City of God (2003,  R)
City of God 5.0 Stars
City Of God is as good as any crime film ive ever seen. Its right there with Goodfellas and Scareface. Sure they are totally different types of films but they still share that underworld element. I cant believe it took me this long to get around to seeing this. I just finished watching it and iam ready to watch it again.
The film is incredibly shot. I mean its fucking gorgeous...well as gorgeous as a Rio de Janeiro slum can get!? The story was so well told. The sectioning of the film into chapters made for great storytelling. There are so many characters to get to know. I think it would of been impossible to tell the story any other way. The camera work is great and the film is fucking brutal! The violence is shocking, yet never seems misplaced. Extremly powerful and true.
Highly recommended!

Tough dialogue, incredible fights and Marvin ozzes badass! Oh yea, its a John Boorman film also!

I love this film. There is not one thing about it i can say i had a problem with. Its possibly my favorite film thats attached to Tarintino. Steller cast. Great story. Bronson Pinchot is sure to shake that Balky typcsting after the coke scene. The ending is intense and perfect. Great film refrences. Classic Tarintino story!

Ocean's Thirteen 4.5 Stars
Never having watched Oceans 12 i was worried i might not know what would be brought over from that film. Luckily, according to my girlfriend there wasnt much.
Oceans 13 is a total blast. I enjoyed it as much as i enjoyed Oceans 12. Pacino's character was fun to watch go down. He was a sleazy bastard.
The disguises were fun.....at one point Clooney had on what looked like a Freddy Mercury moustache. He looked like he would be a great candidate for Kraven The Hunter in Spidey 4!?!
Oceans 13 also boasts a great score. Iam gonna pick it up asap! Its possibly the best score for a new film ive heard in ages.

No Country for Old Men (2007,  R)
No Country for Old Men 4.5 Stars
The Coen Bros. have crafted one hell of a thriller with No Country For Old Men. The Coens go back to familiar territory used in Blood Simple And Fargo that there is no simple plan. Everything gets fucked up somewere down the line. Javier Bardem is goddamn creepy as hell as the relentless psycho who hunts Brolin at every turn. And Brolin has become a fantastic actor in his own rights, he plays sleazy real well.
Ranks up there with the Coens finest!

The Night of the Following Day 4.5 Stars
The Night of the Following Day is a real gem! Brando ,as always, kicks major ass playing a bad guy who's the better of the bad men. Richard Boone plays a very sleazy role. This film has a weird-sleazy kinda vibe throughout. Maybe its the subject matter. Pamela Franklin plays inoccent well. And Rita Moreno plays "junked up' well. Fine performances from everyone.
One of my favorite Brando films!

Zodiac (2007,  R)
Zodiac 4.5 Stars
WOW! Incredible filmmaking on David Finchers part. But then again i expected that from the man who brought us Fight Club and Se7en. Great cast of supporting players. And the sight of the Zodiac killer dressed in his hooded "uniform" is a scary sight. And the stabbing that follows that sight is very unpleasant to watch. the most brutal stabbings ive ever seen filmed....next to the stabbings in Charlies Family from Jim Van Bebber.
Its so damn horrifying that they basically had the guy but because of police protacal and no second opinions this guy got away with murder.
Zodiac is extremly well made and it ranks up there with some of the best films as of recent.

The Last King of Scotland (2006,  R)
The Last King of Scotland 4.0 Stars
Ive always felt Whitaker was a overlooked actor. And this film proved me right. I dont follow the Oscar bullshit, but appearently they figured out Forrest Whitaker CAN ACT! He gives a tour-de-force performance here. One moment a playful guy, the next a brutal dictator. We basically see the film unfold through the eyes of a Scottish doctor. Who is pretty naive, but hungry, to the world around him. But he slowly learns the hard reality to whom he has become involved with. McAvoy does a steller job in his own right.
Nicly shot and well acted, The Last King Of Scotland draws you in, grabs you by the fucking nuts and sqeezes tight the last half of it.

Ms. 45 (1981,  R)
Ms. 45 4.0 Stars
Abel Ferrara crafts a tight little film here. Ms. 45 is a pretty sleazy film. The first to rape sequences are tough to watch. Zoe Tamerlis's performane without any dialogue, because her character is mute, is flawless.
This film is better in the revenge dept. than I Spit on Your Grave. Her acts of revenge seem to be deleivered more beleivably. And the finale at the costume party is classic!

I seriously dont know how to rate this film. I actually enjoyed the film to a certain degree, but its got awfull dialogue, shitty speacal makeup jobs,,,at one point Sharone Stone looks like Martin Shorts 'Jiminey Glick'....and i really hate "urban youth" They are idiots and deserve a cap in the ass. But the suspence was decent for a moment at least. And you really feel for Antone Yelchin's character. I wouldnt watch this again unless there was absolutly nothing on cable. But its not that bad of a watch.

I know iam in the minority here but this film is way over rated. I mean its good and all but its not the second comming like most proclaim it to be. There are some really annoying camera shots that Tarintino should of learned about in filmmaking 101
But...it boosts some incredible performances. And its not often you see a film about a bunch of lousy bad at what they do criminals. And Tarintinos witty dialogue is refreshing.

An important film in American film history. Bonnie and Clyde is a violent and often funny gangster film. Faye Dunaway is magnifecent as the notorious Bonnie Parker. The relationship between the two characters is touching. Beatty's impotent Clyde is full of charisma and gusto.
Great cast includes Gene Hackman, Gene Wilder and Michael J Pollard who almost steals the show from Beaty and Dunaway.

I enjoyed the hell out of this film. The Lookout is a good crime drama. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is really good as the young man struggling to cope with his disabilites. My girlfriend looked at me at one point and said 'this is a really slow film.' I didnt think it was at all. The film makes the wise choice of really developing Levitts character, instead of just becoming some glossy crime film.
