movie. I didn't think Katie Holmes could pull it off as the punk girl, but she proved me wrong. After all, she is one of my favorite actresses.
I would avise anyone to see this movie, because it will look stupid at first, but then you start to realize how original and smart it is and you just can't take your eyes off of it. This off-beat, special movie is so not what I thought it would be.

Must-see!!!!
11
Drag Me to Hell (2009,  PG-13)
Drag Me to Hell
I sort of have mixed feelings about this movie, but overall I give it a thumbs up. I like how they combined both the horror and comedy genre to make a very smart movie.
I really like the twist ending. I never saw what was coming.

There were some gross moments in the movie; squirting eyeballs, old ladies puking, just to name a few (not the kind of movie to watch if you have a weak stomach).
It felt like new generation version of 'Beetlejuice' to me for some reason, but it was kind of cool.

Very dissapointing. Jessica Alba's acting was SO bad and unbelievable. This film just fell flat! :-(
13
Final Destination (2000,  R)
Final Destination
This movie was SO lame that I couldn't even finish the rest of it.
14
The Fourth Kind (2009,  PG-13)
The Fourth Kind
Plot: Fact-based thriller involving an ongoing unsolved mystery in Alaska, where one town has seen an extraordinary number of unexplained disappearances during the past 40 years and there are accusations of a federal cover up.
Starring: Milla Jovovich, Alisha Seaton, Will Patton, Corey Johnson, Daphne Alexander, Elisa Koteas, Enzo Cilienti, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Mia McKenna-Bruce

Wow, watching this was the best cinematic experience I've ever had. I jumped out of my seat so many times and the movie looked like one of those Discovery Channel documentaries. I loved how it starts off; seeing Milla Jovovich (as herself) explaining what the movie is about and who her character is. After she's done explaining she later says, "What you are about to see is extremely disturbing." Milla warned me and tons of other viewers. This scared the living [insert profanity here] out of me. I left the theater shaken up and I now take back about everything I ever said about UFO believers being freaks. I think they might be telling the truth. Maybe aliens DO exist, but you never know.
Don't see this movie alone, trust me. I didn't sit next to anyone when I saw this and it made my cinematic viewing more frightening.
15
Ghost Image (2007,  Unrated)
Ghost Image
This movie could have been a lot worse. It's not that well known, but they have it on Showtime a lot so you be able to see this movie.
It seemed so much like 'White Noise' a little bit and it's a mystery/suspense than a horror film. There was nothing scary about it so the 'easily-frightened' can watch this.
It was well-written, but the acting was mediorce, like most low-budget films.

It's an OK film, but I don't think I'll give it a second watch.
16
The Grudge (2004,  PG-13)
17
The Grudge 2 (2006,  PG-13)
The Grudge 2
I just DON'T get it! It looks SO scary in the trailer, but when U see the actual movie, it's just dissapointing. It doesn't live up to its expectations.
18
The Happening (2008,  R)
The Happening
I can understand why people hated this movie, but I kind of enjoyed it. It was very suspensful at times and flat-out stupid at other times and sometimes too frightening to watch.
My mom and I wouldn't stop laughing to how bad Mark Wahlberg's acting was. I thought Zooey Decshanel was pretty good, considering she's one of my favorite actresses.

This is one of those movies that I like, but everybody else hates. I think it's a perfect 'movie night' film while it was nominated for 'Worst Movie' at the 2008 Razzies (think of it as the opposite of the Oscars).
Overall, most people will think it's trash while a few people like me can actually see the excitement in this movie.
19
The Haunting (1999,  PG-13)
The Haunting
To be completely honest, I had fun with this movie than any other horror film I've seen. Well, it's not really a horror film; it's more of a suspense film. The effects looked like something from a 1970's fantasy movie, but I loved the storyline and the dialouge. I think I'm beggining to really appreciate remakes for the first time :-) Sure it does have its boring moments, but it also had entertaining moments to balance it.
Also, I don't care what people think about this movie. They might think it's dumb, but I seemed to enjoy it (kind of like 'The Happening'. I liked it, but everyone else didn't).
The whole cast was wonderful in this good remake. I loved Catherine Zeta-Jone's wardrobe in the film and I couldn't get over to how young Owen Wilson looked and, well, I couldn't stop drooling over Liam Neeson (feel free to arrest me for falling in love LOL)! I just LOVE him! I love his movies, I love his acting, and I love his good looks. Call me obsessed ;-)
Also for some weird reason, the movie kind of reminded me of 'Casper'. I don't know why, but it just did. It's a mystery.

In conclusion, this is an 'undiscovered gem' that I will treasure and everyone else won't. You kind of have to be in a right mood to watch this film and absorb eveything in order to like it, but if you're not quite as picky, you'll like it! Just give it a chance.
20
The Haunting in Connecticut (2009,  PG-13)
The Haunting in Connecticut
Super FREAKY!!! Considering the fact that it's based on a true story makes it even scarier!
21
The Haunting of Molly Hartley (2008,  PG-13)
The Haunting of Molly Hartley
It's an okay film, but the ending is so confusing. (SPOILER ALERT! Don't read the rest of the review if you want to see this movie!) The girl tries to kill herself, but she can't and then it cuts to her graduation ceremony and then the credits roll. I just didn't get it. I while I watch the credits roll, I was just saying, "WTF, Why did it have to end this way?"

Let me tell you this. . .
If they ever make a sequel, they better have a understandable ending, or else I want my money back (LOL)!
22
Hide and Seek (2005,  R)
Hide and Seek
There's simply one word to describe this movie; messed-up.
This left me slightly disappointed. I thought this was gonna be scary, but this was too confusing and there was so many twists and turns to the plot that I could hardly understand it.
I like Dakota Fanning and I grew up with most of her movies and she did a good job with the acting, but that was probably the only few good qualities of this film. Otherwise that, it seemed like it tried to be the next 'Sixth Sense', but sort of failed.

This movie felt more like a watered down horror film gone wrong.

If you wanna see a really good psychological thriller, I wouldn't recommend this one to people.

Maximum Overdrive (1986,  R)
Maximum Overdrive
I will never figure out this movie. It's so WEIRD!
24
The Messengers (2007,  PG-13)
The Messengers
Scariest. Movie. EVER!!
25
One Missed Call (2008,  PG-13)
One Missed Call
This would make a GREAT mystery/suspense film, but it lacks in horror.
It's not as stupid as people say it is, but it wasn't that great of a movie.
26
Orphan (2009,  R)
Orphan
Plot: A husband and wife who recently lost their baby adopt a 9-year-old girl who is not nearly as innocent as she claims to be.
Starring: Vera Farmiga, Pater Sarsgaard, Isabelle Fuhrman

WOW! If only horror films were made like this. I loved the twist ending at the end. I never saw what was coming. Probably one of the best horror films ever made about an evil kid.
Kudos to Isabelle Fuhrman (Esther)! She did an awesome job with playing a villian. I expect her to be very succesful in the Hollywood business.

I don't really like old movies that much!
29
Pulse (2006,  PG-13)

Quarantine (2008,  R)
Quarantine
It was kind of boring to be honest, but it did scare me a little bit. It was kind of like 'Cloverfield' with the whole theme of shooting everything on a single camera, but I know that it's based on the Spanish horror film '[Rec]', which I really wanna see, but overall it's pretty decent. I guess horror movies don't scare me as much as they used to.
31
The Return (2006,  PG-13)
32
The Ring (2002,  PG-13)
The Ring
One of the best horror/suspense films I have seen. After I saw this movie, I started to get weird and freaky dreams about this movie so it REALLY lingers with U! A MUST-SEE 4 HORROR FILM LOVERS!
33
Scream (1996,  R)
Scream
OK, I admit. I'm not a huge Wes Craven fan. Most of his horror films I've seen were lame; "Cursed" and don't get me started on "They". Before I saw "Scream", the only Wes Craven film I liked was "Red Eye", but that's not a horror film and the extremely hot Cillian Murphy was in it, which made me like it more. I doubted this movie saying it would just be like those other slasher films where you see what the hype is all about so you watch it and end up laughing hysterically thinking, "Who would watch this trash?", but I was DEAD WRONG!
Before I saw this movie, "The Messengers" was my favorite horror film, because it was the scariest, but I saw that movie during a phase in my life where ANYTHING could scare me. I've seen many horror films since then nothing has scared me. I've been HOPING to at least see a movie that would make me have trouble sleeping and FINALLY! A movie that was both scary and entertaining. Most horror films I've seen were just entertaining, but not scary.

You first get drawn in by the beginning; seeing a young Drew Barrymore enjoying her night making popcorn and is just about to watch a horror film. Suddenly the phone rings. Who could it be? She picks it up and says, "Hello" just like everybody else would do when they pick up the phone. She's a little bit startled by the creepy voice that's on the other end of the line, but she kindly gets along with the 'stranger'. He calls again saying that he apologizes for 'dialing the wrong number'. Now it gets serious. He won't stop calling and then he makes Drew's character (who's name I can't remember, but I bet you it will come to me the second I'm done typing this review) to 'play a game'. What game? A little movie trivia: "Who was the killer in 'Friday the 13th'?" "Jason!" "WRONG! (when you thought you had the answer)" and you know what happens when you get the wrong answer. The minute you see her dead body hung from a tree, you get that gut feeling inside you thinking that this could happen to you. That's probably why you see it hilariously spoofed by many people. I think that's how "Scary Movie" got its success.
I simply liked how they made fun of horror films, because every five minutes they mentioned plots from previous 'splatter-fests' and talked about famous stereotypes in scary movies. There's a small part where Sidney (Neve Campbell) says to the killer (who seems to always ask his victims on the phone if they like horror films) that scary movies are nothing but 'killers attacking big-breasted women that can't act who end up running upstairs when they should have gone out the front door.' They even mentioned three things you can't do in horror films:
1. You can't have sex
2. You can't drink or do drugs
3. You can't say "I'll be right back", because you won't.
They simply broke all three rules and they pushed the boundaries a little bit which made us enjoy it a little bit more. The killer even said in the film, "Scary movies don't create psycho killers. They made psycho killers create new ideas."
They always expect one person to another of being the psycho killer and that really helps with the process of making you guess who the killer is. Think of it as "Clue" but bloodier, scarier, and funnier (I'm using that word loosely because I simply don't want you to think that this movie is just a comedy that is trying to blossom into a scary movie, but fails. It's NOT that kind of movie!) When you kind of who the real killer is, you have that urge inside of you to never trust anyone ever again.
It had me pinned to my seat from start to finish. After the movie was over, I turned on all the lights in my house and I couldn't help but glance at the phone trying to convince myself, "IT'S ONLY A MOVIE!" I even tried to sleep with my eyes open and I think that is a little bit impossible. I don't get scared at much as I used to with horror films. I think that's why I found "The Grudge", "1408", and "Psycho" to be 'snore-fests' (sorry). I don't freak out like other people do. I know someone who slept with a knife after seeing this movie (we always have a thought in the back of our head that the horror film we just watched might happen to us in real life, don't we?)
I bet you 20 years from now when people my age are in their mid-30's and have kids of their own, some major motion picture studio will tempt to film a remake of it and when the new generation sees it, they will enjoy it while our generation will be disappointed thinking that the original will always rock hard and the remake doesn't. Again, this is my prediction. This doesn't mean it will come true, 'cause I'm no psychic.

Overall, this is a VERY good horror film that rarely comes around and when it does, no one will even try to THINK of remaking a potential classic and those who dare to will get a mean reaction from its die hard fans. It's perfect for a 'Movie Night' and any night!
This movie has 'instant classic' written ALL OVER IT! It's now my favorite horror film.
MUST-SEE!

Scream 2 (1997,  R)
Scream 2
I remember seeing a little bit of this movie a couple months ago and it kind of bored me, but after seeing the first 'Scream' movie, I gave this a second watch. I absolutely LOVED it! I take back what I said about it earlier and once I'm done typing up this review, I'm gonna fix up my 'Scream' review and erase the part where I say that the sequel sucked, because it didn't. It's not as good as the first 'Scream', but still awesome.
35
Scream 3 (2000,  R)
Scream 3
Loved it! My favorite 'Scream' movie :-) I can't for the fourth installment!
36
Sea of Fear (2005,  PG-13)
Sea of Fear
I saw this movie with absolutely NO knowledge of it and it just turned out to be another low-budget horror film that leaves you disappointed.
The acting was mediocre; casting a big bunch of actors I've never heard of. Some were good and some were bad.
This was the most WATERED DOWN horror film I've ever seen. The 'blood' that was used (which was hardly any) looked so fake and the movie couldn't find its own identity. First it's a horror film then it's something else then it's back to a horror film and it goes back and forth. The ending was just weird. Not scary, but weird.
I'm pretty sure you've never heard of this movie and it's best if you don't. Please don't waste your free time watching this, 'cause U'll regret it.
AVOID this as much as possible!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
37
The Shining (1980,  R)
The Shining
After seeing 'Maximum Overdrive' and '1408', I thought I would never enjoy another horror film based on a Stephen king novel, but 'The Shining' proved me wrong. This was by far the weirdest movie I've ever seen. It was freaky, but not as freaky as people say it is. It's definitely in my Top 10. The ending kind of confused though. I still have questions about the plot that need to be answered, but anway 'The Shining' is one of the best horror films of all time!
MUST-SEE!
38
Shutter (2008,  PG-13)
39
Slither (2006,  R)
Slither
Eew! This movie was GROSS! I only saw the first 20 minutes of it.
40
Splinter (2008,  R)
Splinter
FINALLY, a horror film where the characters know what they're doing. Most horror films I've seen, the characters just stood there screaming at the top of their lungs when something terrifying was going on, but that's not what happened in this. I just simply LOVED it!
SEE-IT!
41
The Strangers (2008,  R)
The Strangers
I'm surprised my mom let me watch this! This is one of the most bloodiest movies I've seen!
I can't really say I liked it, because one of my Flixster friends will never forgive me (she is VERY ANGRY at the movie and she wants everyone who liked to suffer pain and... just read her review).

It was predictable at times and I liked the masks that the killers wore. I also liked the main characters, but they made stupid mistakes during the movie. They just stood there just screaming their heads off when they should have been calling the police. They had brains, but they didn't know how to use them.

The acting was pretty convincing. Not usually what you get from a horror film.

The ending was pretty creepy and weird. It ends to a spot where you there's a potential for a sequel.

Overall, it was a decent film and kind of creepy, but again I can't say I liked it, because I don't want to upset my Flixster friend.

Swimfan (2002,  PG-13)

Dumb. Dumb. DUMB!
43
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974,  R)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
I'm pretty sure this movie is based on a true story so it really scared me that this killer had an really unhealthy obsession with killing people and it also showed me how dumb people were back then. They'd pick up hitch hikers and go into houses that people they don't know live in.
It's not as bloody as I thought it would be, but I think it was suppose to be scary in a psychological and disturbing way; not in a gory way.
SEE-IT!

The Uninvited
I know A LOT of people who actually enjoyed this movie, but how come I didn't? Is there something wrong with me?
45
Urban Legend (1998,  R)
Urban Legend
As good as 'Scream', but not as scary. I liked how put a lot of urban legends into the plot and it made me keep guessing who the killer is. Oh, and speaking of the killer, when will he/she ever die (Go see the movie to find out what I'm talking about)!

Urban Legends: Final Cut (2000,  R)
Urban Legends: Final Cut
