The Awakening (The Wakening) (1980,  R)
2
The Hand (1981,  R)
3
Cat People (1982,  R)
Cat People
Mired in sexual frustration and spiritual repression, this remake of the Val Lewton classic relocates the story of a young woman burdened by an ancient curse from the Big Apple to the Big Easy.
4
The Bride (1985,  PG-13)
5
The Fly (1986,  R)
6
Night of the Living Dead (1990,  R)
Night of the Living Dead
This remake of George A. Romero's 1968 classic zombie chiller is much better with colour and effects than the original.
7
Asylum (1997,  R)
8
Psycho (1998,  R)
Psycho
This remake of a classic Hitchcock movie is average, but very familiar scenes to the 1960 version and few lack of creepy. Did they honestly think Vince Vaughn was going to be as good or better than Anthony Perkins? No way. Anne Heche, with her short mannish-haircut, is going to be better than Janet Leigh? I don't think so!
9
The Haunting (1999,  PG-13)
The Haunting
Forgot Robert Wise's classic film and Shirley Jackson's gripping, original story - both of which allowed the viewer to imagine the terror - and you may get a few thrills out of this blatant, special-effects-laden scarefest.
10
House on Haunted Hill (1999,  R)
House on Haunted Hill
Even with its high-tech special effects, this remake of the 1958 William Castle film is tackier than the original.
11
Thirteen Ghosts (13 Ghosts) (2001,  R)
Thirteen Ghosts (13 Ghosts)
This horror story makes no sense whatsoever, and the gory spectres in the haunted house are so scary by killing all its human inhabitants.
12
The Ring (2002,  PG-13)
The Ring
Excellent stylish and creepy thriller, with subtle suspense and some genuine scares based on the Japanese film, Ringu.
13
Willard (2003,  PG-13)
14
Toolbox Murders (2004,  R)
15
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003,  R)
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
This slick and grisly remake of Tobe Hooper's nightmarish 1974 horror classic turned out to be one of the best horror film of 2003. I feel so thankful to see Jessica Biel finally survived and escaped away from the freak family killers.
16
Dawn of the Dead (2004,  R)
Dawn of the Dead
This is the best zombies film of the year - excellent make-ups that make them look real.
17
The Grudge (2004,  PG-13)
The Grudge
More scarier since USA's remake "The Ring".
18
The Ring Two (2005,  PG-13)
The Ring Two
There are enough spooky moments to keep you watching this film, but slight, sequel.
19
The Amityville Horror (2005,  R)
The Amityville Horror
This remake of 1979 horror classic is getting much shocker with tortured ghosts and paranormal oozing - is a sure-fire case of the creepy-crawlies. Believe it or not if this horror film is possiblity based on a true story with the real-life characters? Ryan Reynolds makes an impressively menacing.
20
House of Wax (2005,  R)
House of Wax
Really frightened, creepy and very waxy.
21
2001 Maniacs (2005,  R)
22
Dark Water (2005,  PG-13)
Dark Water
This 2004 Japanese version remake scary film is good with fine performances, a menacing atmospher, and knuckle-biting suspense.
23
The Fog (2005,  PG-13)
The Fog
1980's remake ghostly thriller was okay.
24
The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (2005,  Unrated)
25
The Hills Have Eyes (2006,  R)
The Hills Have Eyes
What a horror and really freaky remake movie I ever saw. I haven't seen the original one yet, but not interested.
26
When a Stranger Calls (2006,  PG-13)
When a Stranger Calls
It was quite okay, but a bit thriller at the end of scene.
27
The Omen (2006,  R)
The Omen
This remake horror film was alike the version between "End of Days" and "Final Destination 3". Looked more terrifying and I haven't seen the original one yet, that's the truth.
28
The Grudge 2 (2006,  PG-13)
The Grudge 2
This sequel horror remake of 2003 Japanese film is more creepy and spooky where The Rage has been released around the world. But I like the original film the best. I should have wished Sarah Michelle Gellar stay alive in this sequel.
29
Night of the Living Dead 3D (2006,  R)
30
Pulse (2006,  PG-13)
Pulse
Another US version remake from Japanese's 2005 horror film. Good scary and has loads with terrifying thrills and gruesome special effects.
31
Black Christmas (2006,  R)
32
The Hills Have Eyes II (The Hills Have Eyes 2) (2007,  R)
The Hills Have Eyes II (The Hills Have Eyes 2)
Bloody sicko, terrible and scary of these freak mutants who are tracking a group of National Guard trainees in the desert. I always let out a groan of disappointment when a sequel replaces civilian characters with the military. Soldiers are always so lazily written and never fail to thoroughly bore with crude caricatures of strutting macho bullshit.
Needless to say, every character is a broad and generic cliché. They act in dumb and illogical ways, making dumb and illogical decisions that lead them to predictably dumb and illogical deaths.
33
Halloween (2007,  R)
Halloween
This remake horror film is very different to the original one because it interested me to know the full story of Michael Myers when he was a kid just before and after he killed his family except his mother and little sister on Halloween Day and how he became mad as evil. Tyler Mane is brilliant as the masked serial killer.
34
One Missed Call (2008,  PG-13)
One Missed Call
Familiar to The Ring of a scary and spooky mysterious girl who sends the voicemail messages onto the college students during their last moments alive. At the final scene was the shockest one I ever saw.
35
The Eye (2008,  PG-13)
The Eye
Awesome supernatural remake from 2002 Hong Kong horror film which is a tradition of The Sixth Sense meets Final Destination. Jessica Alba makes a fantastic performance as a young blind woman who, after undergoing experimental surgery to regain her sight, seeing freakish visions. Some scenes are so scary of what Alba sees in her vision.
36
Prom Night (2008,  PG-13)
Prom Night
Average of the 1980's horror remake as well as it didn't fright me much enough - YAWN! - looked so pathetic.
37
Shutter (2008,  PG-13)
Shutter
This was a surprisingly good, old fashioned ghost story in remake of 2004 Thailand film.
I haven't seen the original yet. The cast is very good if somewhat underutilized, the photography and musical scoring are excellent, and there's a plot twist that caught me completely by surprise.
Most of the ghostly horror is more suggested than overt, with images appearing in photographs and just out of direct sight. Most of the set pieces from the original are here, but several of the most startling and effective moments of horror are missing. The unfortunate MA-15+ rating keeps everything in check, so, while compelling, the horror is fairly muted. The final twist takes the story in a very different direction and is quite startling. But, like another reviewer wrote, leaves you feeling justice has been done.
Not a great film, but very watchable and satisfying.

Day of the Dead (2008,  R)
Day of the Dead
I don't care if this re-imagined of George A. Romero's zombie classic is "disappointment", but I liked it at the first time I ever saw zombies has new incredible abilities and heroine Mena Suvari in action.
While the gore isn't as good or as extensive as Romero's film there's a fair amount of blood, decapitated heads, rotting zombies, gory bites, a few severed limbs & mutilated bodies on show. The special effects vary from good prosthetic make-up effects to poor CGI computer ones. Day of the Dead goes for action set-pieces rather than scares, tension & atmosphere which won't please lovers of the original but there you go.
39
Mirrors (2008,  R)
Mirrors
Really shocker and scarier movie of the 'killer mirrors' in which Kiefer Sutherland was going on the against and he was great as a part of CV by doing investigation on what happened to the past security cops at the burned-out New York department store.
40
Quarantine (2008,  R)
Quarantine
What a brutal terrifying experience like 28 Days Later. This is the best horror film in the tradition of spine-tingling creep-fests since Cloverfield and The Blair Witch Project.
41
The Uninvited (2009,  PG-13)
42
My Bloody Valentine 3-D (2009,  R)
My Bloody Valentine 3-D
This 3-D horror remake delivers a non-stop parade of amusing horrors. That gave me alot of incredible shocking of gore and nudity from wearing a 3-D glasses, I enjoyed it so much. At the begin is amazing than at the final. To be honest, I haven't seen the 1981 original yet, but the story is little different from the remake while I was reading the review.
43
Friday the 13th (2009,  R)
Friday the 13th
This re-imagining of the 1980 slasher classic of horror legend Jason Voorhees is so good as scary as what I could see the character Voorhees's moving is more quick as a cat-like than the original Friday the 13th series. Rather, he simply dumps an impressively repellent bunch of nubile teen morons at Crystal Lake and then wastes our time with a vicious and offensive (in all senses of the word) murder marathon.
44
The Last House on the Left (2009,  R)
The Last House on the Left
This Wes Craven's 1972 shocker remake brings less shocked with violence between the gang and one of their victims' parents. Rising star Garret Dillahunt is brilliantly fear-povoking as the villianous Krug and young Sara Paxton is unforgettable in a brave performance for a young actress, as one of the film's tragically scarred victims.
Greek director Dennis Iliadis and a good cast do what they can, but the film never escapes its own pointlessness. The abuse and gore are mild compared with the old movie or recent Hostel-style fare, and the camera's ogling of teenage girls is circumscribed by the fact that only the adult psycho bitch (Riki Lindhome) does nudity. It fills in the shock gap with too many thwarted escape attempts or hokey in-the-knowisms.
45
Sorority Row (2009,  R)
46
The Stepfather (2009,  PG-13)
47
Night of the Demons (2010,  Unrated)
48
The Wolfman (2010,  Unrated)
49
