Bridget Jones - The Edge of Reason (2004,  R)
Bridget Jones - The Edge of Reason
She is just so me
2
Bridget Jones's Diary (2001,  R)
Bridget Jones's Diary
the story of my life
3
Das Boot (The Boat) (1981,  R)
4
Shakespeare in Love (1998,  R)
Shakespeare in Love
I think even Shakespeare would enjoy this parody of his life. A great role for Joseph Fiennes who is so often backrow to his brother. I hope we see more of him again soon.
5
Sunshine (2000,  R)
Sunshine
A stunningly interesting film starrring an outstanding Ralph Fiennes. He is perfect for the parts (yes plural) that he plays here and I cannot imagine anyone else in this role. In spite of it being a 3 hour film the first hour is far too fast-moving and for those who know nothing about the rise and fall of the Hungarian empire will no doubt get lost and confused. More should have been shown of the Hungary both during and before Emperor Franz-Josef's reign for a better comparison of what it went down to. The political argument is shown only within the Sors family (which family doesn't argue) but when the eye doesn't actually see the differences between pomp and poverty it is difficult to imagine. Falling in and out of love in this film is neither romantic nor erotic so the lovers of those genres won't get enough to satisfy themselves. A remarkable though purely factual film.
6
Jane Eyre (,  Unrated)
Jane Eyre
unfortunatley when I watched this film a year ago it wasn't on flixster. I asked for it to be added but didn't notice until now that it has finally got here. I won the DVD so will watch it again before I write my review.
I remember finidng it to be very true to the original book and loving every minute of it.
7
The English Patient (1996,  R)
The English Patient
highly recommendable. Ralph Fiennes is fantastic. Wasn't quite so impressed first time but that was due to a lot getting lost in the German translation. The original version is fantastically moving.
8
Sense and Sensibility (1995,  PG)
Sense and Sensibility
I even liked Hugh Grant in this one and that doesn't happen often
9
Love Actually (2003,  R)
Love Actually
Love actually ... is all around.
Not just one story but lots of little ones that at the end all fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. An interesting composition. Witty and touching at the same time.
10
Million Dollar Baby (2004,  PG-13)
Million Dollar Baby
This film is just perfect. Words fail me actually
11
Kiss The Girls (1997,  R)
Kiss The Girls
I was somewhat relieved to discover this film isn't quite as terrifying as Silence of the Lambs but it is indeed a great watch. Morgan Freeman is always a good reason to see a film. Ashley Judd was a first for me to my knowledge but a good actress.
12
Donnie Darko (2001,  R)
Donnie Darko
I actually had this film down as "not interested" as I was mislead to believe that it tended towards horror and being of a somewhat nervous disposition (although I do love thrillers) I thought it would be one that I'd be screaming about for days afterwards.

The only thing that thoroughly disturbs me now that I only watched it once and was totally intrigued and understood what I was watching. Does that make me psycho myself?

Having read what binky013 and freakfriend have already written about this film there is not too much more I can add except that if you haven't read their reviews then take a look at them now.

Jake Gyllenhaal is an actor I have heard plenty about but only seen in a couple of films. After this amazing performance I will definitely keep and eye out for him and I think he has proven that he really is an all-round talent showing almost every emotion possible in this one role.

I'm not so sure the foul language was a necessity in a lot of places for which the film loses half a star. It's no wonder if the youth of today constantly use such language if examples are not set in the films they are likely to watch. Prudish? Yes maybe but believe me my parents are worse.
13
The War (1994,  PG-13)
The War
Quite an emotional film showing the consequences war has, not only on the soldier, but on those that are close to the soldier too. A story of hardship.
Elijah Wood proves, at such a young age, what a powerful actor he is. I hope he gets some equally as emotional roles in his adult life and doesn't simply get the stamp as being in LOTR.
A bit of a tear-jerker but well worth the watch.
14
Two Weeks Notice (2002,  PG-13)
Two Weeks Notice
This was actually quite a cute romantic comedy. I know that Hugh Grant always plays the identical role but I'm sure not many people can bring a joke and keep a straight face quite like him.
Recommendable for a light comedy evening.
15
Hart's War (2002,  R)
Hart's War
WWII in a POW camp. In spite of being countrymen, feuds break out when 2 afro-american officers are interned.
Terrence Howard somewhat steals the show from Bruce Willis and Colin Farrell in this one. A great film.
16
Sleeping with the Enemy (1991,  R)
Sleeping with the Enemy
Think this might be the best Julia Roberts film. Full of suspense. Great
17
The Butterfly Effect 2 (2006,  R)
The Butterfly Effect 2
As sequels go, this one wasn't actually too bad. The whole tension of the film is of course taken away if you have seen the first one. Always wanting to make things better for friends and family is the theme - as it is in the first one.
It ends showing that his son has inherited his "powers" so that leaves things open for a third. If they do a third, then maybe they should try saving the world this time instead of relationships.
18
The Butterfly Effect (2004,  R)
The Butterfly Effect
This film includes all the twists I love to find in a psycho thriller. What a brilliant storyline.
Time travel has always been a point of discussion and the outcome is to be found in this film. Not only the one action you might want to change is changed but everything that happens afterwards.
At the end we discover why Evan's father was institutionalised. They both changed the wrong event. By changing the first thing that went wrong Evan no longer had any journals just as his father no longer had his photo albums.
The final change was inevitable though this too would probably have caused many other life-changing events.
A fantastic film for twisted minds.

EDIT: A month or so later I watched this DVD again..... and it had a different ending. Wowww did that freak me out. Until I realised that there are 2 DVDs in the cover and each contains the complete film but... with 2 different endings. Now that really is the coolest thing I've ever experienced. No idea which ending was in the cinemas. I'd like to give it a 6th star for that point alone.
19
Signs (2002,  PG-13)
Signs
I'm not quite sure what I was expecting but it was definitely not as I suspected. Great story, great actors but the scenes were stodgily put together. I'm sure it could have been a fantastic film if someone else had done it. Was a bit of a let down though.
20
Gone in 60 Seconds (Gone in Sixty Seconds) (2000,  PG-13)
21
The End of the Affair (1999,  R)
The End of the Affair
This film gave me far more than I was expecting. A spectacular Ralph Fiennes (did I expect less) in a role most typical for him. I'd love to know if it is his own bum we get to see both in this and in many other of his films or if he has a stunt man to do the job.
I can relate very well to the story at hand and feel for them.
All in all a great watch.
22
Miles from Home (2006,  R)
Miles from Home
one of those ok films. Nothing special but pleasant to watch
23
Road to Perdition (2002,  R)
Road to Perdition
errrrmmmm.... well, I think Tom Hanks works for the Mafia and his son accidently witnesses a shooting.... and.... no idea, can someone please tell me the rest of the story........
24
187 (1997,  R)
187
Samuel Jackson at his best. This film shows in what sort of a world we are now living in. Those who say it is overexaggerated are naive.
25
Panic Room (2002,  R)
Panic Room
Isn't she tough?

I love thrillers and I love THIS thriller. Is it possibly a bit too improbable - yes I guess so but you never know what powers a woman might have if her child's life is in danger.
26
Forces of Nature (1999,  PG-13)
Forces of Nature
A mildly amusing story with some great acting on Sandra Bullock's part. Ben Affleck can do better.
An OK film but nothing more.
27
The Green Mile (1999,  R)
The Green Mile
A very moving story. I haven't read the book and won't need to as the film has persuaded me fully.
28
Ocean's Eleven (2001,  PG-13)
Ocean's Eleven
Not seen the original so can't compare it with that but thought it was a great movie. Far more storyline than the sequel Ocean's Twelve which was more of a comedy. This was cool.
29
Ocean's Twelve (2004,  PG-13)
Ocean's Twelve
Unfortunately this one was more comedy and less strategy. Not half as clever as the first and now that I've seen the third I can say not as clever as that either.
30
Walk the Line (2005,  PG-13)
Walk the Line
I enjoyed every minute of this film. I started out only knowing it was about Johnny Cash's life and nothing else and I didn't even know anything about that. I was surprised that it wasn't the original music but both Phoenix and Witherspoon did a fantastic job at that too. I didn't think I really liked biographies but after this I might just go and watch a couple more.
31
Ray (2004,  PG-13)
Ray
This is only the second biography that I've seen and I can see many similarities between the lives of Ray Charles and that of Johnny Cash. Was it the era of sudden fame and drugs?
I thought Jamie Foxx protrayed Charles brilliantly and will recommend this film
32
The Bunker (2004,  R)
The Bunker
I own this one but don't even know if I'm brave enough to watch it!
33
Schindler's List (1993,  R)
Schindler's List
A fantastically moving although factual film. At last a war film where, although made by Americans, it is not the Americans that come to the rescue but a single German. If more people had acted as Oskar Schindler did who knows what the outcome of war might have been. There is the usual message conveyed as with most factual wartime films but a second message can be heard when watching the interview with Steven Spielberg at the end of the film (as extras on the DVD) "one man CAN make a difference"
34
Killing Me Softly (2002,  Unrated)
Killing Me Softly
Oh how I will enjoy contradicting every other comment to this film.
A fantastic story of jealousy and fate. Josef Fiennes proves his versatility in this role and also that he can contest his brother's fame (though I think them too different to be contestors for the same roles). A story of lust, passion, jealousy and intrigue all rolled in to one. A fantastic evening entertainment

....... and is a gorgeous bum something that is inherited in the Fiennes family?
35
A Beautiful Mind (2001,  PG-13)
A Beautiful Mind
A film that no doubt requires a certain level of intelligence to understand. Some fantastic acting both by Crowe and Connelly.
36
Captain Corelli's Mandolin (2001,  R)
Captain Corelli's Mandolin
A love story in hard times. Beautiful scenery, beautiful acting and some beautiful music to wash it down with
37
Cast Away (2000,  PG-13)
Cast Away
This must be one of Tom Hanks' roles of brilliance. If you've ever been completely on your own for any length of time you will fully understand this film
38
Star Trek: The Motion Picture (1979,  G)
Star Trek: The Motion Picture
As a trekkie I can't not like the films but I still think the series is better.

Actually, given the time it was filmed, this was probably the best Star Trek film
39
Star Trek - First Contact (1996,  PG-13)
Star Trek - First Contact
As a trekkie I can't not like the films but I still think the series is better.
40
Star Trek - Insurrection (1998,  PG)
Star Trek - Insurrection
As a trekkie I can't not like the films but I still think the series is better.
41
Star Trek - Nemesis (2002,  PG-13)
42
Star Trek V - The Final Frontier (1989,  PG)
Star Trek V - The Final Frontier
As a trekkie I can't not like the films but I still think the series is better.
43
Star Trek Generations (1994,  PG)
Star Trek Generations
As a trekkie I can't not like the films but I still think the series is better.

In my opinion this was the worst of the films. Lots of promise about meeting generations and then it only happened at the end.
I think the idea was good but it was brought across badly
44
Star Trek VI - The Undiscovered Country (1991,  PG)
Star Trek VI - The Undiscovered Country
As a trekkie I can't not like the films but I still think the series is better.
45
Star Trek II - The Wrath of Khan (1982,  PG)
46
Star Trek IV - The Voyage Home (1986,  PG)
47
Star Trek III - The Search for Spock (1984,  PG)
48
Chocolat (2000,  PG-13)
Chocolat
somehow erotic
49
Notting Hill (1999,  PG-13)
Notting Hill
really cute...... I know I don't do cute, but this is cute and still good
50
Bend It Like Beckham (2003,  PG-13)
Bend It Like Beckham
a fantastic demonstration of the problems youngsters have being brought up between two cultures
51
What a Girl Wants (2003,  PG)
What a Girl Wants
Colin Firth - again - irresistable
52
Cellular (2004,  PG-13)
Cellular
A great watch. I'm not sure how many women (or men for that matter) would have known how to piece a telephone together but otherwise a great idea. Just didn't have the "yes yes yes" factor to want me to watch it over and over again.
53
Feast of July (1995,  R)
Feast of July
The story of a young girl, Bella, who falls for a suave man who disappears as soon as she is pregnant. She makes her way to the village he supposedly lives in but nobody knows him. Ben Wainwright takes her into his family but this causes trouble as his sons all seem to be in love with her. Con proposes to Bella but just at this time the father of her dead-born child appears back on the scene....
A family drama set in victorian England.
54
The Notebook (2004,  PG-13)
The Notebook
I'm not really one for tear-jerkers but given the right mood and the right time of day and I might watch one..... that's what happened here and I'm oh so glad about it. A great story full of emotion. Happy and sad at the same time. I rented it this time but Ithink it might go on my shopping list sometime soon.
55
Pride and Prejudice (,  Unrated)
Pride and Prejudice
I always loved Jane Austen's book although at school I hated to admit it but Colin Firth turns the book into a XX rated movie.... what a fantastic combination
56
The Insider (1999,  R)
The Insider
A fantastic story of ethics and corruption. If you know what your company is doing is wrong or illegal do you go along with it or report it causing you to leave your job which again has dramatic effects on your life.
Wigand's wife annoyed me most when he told her he had been sacked and her first thoughts and comments were about who is going to pay the mortgage and the health insurance. Sure these are worrying points but how about asking how and why and giving the poor guy a bit of confidence first. Unfortunately, a thing I've seen in too many women out there in the big wide world.
Great film but do watch it with a clear head so that you can take it all in properly.
57
Message in a Bottle (1999,  PG-13)
Message in a Bottle
This is one of those typical tear-jerker movies, perfect for an evening with a glass of wine and the right partner..... did something wrong there as I didn't have either! Still the tear ducts need to be washed out every now and then.
A lot of the storyline is predictable but it is done so beautifully that you can easily overlook that.
58
Twister (1996,  PG-13)
Twister
catastrophe film with romance - in a way they're all the same I guess but the effects in this were spectacular
59
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl
More a teenie film I guess but I quite enjoyed it.

I've just seen it for the second time and have removed a whole star. What exactly is the point of fighting the pirates if everyone knows they can't die anyway?!

I also hate the way Johnny Depp plays the role. He can act really well when he wants to so why act the fool all the time?
60
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005,  PG-13)
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
of course the book was better but to tell the truth I think the film is less frightening
61
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (2004,  PG)
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
I find the books fascinating and am always interested to see what the film industry can make out of a good book. I think I'd prefer to allow my child to watch the film than read the books as the films are less dramatic. I do enjoy them though. Wonder if the 3 main characters will ever get the chance of another role.
62
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002,  PG)
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets
of course its not as good as the book but for those unable to read its a good watch
63
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone) (2001,  PG)
64
Finding Neverland (2004,  PG)
Finding Neverland
At long last Johnny Depp has convinced me that he really can act and not simply play the fool and look gorgeous at the same time.
A fantastic performance and a brilliant story to go with it.
I have always been a Peter Pan fan and love anything that has to do with the Peter Pan message of never growing up. I don't know why I didn't watch this film earlier.
65
Shaft (2000,  R)
Shaft
A great film especially if you love to hear the word "mother f*cker" at a rate of about twice a minute.
I think I'd be calling the police if I heard so much swearing going on outside my front door but in this film they don't seem to be called even after shots are going off all over the place and dead bodies are laying all about.
I have to presume that this is the normal way of life in US and that will be the reason why I don't want to go there.
Apart from the foul language I found this film to be packed with action and I quite enjoyed it. Toni Collette should get a special mention (seeing as she's not listed as cast on this site). I normally don't much like her but she played the part well.
66
Dark Blue (2003,  R)
Dark Blue
Great story, great theme, great acting, great film!
67
The Osterman Weekend (1983,  R)
The Osterman Weekend
Ludlum is so good at writing these. I can well imagine that this film will be remade at some stage (if it hasn't been already but I haven't heard of a remake) in places somewhat confusing in the film but it all reels together well in the end.
Fascinating film.
68
Killing Zoe (1994,  R)
69
City of Ghosts (2003,  R)
City of Ghosts
I actually think this was a great story but incredibly badly filmed. Nothing against any of the actors either but the camerawork to say the least was confusing. The viewer is left to presume quite a lot - and I am not someone who lives on presumptions.
It all started quite straight forward but as soon as Jimmy left USA (10 minutes into the film?) the viewer was constantly wondering how he knew where to go. Just because you hear someone is in Cambodia doesn't usually mean you can fly there and bump into him within a day.
Someone with more idea of directing such a film should definitely try remaking this one!
70
The Bourne Supremacy (2004,  PG-13)
The Bourne Supremacy
At last a sequel that equals its prequel. Very good plot and great acting too. Very much looking forward to the third part of the trilogy.
71
The Fourth Protocol (1987,  R)
72
Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood (2002,  PG-13)
Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood
Definitely interesting and not quite like any other film I've ever seen.

It shows that every little thing, whether good or bad, has an effect on our lives and on the person we become. And further down the chain, the person we are has an effect on the person our children are.
73
Boys on the Side (1995,  R)
Boys on the Side
I loved this film - which is probably a bit sad in itself but there you go. Three women with totally different backgrounds and ways of life each have their reasons to escape and do it together. In spite of their differences they bond like probably no other friendship would.

You know I think the German title for this movie is far more apt than the English original. Kaffee, Milch und Zucker.... it translates as Coffee, Milk and Sugar. Three totally different things, which thrown together, make a perfect match.
74
Der Name der Rose (The Name of the Rose) (1986,  R)
Der Name der Rose (The Name of the Rose)
Everyone seems to love this film. Maybe I should go and watch it again. I actually thought it was rather boring.
75
Stuck On You (2003,  PG-13)
Stuck On You
Quite amusing actually, more so than I initially expected whereby comedy and I don't tend to get on too well.

I remember my father refusing to watch Forrest Gump because it takes the mickey out of handicapped people, I dread to think what he'd say to this one.
76
Ladder 49 (2004,  PG-13)
Ladder 49
An amazing tribute to all those "normal" people out there who risk their lives on a daily basis trying to save other just as "normal" people. No super powers just a lot of courage and clear thinking in dangerous situations.
I'm sure real firemen out there will find things in the film which weren't done right but even so I'm sure they'll admit (if only to themselves and not out loud) that the risks they take are very much like they are shown here.
There were two possible outcomes to the film - unfortunately I read the actual outcome on this page and so I'd like to remind people that when renewing films, remember that many people read the reviews before they decide to watch it. Try not to give the plot away.
77
The Negotiator (1998,  R)
The Negotiator
Woww what a great film, packed with action all the way through. Had Bruce Willis been cast in place of Samuel Jackson then the title would have been Die Hard something or other. The solution to the story wasn't given away before it should have been and was a great surprise at the end.
Two fantastic actory were cast for this film.
78
The Island (2005,  PG-13)
The Island
Great futuristic action plot. I see it has many negative comments already but I see know reason for it, I loved.
Good to hear Ewan McGregor's real accent for a change.
79
Cradle 2 the Grave (2003,  R)
Cradle 2 the Grave
Apart from the pathetic kung-fu fighting this film was good. Yes I know it was martial arts throughout but I mean the storyline was a fun one and I guess there must be people out there who like the kung fu otherwise they wouldn't make those sorts of films.
Not one I'd want to watch again but kept me entertained for a while.
80
Don't Say a Word (2001,  R)
Don't Say a Word
A really gripping and thoroughly enjoyable film. Some great actors in it too, who are often underrated for their roles. Brittany Murphy makes a good psycho (and I'm sure that comment will cause smiles under her anti-fans).
81
Something's Gotta Give (2003,  PG-13)
82
Desperado (1995,  R)
83
Das Experiment (The Experiment) (2001,  R)
84
Flatliners (1990,  R)
Flatliners
one of those woww films
85
Mercury Rising (1998,  R)
86
Identity (2003,  R)
Identity
For once I was actually quite relieved that a lot of the plot was given away on these reviews otherwise I would probably have been petrified and switched off in the middle or not slept for weeks.
Please folks, try not to give away too much when you review a film. Many of us read the reviews before we choose to watch it.
Actually the ending didn't surprise me as much as it seemed to surprise a lot of others in my freinds list. Maybe because I was looking for an ending with a difference after reading various things.
A story with a great plot and various twists to it. If you like psycho thriller type movies then this really could be one for you.
87
Malice (1993,  R)
Malice
There are so many twists in this film that there really is suspense and its not until its finished and you think about the twists that you reallise they had nothing to do with anything, least of all the plot of th film..... a little strange
88
Jagged Edge (1985,  R)
89
The Assignment (1997,  R)
90
Under Fire (1983,  R)
91
Apollo 13 (1995,  PG)
Apollo 13
The story of the space catastrophe - or one of them at least. A story very well told
92
Yanks (1979,  R)
93
The Three Musketeers (1993,  PG)
94
A Perfect World (1993,  PG-13)
95
Independence Day (1996,  PG-13)
96
Made in America (1993,  PG-13)
97
Jumanji (1995,  PG)
98
Hook (1991,  PG)
Hook
Was always a big Peter Pan fan as a child and never wanted to grow old myself so this was a must for the adult me of course. A lovely idea that I think J M Barrie would have approved of
99
Little Man Tate (1991,  PG)
Little Man Tate
Being a Jodie Foster fan I guess I am slightly biased but a great film where the child is more intelligent than the mother and neither quite know how to cope with it
100
Ghost (1990,  R)
101
Tin Cup (1996,  R)
Tin Cup
The 90s were rather overfilled with Costner films which varied between absolute hits and absolute flops (in my humble opinion of course).
Watching the film again 10 years later takes the strain off thinking about that Costner is a superstar and there's more time to think about the film.
The story is the typical boy is in love with rivals wife but at least there's the story of the ex golf pro come-back to go with it.
An enjoyable film. There are plenty that are better but even more that are worse.
102
The Passion of the Christ (2004,  R)
The Passion of the Christ
A very dramatic and film full of tension. Even if we know how it is going to end (well I presume everyone knows how it is going to end) we are still fascinated enough to watch it through to the end. It is a film showing 2 hrs of torture which makes me wonder how sick we must be to sit through it.
I would love to discuss this movie with the priest who accompanied me through my childhood, my confirmation and a lot of my youth but unfortunately he passed away several years ago.
There are parts that definitely disturb me as to how far away from the truth they are but of course nobody is alive to tell the truth today.
I'd be interested to know how many Jews have seen this film and what their views are on it.
103
Unlawful Entry (1992,  R)
Unlawful Entry
What a great creepy ass Ray Liotta role. So much for the policeman as a friendly helper. Lets just hope our men in blue are under regular psychological surveillance.
104
The Eternal: Kiss of the Mummy (1998,  R)
105
True Crime (1999,  R)
True Crime
I must admit I rather enjoyed this film although I agree that Clint Eastwood was a tad too old at the time of filming to act the ageing playmate. I'm sure he could have left that role to a slightly younger colleague. Isaiah Washington was fantastic and I do hope to see him in other films and not just TV series in the near future.
Death Row - a rather morbid theme maybe but as the wrongs and rights of the death penalty are regularly back on the table I'm sure this film will never really go out of fashion.
Why it wasn't appreciated more in cinemas at the time of its release I don't know. It is definitely well worth the watch if you are a fan of crime, suspense and mystery.
106
The Beach (2000,  R)
The Beach
What is the price of perfection?

In our late teens I'm sure many of us wanted to break free from normality but only few of us managed it.

Congratulations to anyone who has found their utopia but I think, much like this film, there's always a dark side to every idea of perfection.

This film is actually very interesting in a disturbing kind of way and gives you much to think about.
107
Stargate (1994,  PG-13)
Stargate
Possible answers to where we came from? Fascinating for all interested in Ancient Egypt. A great film giving cause to many questions in life.
108
Maybe... Maybe Not (Der Bewegte Mann) (The Most Desired Man) (1994,  R)
Maybe... Maybe Not (Der Bewegte Mann) (The Most Desired Man)
This has been translated into English! Wow, I didn't know. I can watch this film over and over again and every time I laugh myself silly.
Especially the opening when Doro catches her boyfriend Axel having sex with another woman in the ladies' loos. His comment "it's not what it looks like!"
Fantastic film.
I can't vouch for the English translation though.

The Little Polar Bear 2
An absolute top kids film.
114
The Little Polar Bear (2001,  G)
The Little Polar Bear
A fantastic film for children. Racism is covered in this without the kids really noticing it. I mean, why shouldn't a polar bear and a seal be friends.

Must add though that the Little Polar Bear films are German and I haven't seen them in english so don't know if anything gets lost in the translation (often does the other way round)
115
The Little Polar Bear - Lars and the Little Tiger (,  Unrated)
The Little Polar Bear - Lars and the Little Tiger
try telling my son that polar bears and tigers cannot go visiting each other except maybe at the zoo... impossible.
Still, the film is cute for the agegroup it is representing.
Must add though that the Little Polar Bear films are German and I haven't seen them in english so don't know if anything gets lost in the translation (often does the other way round)

Tarzan (1999,  G)

Tarzan II (2005,  G)

Brother Bear (2003,  G)
Brother Bear
A very beautiful film and the music is great too. Films like this give our children a decent foundation to grow up on.
119
Cats & Dogs (2001,  PG)
Cats & Dogs
amusing - my son loved it so probably more for his category than for mine
120
Spongebob Squarepants - The Seascape Capers (,  G)

122
Lady and the Tramp (1955,  G)

The Aristocats (1970,  G)
124
Madagascar (2005,  PG)
Madagascar
Has lots of jokes both for the kids it is supposed to be relating to and also for the adults who have to accompany their youngsters to watch it. The storyline started off quite nicely too but then suddenly it finished..... not quite sure what the ending should have been but then I don't think the storywriters did either.
125
Dumbo (1941,  G)
Dumbo
hey, I love elephants so can't say anything negative about dumbo now can I
126
Shrek (2001,  PG)
Shrek
I laugh my head off watching this - and I so rarely like comedies
127
Shrek 2 (2004,  PG)
Shrek 2
jokes for the kids and also for the adults - very amusing.
Unfortunately, a lot gets lost in the translation as I live in country that doesn't know the three blind mice or the gingerbread man or even the muffin man so the critics here were not so good.

Thunderbirds (2004,  PG)
129
The Incredibles (2004,  PG)

Mary Poppins
A spoonfull of sugar..... don't we all love it really?
132
Ice Age (2002,  PG)
Ice Age
In the German version Sid is played by a comedian that I cannot stand and so it took me quite a while until I agreed to sit and watch it. Fantastically funny. Something to watch whenever my life is missing a laugh.
133
The Care Bears Movie (1985,  G)
134
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit (2005,  G)
Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit
Fantastic animation and a fun story for kids though I've heard of some that were petrified of it.
135
Over the Hedge (2006,  PG)
Over the Hedge
cute, amusing and with a moral to the story - great for kids and not too boring for the accompanying adults either.
136
The Lion King (1994,  G)
137
101 Dalmatians (One Hundred and One Dalmatians) (1961,  G)
138
Atlantis - The Lost Empire (2001,  PG)
Atlantis - The Lost Empire
I quite enjoy the story but my son is still petrified of it at the age of 7 - makes me wonder if it was really meant for children
139
Nanny McPhee (2006,  PG)
Nanny McPhee
A modern-day Mary Poppins. Seeing how some of my son's friends have been brought up I think there should be more such nannies around. Emma Thompson plays the part perfectly, Colin Firth is his usual fantastic self and we all remember Thomas Sangster from his role in Love Actually (don't we? - well we should)
140
Spider-Man (2002,  PG-13)
Spider-Man
my son loves it but never been much of a super hero fan myself
141
Spider-Man 2 (2004,  PG-13)
Spider-Man 2
Great entertainment for those who love superheroes...... my son being one of them.
142
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937,  G)
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
One of the most lovely children's films and a classic at that.

Remembering in which era it was filmed you have to admire the "technology" of its time.

143
The Peacemaker (1997,  R)
The Peacemaker
I think this is one of Nicole Kidman's better roles and it is also a great role for George Clooney getting him out of his ER doctor's garb.
One of the better political thrillers and seeing the satellite observation makes you remember that nothing you do in this world is private.
144
Shoot to Kill (Deadly Pursuit) (1988,  R)
145
Cars (2006,  G)
Cars
After all those princess films, at last a film that's truly one for the lads. Not only that but a story with a moral behind it too. A real fun film and something to learn.
146
Miles from Home (Farm of the Year) (1988,  R)
Miles from Home (Farm of the Year)
An interesting concept. Forced from their home and nowhere to go two brothers go to drastic measures.
147
Tequila Express (2002,  Unrated)
148
Ancient Warriors (2001,  R)
149
Bobby G. Can't Swim (1999,  R)
Bobby G. Can't Swim
weird, boring and predictable are just three of the adjectives I would use for this film.
150
Turbulence (1997,  R)
151
Annie's Coming Out (A Test of Love) (1984,  PG)
Annie's Coming Out (A Test of Love)
Where is the borderline for being healthy and being mentally retarded? How many people are locked away with ailments that have not been recognised to date?
Based on a true story, this film really gives you cause to sit back and think!
152
La Mano negra (The Black Hand) (1980,  Unrated)
153
Commander Firefox (1983,  Unrated)
154
Plan B (2002,  R)
Plan B
I really must take the time to sit back and watch this one again. I can't believe that Diane Keaton would play a role in the trash I thought I was watching (and finally gave up) the first round.

Watch this space (when I watch it again)
155
Living to Die (1990,  R)
156
Field of Dreams (1989,  PG)
Field of Dreams
This film gives me the creeps in a good sort of way. When all the spirits of the past turn up it sends shivers down my spine. Not horror shivers, shivers of emotion - fantastic
157
The Lake House (2006,  PG)
The Lake House
A truly beautiful story. I will watch it often I'm sure.

The time travel idea has always fascinated me yet the idea of only being two years apart is particularly interesting.
At the same time a beautiful love story.
158
Three to Tango (1999,  PG-13)
Three to Tango
I don't know how I managed to watch two gay comedies in two days, it was coincidence but this one really made me laugh.

For those of you who loved the series Friends (for those of you old enough to remember it) you will love to find Matthew Perry being the typical Chandler in this film - intelligently witty.

Neve Campbell is a lovely character and I will look out for more.

Go watch this romantic comedy for a bit of fun.
159
A Lot Like Love (2005,  PG-13)
A Lot Like Love
This film has a truly beautiful storyline.... and now I've said it, I can't believe I'm falling for the love-story line of films.

Two people who constantly use each other when their relationships have just failed and don't even see each other in between. They understand each other without words and yet they don't understand to give each other more of a chance than the regular one night stand.

Great love story and yet not a tear-jerker at all.
160
The Holiday (2006,  PG-13)
The Holiday
This is really really lovely.

The thing that held me up from watching it all this time was that I find it rather gross to think that anyone could possibly fall in love with Jack Black but I was wrong.

A great romantic comedy! I actually watched it twice in one night!!
161
The Sum of Us (1995,  R)
The Sum of Us
I found this film on the bargain table and I am really happy that I did. I had never heard of it before.

What a young Russell Crowe this is - yummy

This film is only 13 years old? Judging by the fashion I would have gone several years further back.

I wouldn't necessarily call this a comedy either - admittedly it had its witty moments - but it is more of a love story than anything else. A gay love story.

I can't imagine that many homosexuals in the real world have such a fantastic relationship with their father. Mother, more likely but not father (prove me wrong if you like).

Go watch it.... I loved it.

P.S. the music in this film is all fantastic too!!
162
Amazing Grace (2007,  PG)
Amazing Grace
A film that didn't reach our cinemas in this country I'm afraid but then I think this is a part of British history which is unknown to many, especially if not personally effected.

Great film, great acting..... will watch again.
